Shanora absolutely came through with this book! I am not much of a thriller reader but I trust her so much as an author and I'm so glad I did because I already know ( Yes, even though it's only February) that this is one of my top reads this year!

This book is fast paced, it's intense, insane, addictive and a full on mind f*ck! How this is Shanora's first time writing a thriller I don't know cause I can't tell!

You will definitely think you know what's going on but really? Just enjoy the ride because trying to figure it out is not going to happen!

I came out of this book an even bigger Williams fan! The plot...CRAZY! Execution....perfection and the ending? Just what I wanted!

The Perfect Ruin by Shankar Williams is about Ivy a young woman, who is seeking revenge about something that happened when she was fourteen. This book had lots of twists and turns and was well written. Thanks to Netgalley for this arc in exchange for my honest opinion.

I have never read this author. Mainly because I don’t read a lot of romance much anymore. So when I saw that she had wrote a debut thriller– I was alllll over that bad boy on Netgalley. Did I love the book? No. Did I hate the book? Also no. I thought it was a great read but it was just… great. Nothing really blew me away with it and nothing really stuck out. It was a thriller that I had read before so not much of an original story-line.

Ivy was awful. She was an awful character but she was written so well. When author’s can write awful characters in a great way, I am always impressed. If you can make an unlikeable, unreliable person likeable– I’m a fan. The writing was very smooth and made the story flow quite quickly.

For a debut thriller novel it wasn’t awful. I feel like a lot more could have been done to really keep the plot going but by the end of it I was satisfied and happy to of gotten to read this one.

Thank you so much for my copy of The Perfect Ruin. This was such a thrilling story and I really enjoyed the different point of views from a few of the characters. Revenge is a slippery slope and Ivy is coming down fast! I can't wait to read more from Shanora Williams!

I must admit, I’m a little over romance during these times. When I learned Williams had a thriller coming out, I could not wait to jump at the opportunity to read this. She done an excellent job at this thriller/suspense game! I cannot wait to read more like this from her.
First off reviewing this book is going to be vague, vague, vague. You need to go in blind. My feelings were all over the place. I didn’t know how to feel about Ivy. I really didn’t like her and felt the strong urge that she had it all so very wrong. Part 2 is when the other shoe dropped, and I was like what?! The more answers I got, I then began to not like Lola. At this point in the game, who was there to like? 😊 So much exposure to true colors of people had my mind reeling and I could not wrap my head around it. Somewhere along the lines I thought I was crazy, and this isn’t happening! Then Williams goes and effs me all the way up with that ending. What in the ham sandwich is going on here? All the secrets come out. The way the revenge plan is executed, how innocence is not believed, someone you had a feeling about did this but can’t believe that they pulled it off. Fabulously and smartly I might add.
Rich, entitled people man. To have it everything at your disposal, sometimes they can perfectly ruin it all themselves! A lot of greed and keep in mind not all greed is monetary, this book was about control.
5 Perfect Stars

What a thrilling ride of a book!!! The writing was so authentic, the dialogue felt so real, and the story gave me whiplash in the end in such a good way!

You jump into this novel meeting Ivy who is having a counseling session with Marriott. She has been her therapist since she was young and now at the current age of 25 she is going more out of habit than help. She lost someone close to her when she was 14 and she has rage they were taken away by someone that up until that day was unnamed. Marriott finally receives the name and gives it to Ivy who of course plans revenge. The name is Lola Maxwell. She is a do gooder through charities and super wealthy. Ivy conspires a plan to get into her lift and seek revenge by wanting to rip her life apart any way she can. But by the end of the book things start to flip and secrets start to unravel and your jaw drops at what is going on and the brains behind it all!

This truly was an invigorating read. The only knock I have would be that about halfway I get frustrated with the way Ivy starts to behave. She was straight forward and then all of a sudden it’s like she became that little juvenile girl with juvenile thinking. In the end it helped curve towards to overall plot so it worked but that would be my only frustration.

Highly recommend! And thank you to netgalley and Kensington Books for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

The Perfect Ruin is a deliciously perfect revenge novel filled with twists that will leave you gripping your tablet tightly, wondering what could possibly happen next. It’s the perfect way to ruin your day and plans, because you won’t be able to stop reading it until you have devoured every page.

The story is intriguing from the very start, as we know that a woman named Ivy went through something traumatic at a young age, and once she finds out the name of the woman that was the cause of the tragedy that has ruined her life, she is hell bent on getting revenge and sets a plan in motion to ruin the woman’s life.

Ivy is relentless in her pursuit, as she is driven by her years of built up anger and the fact that she feels she has nothing else to lose. Her spite knows no bounds, and makes for a deliciously twisty story that will keep you guessing, because just when you think you know what is going to happen, another twist is thrown your way, and it’s difficult to know who to trust and how it’s all going to play out.

This book will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish, and your mind will be reeling throughout the entirety of your reading experience. This story really makes you ponder just how far you will go to make someone pay and suffer for the pain that they have caused you, and contemplating that makes for an even more dramatic and intense reading experience.

If you’re a fan of thrillers that keeps you on the edge of your seat, then this is definitely the one for you!

Shanora Williams wrote the consummate edge of your seat kind of thriller I can't help but lose myself in. A book that you know you need to savor because with each turn of the page, the web of deceit and revenge that Ivy Hill has created only gets more intense by the minute. I was caught up in that web from the very start and to say this journey is jaw-dropping is an understatement. Williams is quite subtle as she guides us to what we believe are actions completely warranted by the retribution-seeking Ivy. And they are. But what I didn't plan on was how it all would unfold until I was utterly dumbstruck as those last few pages were read.

I love when an author finds that genre where you can tell they thoroughly enjoyed their writing adventure. I could almost imagine Williams rubbing her hands together as she came up with the many twists and turns and dare I say evil that I felt as Ivy seeks out pain from those who made her suffer most. The characters, whether 'good people or not' drive this story and it was hard not to be on Ivy's side as we begin to discover all that had occurred.

The Perfect Ruin is just that but perhaps not exactly how the reader expects and that is why it is off the charts wonderful. I love to be kept guessing and Williams lead me down many roads before this book was over and I loved every single detour she threw at me.

I can only say that everyone needs to go into this book with their eyes wide open and their minds ready to be blown away. Because yeah, it's that good.

5 huge stars!

First off, I’d like to say thank you to Netgalley for an advanced reading copy. This was my first time reading Shanora Williams. And now, I want to read every book ever made by this author. The Perfect Ruin is a book that demands your attention. You won’t be able to put it down because all of the twists. You won’t know who to trust. Ivy went through a tragedy at a young age. When she finds the woman who was responsible, she decided to attack, and she is relentless. How far would you go to make someone pay? Probably pretty far if you have nothing to lose and are driven on anger and spite. This story took unforeseen turns and I was shocked at many points. I couldn’t put the book down until I knew the outcome. Now that it’s over, I feel empty. Definitely look into this author, she will not disappoint!

This is my first book from Shanora Williams and I am looking forward to reading more of her books!

The Perfect Ruin is exactly as the title describes...a perfect ruin.

Ivy lost her world and was left with pretty much nothing at a young age. She is given information about the person who ruined her life and all she sees is revenge. She starts plotting the perfect way to extract her revenge and let me tell you, she is relentless.

This book is filled with neverending lies, deceit, manipulations and drama, I couldn't look away!

Jump on this twisted drama filled train because it's the nonstop express to HOLY SHIT VILLE!

The ending was resolved but not. This will make total sense when you read it. Will we see more of Ivy and others? I'm all for it and ready to one click!!!
