This one just didn't do it for me. I guess I just didn't enjoy the whole "scam artist for money" plot. It was hard not to DNF this. Its a quick read, but not worth investing ones time, honestly. If you are a fan of this trope, then you'd enjoy it.

"The Other Couple" is a mixed bag of elements that ultimately create an average reading experience. The characters in the novel are fairly well-developed, with Grant providing glimpses into their motivations and personalities. However, some of their actions feel contrived, and their development lacks depth, making it difficult to fully invest in their journeys.

Grant succeeds in crafting a tense atmosphere and setting, particularly in the secluded beach house where much of the story takes place. The writing style is straightforward and easy to follow, but lacks the lyrical quality that could elevate the narrative to a higher level. While the plot initially promises intrigue and suspense, it ultimately falls short, with predictable twists and turns that fail to keep readers fully engaged.

Despite its flaws, "The Other Couple" does offer moments of intrigue, particularly in its exploration of the complex relationships between the characters. However, the logic behind some of their decisions feels shaky at best, leading to moments of frustration and disbelief. Overall, while "The Other Couple" may provide some enjoyment for readers seeking a quick and light read, it ultimately fails to leave a lasting impression.

What a great book. It’s a slow burn thriller
I liked the characters but they are all so flawed
The ending of the book was so good and twisty
You do have to suspend your disbelief at times

"The Other Couple" by Cathryn Grant is a gripping psychological thriller that explores the dark depths of human nature and the terrifying consequences of secrets and manipulation. Unbeknownst to Maggie, Skye and Joe have been observing them, carefully selecting them as their next target.

Seizing the opportunity, Skye and Joe begin to manipulate and torment Maggie, pushing their own sinister agenda. However, it soon becomes clear that Maggie might not be as innocent as she appears. The pressure intensifies, turning what should have been a dream vacation into a nightmare.

Cathryn Grant skillfully weaves a web of suspense and psychological tension, keeping readers on the edge of their seats throughout the book. The characters are complex and flawed, and the author adeptly explores the depths of their psyche, blurring the line between victim and perpetrator. With each twist and turn, the narrative delves deeper into the characters' hidden motivations and dark secrets.

"The Other Couple" is a thrilling exploration of trust, manipulation, and the sinister side of human relationships. Cathryn Grant's writing is sharp and engaging, making it difficult to put the book down. Fans of psychological thrillers will find themselves immersed in this chilling tale, questioning the true nature of the characters and eagerly anticipating the shocking climax.

A chance encounter with a young couple leads to an uneasy friendship but holiday relationships come and go all the time,or do they? The tension builds as secrets start to surface until it explodes in a moment of madness and lives crumble, with a nice twist at the end. Thoroughly enjoyable unputtable down read highly recommended

This was just okay for me-Kind of predictable and a bit underwhelming and average. A bit disappointed by it to say the least

The Other couple follows two couples that meet on holiday that become fast friends but not all is at is seems. Brad and Maggie are trying to spend some quality time together to mend their marriage while Skye and Joe are hiding sinister motives which lead to tragedy.

This was an interesting one, fairly fast paced and many twists and turns along the way. It could have been a 4 star but suffered from a common issue in thrillers - the characters make baffling decisions to avoid communication and confrontation that could actually solve their problems and instead hide their feelings and frustrations until something awful inevitably happens. in saying that I didn't figure out what was going to happen at all and when it did I could see the groundwork that had been placed along the way which was very satisfying. The ending wasn't exactly what I wanted to happen but it was still good.

Thank you to Netgalley for providing a digital ARC in exchange for an honest review

Maggie & Brad are on a much-needed vacation when they meet another couple, Skye & Joe, and quickly become acquainted. Things quickly become alarming when Maggie learns that meeting Skye & Joe wasn't random; Maggie & Brad had been chosen on purpose.

I have been trying to finish this book since I downloaded it in November of last year. Based on the description, I thought I was going to be reading a story about a con artist couple who chooses couples to target and then cons them and runs. I was looking forward to a cunning, well-executed con. What I got was a couple who chooses their targets seemingly at random, hoping they have deep dark secrets that work for blackmail. The whole thing just seems insane; why would anyone choose to start their research after they've spent time befriending a couple? Why not do the social media research on a bunch of couples in the resort area and pick one on purpose? I could not get through it. I put it down a bunch of times.

About 30% through there was a twist that wasn't super original but at least unexpected for this specific story. The book got a little better then, though none of the characters were particularly interesting or real. The pace picked up enough that I got through to 90%, where things actually got a little interesting and the end reveal redeemed itself to a certain extent.

The book synopsis of THE OTHER COUPLE promises a thriller wrapped around a murder mystery and it delivered. While the story line may not be an original one, Cathryn Grant gives it some very original twists that definitely make it thrilling.

When a married couple offer to share their beach rental with a couple they have only known a few days.....everyone can tell it's a bad idea. Sure enough, the fast friendship eventually runs it's course and someone ends up dead. But, who did the crime and why? The tension built while the friends slowly become not so friendly will keep you guessing. Each one of these "friends" tells the story in their own voice and it's up to readers to figure out who the killer is and what the heck did I just read???? Read and enjoy when you have the chance to have an uninterrupted read!

I would firstly like to thank Netgalley and the publishers for allowing me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a first time read from this author, and while I wasn’t hugely gripped to the story. I wouldn't say I was bored either. The story was fine, but I didn't particularly like any of the characters. And the ending was a tad predictable.
Not a brilliant read, but not a bad one either. Have lots of this authors book in my library so hoping for better.

This book is just alright. Quite a slow burner, until three quaters of the way through then it's a page turner.
The ending is so clever, did not expect it at all.
