When goofy, yet hilarious people write a book you have to know your in for an exhilarating ride. Kim and Penn Hold nothing back, bearing it all for us to read in black and white. The courage to air your dirty laundry so to say, is truly humbling. Every chapter divulging us with real arguments they had and did work through. I have to admit I was called out on several occasions...Thankfully It didn't sting so bad because the humor Kim and Penn add to the book makes it feel like you're not alone and there are steps you can take to work through those problems. They even take it a step further by giving clear detailed steps and worksheets you can use to make working through your troubles easier. Marriage is hard but this book has the potential to make it just a little easier.

I've loved everything that Kim and Penn have released from videos, to blogs, to podcasts so I was not surprised to love this book! I was surprised with how much I connected with it though! When I think of "fighting" I think of a heated exchange which is not how my husband and I operate. We are both fairly laid back so I was initially wondering how much connection I would have with this book. There were so many wonderful nuggets of wisdom in it about communication, marriage roles and learning how to ask for what you want. While my husband and I will never be "fighters" that doesn't mean we will agree on everything and these tips are invaluable and make me want to work harder to make my relationship with my husband even better than it already is. The content in this book is delivered in the way only Kim and Penn can deliver it which makes it a very quick and fun read. I came away feeling pumped and hopeful even with already having a great relationship with my husband. Way to go guys! I highly recommend this book to everyone. While the emphasis is heavy on marriage I think there are many tips in here that can translate to any type of relationship.

I’m sorry, but I was unable to finish this book. I think the core of this book is going to be very helpful to many readers, I just wasn’t one of them. I love the idea of Penn & Kim opening up about their marriage and how they often have different views about the fights they gave. I wish the authors & publishers much success upon release.

I’ve been following the Holderness family on social media for a few years and I really enjoy them and their hilarious parody videos. I was excited to see Kim and Penn wrote a book together. In the 10 chapters in this book, Kim and Penn talk you through fights they have had during their marriage and they offer strategies and explain how they have learned to fight better. I found this book to be very relatable. It has a lot of great advice and takeaways you can easily implement into your own marriage. I definitely see myself coming back to this book as reference later on. I enjoyed getting to learn more about Kim and Penn’s life on a more personal level. And true to the Holderness style, there are also some funny moments in the book that I really enjoyed.

Thank you Thomas Nelson and Net Galley for the ARC of this book

If you know Kim and Penn Holderness from their videos, you will love their new book Everybody Fights: So Why Not Get Better at It? If you don't know who they are, I'm sorry, you're really missing out.

Kim and Penn are known for their humor, and it comes out in spades in this book. They are open about how they fight and the way therapy has helped them to fight more productively.

The info included isn't all new to me, but damn, this is by far the best way I have ever seen it presented. It's honest, funny, and completely helpful. Best of all, it's sound advice offered in a fun, easy to read package.

If you are ever going to read a book about help in your marriage, this is the book to read!

As well, I find this book can be helpful and useful for arguments with anyone. A parent. A sibling. A co-worker. A friend. Anyone. Although written for both side of the argument to understand the "better" way to fight, I see that just one person knowing the useful way would be extremely beneficial.

I seriously love this book. If you're a fan of Kim and Penn, this is a great look at the people behind the video. Their personalities shine throughout. They give you an up close look into how they balance their family, marriage, and work lives.

They repeatedly remind the reader that they are not therapists. But they heavily focus on some of the things that their therapist has taught them that can help all of us. Basically, it's a much cheaper version of therapy for yourself and it's wonderful.

Everybody Fights: So Why Not Get Better at It? is a must read book as far as I'm concerned. You might not relate to everything that Kim and Penn are saying, but you will definitely learn a thing or two, if not twenty, on a more productive way of fighting and communicating.

And again, if you haven't yet seen the Holderness's videos, do yourself a favor and look them up on You Tube. Be prepare to binge watch them though as they are hysterical.

This is a fresh take on communication in marriage (or really in any relationship) They are very open and honest about their struggles between an extreme ADHD extrovert and an anxious introvert. They share the wisdom from their pastor/marriage coach. It debunks some old advice and details some of their biggest fights from two different perspectives. Not man vs woman perspectives but two different people with different life experience perspectives. It takes courage to be so vulnerable by telling the world your not so perfect moments. Everyone can learn something from them to strengthen their relationships.

Most people that choose this book will likely be followers of their YouTube channel to get a glimpse of their real life off camera. Their humor from their videos carries over into their book. It does talk about what their big fights are about and how through counseling they are able to get past them.

This book was fun to read but I don’t think it would be one I refer back to or read again. It is a book that will likely appeal to a big audience.

Everybody Fights is the Holderness’ debut book. If you don’t know who the Holderness Family is, they make hilarious, timely music videos on social media. I am a fan and always wondered how Kim and Penn balanced working and living together. The main premise of the book is that every married couple fights; you just have to learn to fight correctly. Look, you are not going to relate to everything in this book but you can certainly take many things with you when you’re done. The Holderness’ do not claim to be experts. They just say what they took from marriage counseling and what worked for them as a couple. Take with it what you will. They give us insight into their biggest fights and offer real world examples to help you understand. I thought it was all very well done.

If you are a fan of the Holderness Family, you should definitely pick this one up. If you are married, you should put this one in your arsenal of relationship books. You can easily come back to it at different points in your life and take something else from it.

*I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was a relatable relationship advice book seasoned throughout with Kim and Penn's trademark humor. I enjoyed reading it and would recommend it to others looking for "non-preachy" advice.

I enjoy the videos these authors put out and there book was just as enjoyable! The book did talk about more tough subjects than I expectes and was definitely for adults but I enjoyed their thoughts on their marriage and life lessons.

The Holderness Family has become a mainstay of YouTube viewing for many people during the pandemic, and they add a much-needed sense of comedy and relatability to the times we are all living in. In this book, they take the reader "behind the scenes" in their marriage and their family, while describing the techniques that have helped them to analyze their communication, their fights, their needs, and their emotions. This is a, very accessible book that's lively and easy to read.
Note that it is truly geared toward marriage issues, including some adult topics, so it may not necessarily be a good fit for someone who is just looking for a book on general communication.

This couple is famous here in the Triangle, and I love how I can go to their videos any day of the week and get a smile! Like most people, however, I don't really know anything about them beyond their personas, so this book was a peek behind the curtain. What I discovered about each of them was pretty eye-opening. We are the same age, so a lot of the references and current life-events were spot on. But, as a certified counselor, I found the marriage advice to be even more so. They've taken a Counseling 101 course and put it into layman's terms...and made it a lot more entertaining! The stories are real-life, down-to-earth, and at times laugh-out-loud funny...keeping you engaged and interested in what they have to say next. This is definitely a marriage book that you should read, whether you're only engaged or have been married twenty years.
