This, the tarot deck, and a bottle of tequila would make the perfect gift for the right person (me!). The artwork is great and the drink recipes that accompany each card make this a really unique and fun mash up of tarot and tequila.

Tarot and tequila are the perfect combo in this fun read. I'm new to tarot so love reading everything I can about the topic and throw in a drink or two and you have me hooked. Such an interesting and fun book.

I like Tarot, and I like tequila, so I figured this would be an interesting book to read. It does not quite live up to the expectations.

The publisher describes this book as a "positive and spiritually uplifting guide that includes basic and humorous tequila-inspired meanings for all 78 tarot cards." The book also contains 40 tequila based cocktail recipes. There is a recipe for each Major Arcana card and then some additional cocktails for selected Minor Arcana cards. In the book, the author explains how he paired the cocktails with the cards based on card attributes.

We need to look at this book as a Tarot guide and as a cocktail recipes book.

As a Tarot book, the card meanings and interpretations are fairly basic. The author does use a very casual and relaxed tone in providing the card interpretations. The card interpretations include: basic definition, reversed basic definition, tequila definition, and reversed tequila definition. Think of the tequila definitions a bit more in terms of bar and drinking culture life. Depending on how much or how little you relate to bard and drinking culture you may or not relate to these meanings and definitions. At the end of the day, the card interpretations overall are very basic. As a Tarot book, this book is at the beginner's level. There is not much here for the advanced Tarot users. As a Tarot book, it is nice but optional especially if you have more comprehensive Tarot books.

As a cocktail book, it's like every other artsy cocktail book. Recipes vary in difficulty to make, mostly trending to complicated. Some ingredients are not easy to get and/or require some significant work to make such as making infusions, for example an espresso infused tequila for the Negroni that is the Fool's Cocktail. Your ability to make some of these at home with very basic ingredients may be low. I say that as someone with a small basic liquor cabinet; many ingredients mentioned would be difficult to make or acquire for the average person at home. In that sense, this book is not unlike many bar and cocktail books that feature nice photos of cocktails and exotic recipes no average person can make at home. Except there are no photos in this book.

The book is illustrated with some nice art from the author's Tarot deck, the Sugar Skull Tarot deck (sold separately). The illustrations, in the galley are black and white. After a bit of searching, I found that they are in color in the final book edition. The art style is nice, simple, and can be a bit playful. You do not need the author's deck to read and enjoy the boo, but if you really like the book you might consider getting the deck.

Overall, I thought the book was OK. It reflects the author's trade of doing Tarot at parties and corporate events, i.e. it feels more like a party book. I am not saying that is a bad thing. I think Tarot can be playful, happy, and yes, something you can do over cocktails. This book is just pretty lightweight. It feels and reads more like a coffee table book than a book for serious Tarot practice.

Tarot and Tequila is a very trendy and modern book full of fun cocktail ideas that would make any girls night extra fun. I can't wait to try some of these. I would recommend this to anyone who likes trying new cocktails and wants some fun inspiration from tarot!

I absolutely ADORED this book and had to order a copy for my shelves. As someone whose loved tarot cards for decades, I found this to be such a fun and fresh take on them. A book that I not only enjoyed once, but one that I will revisit many times to come.

I don’t have much experience with tarot, but this book actually made it easier for me to conceptualize each card based off of its associated drink. My friends talk a lot about tarot and now I feel like I can understand the conversations. The cocktails are great and the art work was beautiful as well

This was a fascinating read. It was such an interesting concept and I loved every minute of it. How can you not love tarot and tequila?

This was an interesting read, I haven't done Tarot so it taught me some of that and then to find the fun drinks to go along with it was cool. However, in order to make these drinks you either have to have a really good stocking of bar stuff or you are going to have to go buy a lot of stuff just to make these and if you don't like them then you are stuck with stuff you probably won't use.

This book was very interesting and such a creative idea. I loved reading about the different tarot meanings and then connecting the drink recipes to the cards. It would make for such a fun event to host or fun night in with friends or adults. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in tarot, spirits or Halloween.

I am here for this. I absolutely love to read new books about tarot as I feel I can always learn more about my craft. This book was no exception! I loved it, and it was written with a nice little comedic side to it.

I really enjoyed this book. Part tarot guide and part cocktail recipe book, it makes for an interesting read that is beautifully illustrated. The cocktail recipes are intriguing to say the least. Some require pre-planning (eg fig infused bourbon has to infuse for a week before being ready to use) and a lot of the ingredients are only used in one or two of the recipes, so unless you’re planning on making that one recipe a bunch of times until the ingredients are used up, it could be a bit wasteful and time consuming.

I was a little disappointed to discover that only half of the recipes use tequila, the rest use other spirits. I was looking forward to a bunch of new tequila cocktails to try. Either way, the recipes still sound interesting enough to try at least once.

Ross's introduction to his Tarot & Tequila is a fascinating look at his quite accidental foray into tarot. The inclusion of drink pairings and his reverse card meanings make this unlike other tarot books or similar items in this category. And the delightful Sugar Skull Deck illustrations by Carolina Martinez will make you wish for a set of your own. Whether new to tarot or an Arcana aficionado, readers will enjoy exploring the various interpretations while sipping on Ross's recipes

I loved this book! Wish I got it hardcover, the imagery was beautiful. The explanations were on point. You can definitely tell this was written by a lover of the arcana.

Tarot & Tequila was described as a positive and spiritually uplifting guide which intrigued me but once I started reading I was… underwhelmed. Maybe this book was just not meant for me.

I’m not one to make my own cocktails so all of the tequila recipes seemed to be intended for someone with more cocktail knowledge, like a bartender or someone that is really into their hone bar. This would be a cool book to have around for a western theme party.

When it comes to the descriptions of the tarot, they came across as almost forced. Like, by trying to fit into this theme for the book the spirituality got lost. To me it almost read like getting advice from the guy at the end of the bar.

The Tarot card illustrations in the book are incredible. Carolina Martínez does a great job of creating images that fit the theme but also capture the essence of the card itself.

I was really excited for this title as somebody who really enjoys tequila and finds Taro quite fascinating. While I think that the recipes are indeed very creative and the way that they relate back to the cards is as well, there could have been stronger connections made. It felt a little bit random at moments, especially with the reverse cards. Another thing that may discourage some purchasers of this book is that many of the cocktail recipes require extremely specific, hard to find ingredients that may feel out of their reach. As somebody who has a fairly well stocked home bar, I didn't have most of these things and neither have any of the bars I have worked at. This isn't to say the recipes are ineffective, they're lovely and quite exciting. But anyone buying this needs to know that they're going to need to do a bit of hunting in order to be able to make the lion's share of what's in the book. All in all, I think this book is beautiful, well curated, and definitely a good addition to the home bar of any creative cocktail enthusiast. Another point in the book's favor is that it has absolutely stunning illustrations. I could look at them all day and this would even make a beautiful coffee table book.

I don’t really drink (and when I do, it’s not usually tequila), but I do read tarot cards, so I’m probably not exactly the target audience for this book. I was really curious about how the author would relate the two, however. I did read through the drink recipes, but I feel I should add that I did not make or taste any of them. They did seem rather random -- or if there was a real reason for the choice, the author didn’t really explain why the drink and card went together. I’m not really clear about the meanings and reversed meanings for tequila that were attached to each card either. Honestly, I still don’t get how the whole tequila and tarot thing goes together. It just really seems random to me.

As for the tarot portion of the book, the meanings as interpreted by the author are fairly clear and easy to understand if somewhat basic, and I did appreciate that meanings for reversed cards were included. I did love the graphics and illustrations used, and drew me in when choosing this book. I would definitely use the tarot card portion of the book as a quick reference.

This book features explanations of tarot cards, as well as tequila-based cocktails to pair with most of the cards. The illustrations are absolutely gorgeous, and I appreciated that the author explained certain techniques, and included recipes for recommended syrups.

First things first. I’m not what you would call a spiritual person. I love the idea of divination and tarot. I find it fascinating, but I’m not a believer. However, I find tarot beautiful. I’ve only ever seen one deck that wasn’t absolutely flawless in its beauty. So when I saw the Tarot and Tequila ARC, I was excited. I enjoy tequila and I admire Tarot. I doubt that I will be using the cocktail recipes appropriately but I can’t wait to try some! The art is beautiful, as to be expected. I look forward to the day I can recommend this to patron. We have quite a few Wicca, divination, and tarot books because they prove to be popular. With the pandemic still lingering and uncertain, I can’t say that I could make it happen, but an adult program surrounding this would be excellent. Learning how to do reading and then how to make corresponding cocktails would be a smash!
