Another Lottie Parker book from Patricia Gibney and another great read. Number 9 in the series and I think maybe one of the best yet. Lottie and Boyd are finally going to settle down and get married but you just know it won’t be easy. A great plot, delving into just how far reaching jealously, guilt and betrayal can effect generations. Horrendous deaths, with bodies piling up and the clock ticking on the nuptials, make for a rollercoaster of a read. I love this series, the subplot and the characters who are all beautifully flawed and real.

‘Silent Voices’ in the ninth novel in the DI Lottie Parker series by Patricia Gibney. A strong entry in a series that in going from strength to strength. I always look forward to the release of a new novel by Patricia Gibney as I know that I will enjoy an exciting storyline, lead by well-developed and entertaining characters.
Since first meeting Lottie Parker, the character has developed and undergone many changes; Lottie is by no means perfect, but she has grown over the series and the reader has seen her battle her personal demons as she supports her family, alongside tackling some gruesome murders and discovering the truth about her past.
Within the opening pages, Gibney manages to grab your attention and does not let your attention escape – first we learn of a shocking murder from 9 years ago and then just, as we settle into the joy of Lottie and Mark’s wedding day, the second bomb shell is dropped…..
The author uses the feature of time in a highly effective manner by then stepping back in time to a week before the wedding and showcasing the horrific murders that lead up the ‘big day’.
Always Gibney does not shy away from gruesome plotlines but manages to mix the horror with plenty of light relief in the space of characters such as Kirby and his dialogue with Lottie, or indeed the conversation with Mark and Lottie. There are plenty of twists in this storyline and even when I think that I’ve spotted the direction of the story, there is another curveball to keep me on my toes!
An excellent tale that mixes murder, horror and epic twists.
