A beautiful book, with a lot of genuinely interesting facts. This would be a fantastic supplement to many KS2 themes or as a beautiful edition to the class library to b dipped in and out of.

The Wild World Handbook Habitats takes readers on a journey across the world with challenges to get the reader to participate in their own habitats. The book reads like a magazine full of facts, biographies of environmentalists, and gorgeous illustrations. Debbink makes the reader care about the state of the world's habitats and engages the reader through genuine, authentic ideas that they can actually attempt. I like that Debbink even includes cities as a habitat. This is surprising to children who may only associate habitats with places in nature with less human interference. Overall this is a highly recommended title that I would purchase for my own school library and to give as gifts.

Beautifully designed and great graphics. Some pages felt a little text heavy, but I think this will appeal to budding environmentalists and those who are curious about or care about the outdoor world around them. It might not have wide appeal, but it will fill it's niche well.

I got this on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review!

This is a really well-made non-fiction book about the world's different Habitats! It gives a lot of different information related to each habitat, and the illustrations are so great! Only negative I could find is that I wish it didn't have such long chunks of text, and broke it up a little more, but otherwise really enjoyed it!

This is one of those books I needed to buy the physical copy of after reading the e-galley. Comprised of gorgeous drawings and activities as well as information about the world's habitats, this book is perfect for mid to upper elementary classrooms as well as home libraries. One of the parts of the book that I was particularly enamored with were the biographies. Each habitat section includes several biographies of people whose lives were devoted to helping the environment and, specifically that habitat. From Ansel Adams to Margaret Murie, from conservationists to storytellers, so many interesting biopics of people who have worked tirelessly to preserve our planet.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for the chance to read a digital arc in exchange for my feedback.

The Wild World Handbook is a stunningly-illustrated exploration of the far reaches of our wonderful planet. It would be perfect to use alongside a Geography topic on environments, continents, biomes, etc. Illustrations are detailed and eye-catching, and explanations are well=pitched for an UKS2 audience, with just the right amount of information and technical vocabulary to give pupils a good depth of knowledge without being overwhelmed.

I really enjoyed this book and its illustrations! I think it would make a perfect gift for anyone who has a young climate activist in their life or someone who wants to help a child connect with nature. This book is comprehensive and also has good representation of people and stories that have dedicated their lives to helping heal the Earth. I was able to read this through NetGalley.

The wild World Handbook: Habitat is an amazing book that will get many readers. It is jammed packed with great facts and interesting habitats. The illustrations only add to the overall educational effort. I loved the way the book mixed the education of the habitat and how readers can help support nature through stories of actual activists.

The Wild World Handbook: Habitats is a fantastic exploration of all the different major habitats in our world, with a focus on conservation that is perfect for nature-loving children.

This middle-grade nonfiction is split into 9 chapters that cover the mountains, forests, rainforests, deserts, grasslands, polar lands, the ocean, freshwater, and cities. Each chapter includes two biographies, a natural wonder, a field trip idea, a story of environmental success, a DIY project, and ideas for good stewardship in that particular environment.

The field trip ideas are very interactive, prompting the reader to research or visit (or both!) a mountain or forest or ocean in the area and gives many questions to find answers to as well as how to wander, explore, and record their findings. The DIY pages are especially fun and the Stewardship pages give lots of great ways to care for or repair nature.

There is lots to learn and do in this fun look at our world's habitats!

This is a really cute way to share the world with kids. More set for middle school (some of the info might be too advanced for younger elementary age kids). The graphics are adorable and the information is important to share with everyone.

Genre: nonfiction
Age: upper elementary/middle grade
Curriculum Use: science units (habitats, landforms), biography units

This illustrated guide would be a great addition to a classroom library or as a curriculum resource as it introduces academic vocabulary and provides engaging illustrations and stories from around the world. The text is written at the upper elementary/middle grade level but could be used in teacher-led activities and lessons. There are nine chapters, each focusing on a different habitat, including one on cities. Each chapter includes habitat facts, two short biographies, information on natural wonders, field trip/outdoor activities, environmental success stories, DIY art projects, and stewardship pages. Two-thirds of the biographies are about people of color and women. One biography centers a person who uses a wheelchair. The book also explains how colonization and industrialization have harmed Indigenous communities and habitats while noting how current and past generations are restoring the land. This guide provides examples of young people making a difference and ends each chapter with ways readers can take action at home. This book would make a great gift for young explorers and nature lovers.

What an excellent text for use in the primary school. I have added this to my website. I think the hybrid nature of the forms of writing will really appeal to both children and teachers. This would certainly enhance the teaching of non-fiction in the classroom but would also link well to fiction texts. I shall be recommending this on my courses. It will be good to get hold of a hard copy to show teachers.

This is a wonderfully illustrated and interesting book about habitats around the world, and what we can do to help our planet. I really enjoyed the stories about specific people who have worked to positively impact their environments. It helps tie in a personal angle to the amazing habitat information.

The Wild World Handbook: Habitats

This is a call to all nature lovers, and to those who love the world we are living in.

An amazing book, with lovely illustrations that teach us about all the different habitats we can find in the world, from the snowy peaks of Mount Everest to the Rainforest, this book got it all.

Fun facts, real adventures, natural wonders, ideas dor environmental activism, some suggestions for field trips, it’s all wrapped into this amazing book with stunning cover.

I love nature, I kind of grew up surrounded by mountains, small rivers, waterfalls and with no neighbor in sight. And I loved it and appreciated it so much. And obviously when I got older, I wanted to go to the big city, and now 6 years later, I’m back surrounded by mountains and the river called L’Ardèche.

We should cherish nature, seeing the forest burning, or humans kill the forest in order to get more space to live, breaks my heart. Animals that et extinct, because of their habitats are getting destroyed, is just horrifying, and I’m not sure what the future will give us…

The Wild World Handbook: Habitats, is not only a book for kids, we adults could learn just as much from it. A real read for a real nature lover.
