Very different from the Island and Fudge making setting. This new series by Nancy Coco may be, dare I say so, even better!!

With a beautiful Oregon Coast setting and relatable characters, this series is unique and fun. I look forward to more in the future.

I’ve always enjoyed Nancy Coco’s Fudge Shop series, so I was eager to try this one! Wren, the owner of a natural honey products store in coastal Oregon, stumbles on a dead body while walking on the beach. It leads to a string of events where she is accused of the murder, and eventually in danger. She knows she’s being framed and needs to figure out how to prove it. It was a promising start to a new series and I’m looking forward to seeing what comes next.

Thanks to Net Galley and Kensington for the complimentary digital review copy of this title.

Death Bee Comes Her by Nancy CoCo is the first book in the cozy An Oregon Honeycomb Mystery series. As with most cozy mystery series the An Oregon Honeycomb Mystery series will feature a new mystery to be solved in each new installment so they can be read as a standalone if choosing to do so.

Wren Johnson lives in Oceanview, Oregon near the beach in the Pacific Northwest with her Havana Brown cat, Everett. Wren owns the Let It Bee boutique that specializes in all things honey and even has a glass wall with an actual bee hive inside for customers to view.

Wren has been preparing for the Halloween festival when she wanders upon the body of Agnes Snow. It seems that in her death Agnes is holding a label from one of Wren’s natural products which sends the investigation straight to Wren’s door closing down Let It Bee. Wren knows she needs to find out who really did away with Agness before she ends up not only losing business but behind bars.

I really enjoyed reading this opener of the Oregon Honeycomb Mystery series and getting to know Wren and her shop. The series had that quirky vibe that I adore with a a lot of laughs, likable characters, a beachy setting, an interesting theme in the honey shop along with a cute critter in Everett. Mix all of the ingredients together and we have a new cozy that I’ll be happy to return to in the second book of the series.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

The Pacific Northwest's coast has lots of rainy weather, it also has the tourist town of Oceanview where we find the new series, Oregon Honeycomb Mystery taking place. The author has done a wonderful job of setting us up with Wren and her Havana Brown cat, Everett. Wren is the owner of a specialty shop in this tourist town. She specializes in handmade beeswax and honey made products including lip balm, candles and face moisturizers .
All is well until a woman is found dead clutching one of her homemade lip balms. Of course the suspicion is thrown right into her lap with such an obvious clue. I loved the caring relationship she has with her cat who has more than a casual mention in the book.
I enjoyed the characters and the recipes for home made honey facial creams and more sounds divine. We are nicely set up for the next book in the series which releases in March and I am looking forward to reading it.

Even though though this is the first book in a brand new series the author does a nice job of introducing the characters and giving us details about the book by delivering them through dialogue or narratives quite smoothly. The mystery is well written and has lots of clues, plenty of suspects, a few red herrings, and some twists and turns that will have you guessing who the killer is until the suspense filled conclusion. The characters are well developed and all have their own personalities, traits, and flaws that will soon have them feeling like old friends. The author does a nice job of describing what is going on in the book so you can see what's happening in your head.

I'm a fan of the author's Candy-Coated mystery series so when I saw she had a new series out I had to give it a chance and I'm glad I did, this seems like another series that I will become a fan of. I enjoyed following along with Wren as she worked her way through the clues and suspects with the help of her aunt and her cat. The author attempts to give Wren a romantic life that seems to be unsuccessful, but it didn't play a prominent role in the plot. I enjoyed the honey and bee related facts throughout the book, I learned some interesting things about bees and honey. The one thing that I had a problem with was when Everett was put into a box that was nailed shut, I know this was important to the plot but the author didn't have to put the cat in danger. I look forward to reading the next book A Matter of Hive and Death to see what Wren and the other characters get themselves into.

I received an ARC of this book from Kensington through NetGalley for my honest review.

This is the first book in the new Oregon Honeycomb Mystery series. The main character is Wren Johnson the owner of a shop specializing in honey products. After Wren stumbles on a dead body she and her Aunt Eloise and her friend and employee Porsche set out to solve the mystery and clear Wren's name. The book is full of honey recipes which I found interesting and I think the characters are enjoyable. I really enjoyed the setting and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

This was the first book in a new series and I thought it was a decent start.

Wren owns a shop that specializes in Bee byproducts and even has the bee hives inside her shop for her shoppers to look at. Wren’s aunt and Agnes Stone are pretty big crafting competitors and so when Wren runs across the body of Agnes and she is clutching the label from one of Wren’s lip balms, she becomes suspect number one.

Wren decides she is going to try and figure out who actually done it since she knows she didn’t do it and the police don’t seem to be interested in finding anyone else right at that moment. The cop Jim doesn’t want her snooping around, especially when some other things happens that makes it seem like she could be harmed.

It seems there are several people that were not on great terms with Agnes and could have a reason for wanting her dead. It also seems that someone is not wanting Wren snooping which gets Wren in more trouble with the law.

Overall, I liked Wren but I think she was a little bit of a pain with her snooping when Jim would tell her not too. He was trying to protect her, as was her lawyer, who also told her to stay home, but she kept going out and getting herself in trouble or making herself look even more like the bad guy. I liked both the cop and the lawyer probably more than I liked Wren.

I did think the mystery in this one was a bit different and kind of sad once you find out the reason. It also had a bit of a twist at the end that was cool.

I liked it, but I will have to try the next one to see if it becomes a series I want to continue. Sometimes with cozies you have to try more than one book to really get into the characters and town, etc.

What an amazing start to a very promising series! I loved the main character and fell in love with her life and the town itself. I can’t wait to read more in this series.

Death Bee Comes Her by Nancy Coco is the first book in the Oregon Honeycomb Mystery series. Wren owns a honey themed store on the Oregon coast which she shares with her cat Everett. While on their morning walk along the beach, Everett finds the body of a woman who is Wren's aunt's crafting rival. Wren becomes the only suspect and has to work to clear her name. This series has potential, and I really wanted to love it. One issue is the narrow focus of the police. Wren is the only suspect even when she is targeted herself. My second issue was the murder. The motive was extremely weak, and it was never truly solved. Third is the various editing blunders. Hopefully these were resolved in the final printing, but many were so obvious I question why no one caught them for the ARC. I do like the author's other series and for that reason would try a second book in this one.

A good start for a new cozy series!
I love the style of writing of Nancy Coco and this book doesn't disappoint.
It's well written, engrossing and entertaining.
The characters and the plot are well developed, the solid mystery kept me guessing.
I can't wait to read the next installment, this one is recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

A fairly quick cozy mystery read. While not a favorite mystery I did enjoy it. I am beginning to find that I'm not a huge fan of cozy series in which the first book starts with the heroine being the main suspect. Just once I want a cozy that the heroine decides to solve it because she likes solving mysteries or puzzles not o clear her own name.

Death Bee Comes Her is the first book in the new "An Oregon Honeycomb Mystery" series by Nancy Coco. Am I the only one obsessed with honey bees right now? The bee theme is totally what drew me to this book!

This was such a fun cozy mystery set in Oceanview, Oregon. I loved that it's Halloween and there is a festival! The town is great and I loved the characters! The mystery was fascinating and kept me guessing.

I really enjoy the author's writing style. Her books are easy to read and draw you in!

I look forward to reading the second book in the series, A Matter of Hive and Death! Hopefully there are many more to come!

I'm so grateful to Nancy Coco, Kensington Books, and NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this ARC ebook in exchange for my honest review.

A great new cozy mystery with a unique setting! I'm always looking for a fresh take on the cozy mystery genre and this one was fun! The setting is a gift shop centered around all things bees, including a bee hive that the customers can watch the bees in their natural habitat. The shop owner, Wren, while being from the town has been gone for several years and just came back to be near her Aunt and open her shop making her an "outsider" in the eyes of the locals. When a frenemy of the Aunt's is found dead Wren finds herself at the top of the suspect list. The characters are really well developed which is hard to do in the first of a cozy mystery series as there usually isn't enough pages to feel like the character gets fully fleshed out. The author did an outstanding job of making her characters feel real and lead you to connect with them. The plot was interesting, entertaining and keep you turning pages! I absolutely can't wait to see what happens next in this series as I will definitely be coming back for more!

Another favorite by a great author. I fell in love with this authors writing. The plot of the story was very well written. The author really draws the reader in as you read. I felt like I was an unnamed character in the story.

This is a very exciting new mystery series! There is action around every corner in which Wren finds herself in a pickle and ends up being questioned by the police. Wren is not afraid of anything. She is very confident, headstrong, determined, and very loyal to her friends and family. She gets along well with Detective Jim Jones. I'm very interested to see where this relationship goes in the future. I wish her shop were real because it sounds fascinating and I would love to visit and pick up some hand cream. The story is laden with many facts about bees and contains many wonderful recipes using honey as an ingredient. I haven't tried the recipes yet, but I plan on trying some of them in the future. This is a great series for cozy mystery enthusiasts!
Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!

What an un-bee-lievable start to a new series from Nancy CoCo!

The first few words of the first chapter immediately draws the reader in to want to know more about the quirky inhabitants of a town in Oregon. The protagonist, Wren Johnson, finds herself drawn into a murder mystery after simply trying to take her cat for a walk on the beach. Throughout the book, Wren has to prove that she wasn't the one that committed the murder, and the reader gets introduced to many charming characters along the way. I loved the dynamic between Wren, her Aunt Eloise, and her friend/employee, Porsche. Porsche just seemed like a really fun person to work with and be friends with -- definitely a couple laughable moments with her.

The story itself drew me in so much that I finished the book in a matter of hours. I wanted to keep reading and to know more about this town and the people that live there. The setting of Let It Bee was really fun and different to read in a cozy mystery, and I enjoyed that a lot. I've always enjoyed bees and bee products but I think I gained even more respect after reading this book. I appreciated the recipes and tips spread out throughout the chapters. I just wish that Let It Bee was a real store I could visit -- I'd be sure to buy up all the lip balm.

I also liked that the Halloweentown festivities were brought up because it really is a real event that happens every year in St. Helens, OR and I've always wanted to go to it. Loved this book, loved the characters and the setting, and I can't wait to read more!

I'm really enjoyed reading the debut book of a new series by Nancy Coco. The main character Wren Johnson is likable, intelligent, relatable, and well-developed. The storyline is well-crafted moving at a smooth steady pace. There are only a few suspects but this doesn't mean you know whodunit, there are plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing. The setting of the Halloweentown Festival added a lot of fun to the story. This was one of my daughter's favorite movies as a kid, we watched it together every year. The is an entertaining cozy for any time of the year but a great one for the Halloween season. I am looking forward to more of this series.

All thoughts and opinions are my own, and in no way have I been influenced by anyone.

The owner of a boutique featuring honey products on the Oregon coast discovers a body on the beach while walking with her cat. She becomes a suspect in the woman's murder, and also is moved to investigate, particularly when her cat and her business are threatened. I liked the inclusion of the cat and also the unique type of business. However, I did find a few loose ends that never seemed to be wrapped up in this book. Perhaps future episodes are to come, but it did make me wonder why some characters were included and then just "dropped."

Princess Fuzzypants here: When Wren discovers the body of her aunt’s rival on the beach as she walks her cat, Everett, it is upsetting. When the police question her as a possible suspect it is even worse. But when they discover the cause of death was Wren’s handmade lip balm, she is ”convicted” in the eyes of many of the townspeople, including, it seems, the police. No matter what she does, she seems to be drawn deeper and deeper into the appearance of guilt. It becomes clear to her that someone is doing a bang up job framing her. If she cannot find the real perp, she may be going to prison for crime she did not commit.

Wren and her aunt follow leads that, far from exonerating her, only indite her more. She crosses the line on occasion and each time walks into another carefully laid trap. But when Everett disappears, things really spiral out of control. She does discover the killer but not before she has many tense and scary moments. There is an interesting twist to the motive to the murder of not just the first victim but a second murder too.

Interspersed with an entertaining story, we learn more about bees. I found the information fascinating. I will never look at a bee the same. It was a good read for a cold winter’s day.

Four purrs and two paws up.
