One of Kubica's better ones! Two women who live in the same neighborhood go missing along one of the women's young daughter. Told chapter by chapter in present tense and past tense (11 years ago) by all characters involved; husbands, wives, lovers, son, neighbors etc. Very "Desperate Housewives " vibe.

I feel like the last bookstagrammer to read this book, but it was phenomenal! I loved it!! I'm always a fan of domestic thrillers especially with suburban families and dark secrets.

Local Woman Missing is a propulsive thriller, once I started I was hooked. The writing was excellent, character development was impressive, especially with multiple POVs.

Don't miss out on this binge-worthy book, the plot will reel you right in!!

@marykubica can do no wrong!! I've read all of her books and she never fails to impress!!

Thank you to @acericolalife and @parkrowbooks for the giveaway win!! Also thank Netgalley for my digital copy to review!

I have a very embarrassing confession to make. I have been reading for (covers mouth and mumbles) years and this is the first book I have read by Ms. Kubica. Sad for me that I now realize that I have been missing out on an author of exceptional writing.

This story grabbed me from the start and would not let go. I felt that I was there! The suspense sped throughout the book and I had to hold on. I did not even bother to try and figure out who the suspect was because I was turning the pages as fast as I could and devouring every word. The characters felt like I knew each and every one of them. The writing extraordinary!!!

A white knuckle read that was difficult to put down. Totally engrossing!! A captivating tale, that when I did turn the last page, I knew that this is a book that will stay with me for quite a while. A shocking ending!!

Ms. Kubica is now on my "authors to read" list. I definitely will be checking out her previous books!!!!!

4.5 stars

This was definitely my fave by Mary Kubica. The prologue and first chapter..omg. So good! I did have to suspend some belief towards the end, but who cares. I rolled with it anyways and was surprised by the turn of events.

Highly recommend this one.

Trigger warnings: kidnapping, child abuse

Shelby, a new mom, goes missing while jogging. Shortly after, Meredith and Delilah, a mother and child, go missing. Are these abductions connected? Is there a serial kidnapper on the loose in the area? Maybe, but while Shelby and Meredith are found, Delilah remains missing. The case goes cold. Then, five years later, Delilah turns up. Will she be the key to solving the mystery? What will she reveal?

I love a book that keep the reader guessing, and Mary Kubica's book, 'Local Woman Missing" is a wild ride with lots of unexpected twists and turns. Just when you think you have it all figured out, Kubica reveals a tidbit that throws your theory on the trash heap. However, the ending was a huge disappointment. It felt rushed, like Kubica had to bring the story to a quick resolution, and so "thunk" here's your ending.

In spite of that, the book is still worth the read.

Lots of twists and turns that I did not see coming, Meredith got on my last nerve; her choices to keep things from her husband seemed problematic. Still, there are people who make those choices. I recommend listening to the audio book.

Shelby Tebow, a new mother goes missing one night while on a run. Then not long after, Meredith and her 6 year old daughter, Delilah, go missing not far from where Shelby vanished. Is a serial killer or abductor on the loose? Eleven years later, Delilah suddenly returns. What happened eleven years earlier?

I loved this book! My favorite by Mary Kubica. Five stars!

Mary Kubica is a go-to author for me when it comes to mysteries and thrillers. This was honestly one of my favorites from her! I was hooked from the beginning and stayed up way too late because I couldn't put it down!

Kubica's books are always great to read, suspenseful and never disappointing surprise endings! A great summer read.

New mother Shelby Tebow goes missing while out on a late night jog. Then doula Meredith Dickey and her six-year-old daughter Delilah disappear close to where Shelby was last seen. Despite an extensive search, both cases go cold. Then 11 years later, Delilah shockingly returns after escaping from her captors. Delilah's father and younger brother Leo try to help her adjust to normal life but she is a damaged soul.

This thriller goes in directions that I was not expecting towards the end of the story, and shows how far desperate people will go to keep their secrets hidden.

I received a digital ARC from Netgalley and Harlequin with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and provided this review.

This was just a middle of the road read for me. The story grabbed me from the beginning and I was interested in the outcome, but there were too many times in which unbelievable events occured and characters made ridiculous decisions. This took some of the enjoyment out of the read. And in the end, there was still unexplained answers to certain events within the story that made it unsatifying when finished.

I'm a big fan of this author in general, and have read quite a few of their books. This one was captivating right from the very beginning. I found it hard to put down and absolutely flew through it, even though I was living a hectic life when I was reading it.

I'm a huge fan of books with multiple points of view, especially in a psychological thriller. This and the fact that there were multiple timeliness (now and 11 years before), made everything unfold in a wonderful way. I found that I was interested in every character's point of view and both timeliness equally, which is a huge feat!

The first major twist caught me so off guard I was in shock. The ending completely blew my mind! I highly recommend this one if you need a good thriller.

I really enjoyed this book and I think that it is Mary's Kubica's best story yet! I've been telling a lot of people to pick this up for their summer beach bag!

I think Mary Kubics’s new novel, Local Woman Missing is my favorite of her books.  First Shelby, a new mother, goes out for a jog one evening and never comes home.  Then a few weeks later, Meredith and her 6 year old daughter go missing from the same neighborhood .  The characters were very relatable, flawed but likable. A few times, i felt I was little confused by the shifting back and forth of time frames but this didn’t take away from the plot line.  I was not able to figure out who was responsible for the two  disappearances.  I kept jumping from one person to another, was it just one person responsible for both or were the two disappearances unrelated.  I did not not see the ending coming.   A definite page turner that will keep you guessing till the end.  If you are looking for  a good  read this summer, add this to your TBR list.

"Local Woman Missing" by Mary Kubica was a chilling, thrilling, fast moving mystery! As a young woman escapes her captors after 11 years in a dark basement, a surprising chain of events occur in resolving deaths and disappearances of persons in a small community. Very unpredictable and hard to put down story. Thank you NetGalley, author and publisher for the copy for review. All opinions are my own.

I've devoured several other of Mary Kubica's books so I was thrilled to dive into this one. I was hooked from the first page but that suspense and excitement quickly fizzled out for me. I can't put my finger on why I didn't really like this book but I think it just never really picked up for me and was rather boring. I will say that I did not see the big reveal coming but there was more to be explained I believe that wasn't explained and the book felt like it ended a little abruptly.

Mary Kubica is an expert at psychological thriller writing. She throws in twists that no one sees coming and no one can be trusted.
Delilah and her mom go missing and the mom is found dead in a remote hotel from an apparent suicide. Now six years later the daughter has escaped her captors but her life has not returned to normal. She doesn’t remember her brother from before she was taken. Her father is trying to price together what happened. The story is told from multiple viewpoints and timelines.

Thank you Netgalley for a copy in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own.

Oh, Mary Kubica, you’ve done it to me again!

I love Kubica’s suspenseful and well-plotted writing and every time she produces a new novel I tell myself that I will NOT stay up all night reading it! And, of course, I do! This was a fast read (just a note that I started it and worried it would be too disturbing for me but it wasn’t). I do enjoy her stories, and she was a guest once on my good friend Amy’s blog (www.momadvice.com), so I discovered that Mary Kubica is a friendly and funny woman who is humble about her amazing writing accomplishments.

If you like suspense, don’t miss this one!

Thank you for making me part of the tour!

Mary Kubica is a fantastic author and I knew Local Woman Missing would be just as good as her other work. This is one of the best books I’ve read so far this year. We have Shelby, Meredith, Kate and Bee. All living in the same neighborhood. Shelby is missing and within weeks, Meredith and her daughter go missing. The story goes back and forth from past an present and also switches narrators. Delilah goes over her time in captivity, Kate goes over the past and present of the days leading up to Meredith and Delilah’s disappearances and Delilah’s return. Leo, Delilah’s brother goes over the present. I did NOT see the end coming. I will be recommending this to everybody I encounter.

Shelby Tebow is the first to go missing. Not long after, Meredith Dickey and her six-year-old daughter, Delilah, vanish just blocks away from where Shelby was last seen, striking fear into their once-peaceful community. Are these incidents connected? After an elusive search that yields more questions than answers, the case eventually goes cold.

Now, eleven years later, Delilah shockingly returns. Everyone wants to know what happened to her, but no one is prepared for what they'll find…

A terrifying thriller from a writer who never fails to bring our fears to shocking life, lock the doors and cancel your plans because Mary Kubica is back with a riveting new page-turner: Local Woman Missing.

Shelby Tebow’s disappearance sent shockwaves reverberating all around the local community. Everybody’s fears intensified when Meredith Dickey and her six year old daughter Delilah also went missing a couple of weeks later a couple of blocks away from where Shelby was last seen. The whole community is scared and everybody is terrified. With fear beating in the heart of the once peaceful neighborhood, uncertainty and terror are stalking the community’s streets leaving everybody to wonder whether these incidents were connected. As the police do not manage to find any answers, the case eventually goes cold. However, the sins of the past have a habit of resurfacing – as everybody discovers when eleven years later, Delilah makes a shocking return to the neighborhood.

After an absence of more than a decade, everybody wants to know what happened to her. Where did she go? Why did she stay away so long? And why did she decide to return after so long? Everybody is desperate to uncover the secrets of the past, but are they aware of just what they will find? Are they prepared for the shocking repercussions Delilah’s return is going to put in motion? As long-buried secrets come to light, nobody is safe and no one is prepared for just what is going to happen next…

Mary Kubica is at her chilling best with Local Woman Missing. Intelligently written, highly suspenseful and packed with twists and turns you simply will not see coming, Local Woman Missing is a superb thriller about devastating lies, dangerous secrets and past mistakes where the pages will just turn themselves.

Mary Kubica knows how to keep her readers in the palm of her hands with Local Woman Missing, she once again proves to be one of the thriller genre’s finest practitioners.
