Wow, is all I have to say! This was a super fast read full of secrets, twists, and drama! Chapters alternated between different characters stories in the present day and 11 years before. Suspense is the name of the game here...and learning just how far some people fall in the name of self-preservation. Definitely an entertaining page turner and something I will buy for the library!

An entertaining thriller narrated from multiple perspectives, some now and some eleven years ago. As the story progresses, the pieces fall into place. It was enjoyable and had lots of unexpected twists and turns but (spoiler alert) the main twist at the end was too clever by half. Made it a bit too gothic. That said, I raced through it and read to the end.

I enjoyed reading this author's other books and this book did not disappoint. This was a suspenseful read with many twists. When a local doula and her 6 year old daughter go missing, the whole neighborhood gets together to look for them without success. Then, eleven years later the daughter shows up but instead of providing answers this raises a bunch more questions. A true page-turner with an ending I really didn't see coming....

This book takes off running and doesn't stop. Intriguing, thrilling and suspenseful with a handful of characters that come to life, I couldn't put this book down until I finished it. Mary Kubica is an excellent mystery writer and she just gets better and better. I never would have guessed the twist at the end, but it was a good one. This is a great book to be reading when your stuck inside during a snowstorm. Or any other time! Thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was another stellar suspense novel by Mary Kubica. I thought I knew exactly where this book was going but was pleasantly surprised with the way she crafts this thriller. Instead of being investigator based, Local Woman Missing is a novel that is told from the perspective of several characters who are all interwoven into the story and transitions between the past and the present.

How well do you really know your neighbors? These people you may call friends and are surrounded by every day. How well do you know your significant other? The person you love and plan to spend your life with. What happens if something terrible happens that completely changes the course of your life - how far would you go to keep your secret safe?

This book kept me guessing until the final plot twist reveal and left me really questioning how well I really know all of the people in my life. I also really enjoyed the variety in the POVs and timelines that were used to tell this story.

Kubica is a master at the psychological thriller. Nearly every major and minor character became a suspect to the disappearance of Shelby, Meredith and Delilah. With each page I turned, surprising new events unraveled leading me to suspect someone else of the crimes committed. Definitely an edge of your seat, can't put down read!

Let me thank NetGalley, the publishing house, and the author for allowing me an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.
One woman goes missing leaving her newborn baby and husband behind. Weeks later another local woman and her young daughter don’t come home. Then what follows is a twisty tale told from the current prospective (11 years after the missing people) and leading up to the crimes (11 years prior). Without giving anything at all away, there are many examples of what has happened in the book in modern day true crime which makes the book that much more believable. There wasn't any ridiculous far-out -there twists just for the sake of calling it a thriller. I enjoy reading this author.

Suspense junkies will be satisfied with this one. The plot twists and turns until the very end. Characters are engaging and real and you really care about the outcome. I will recommend to many and really enjoyed this book.

One missing woman has a community slightly on edge. 2 Missing women and a missing child? Are the disappearances connected? Does your opinion change when the missing child returns 11 years later?

Told from the "today" view of Kate (the neighbor) and Leo (the missing child's sister) as well as the "then" view from Meredith (missing woman #2), this book is well written. It was easy to stay on track with who's character is being voiced and provides a well rounded look at both the situation leading up to the disappearance as well as the modern discovery of the missing child being returned.

One of the things I love in a thriller is my inability to guess the twists or the ending. This one satisfied both of these. I was absorbed into this book quickly. You always look to the husband when a woman goes missing, but I'll let you in on a secret - you won't be able to guess who's responsible in this one. First, there are 2 potential husbands to choose from and then there are all the secrets the neighbors are keeping...

I found Leo's view the most "refreshing". Realistic, emotional, and raw. I'd have to say that while difficult to read at times, I cannot imagine being in his shoes. His life has been irreparably changed from his sister's disappearance.

Well done, Mary Kubica! And thank you to Park Row for allowing me to read this and give my honest opinion.

It is always a treat to sink into a Mary Kubica book. This delivered and then some. You just never know what is happening in your neighborhood. This had me guessing ‘who done it’ to the last page. I read it on a rainy Saturday afternoon.

I couldn’t put this book down. I can’t believe I finished it so quickly.

In a quiet suburban neighborhood, a woman goes missing leaving behind her husband and newborn baby. A few weeks later, another woman disappears, with her six year old daughter.

You would expect that this would be investigation driven but it was POV driven—Kate, neighbor. Meredith, who is missing, and Leo, the grown up brother of the missing girl. It was such a great way to reveal the facts of the case.

The book opened with an absolutely insane, triggering child in captivity scene that I really wished I could have mentally prepared for. But it did the job getting me utterly hooked.

The end was a little tortured but I was surprised and shaken when I finished. Everything I would want from a thriller. A high recommend.

Mary Kubica has done it again! Local Woman Missing was an immediately gripping and all consuming page turner for me. The story was intense and had me hooked from the very first page to the very last page. Make sure to put this one on your TBR list because it’s definitely one not to be missed!

Local Woman Missing by Mary Kubica. was quite a story, and one that I couldn’t put down. There were many layers to this story. I wasn’t sure at first, reading the first few chapters, but it kept my interest throughout. There is certainly much more going on than just a woman missing. The story although a little choppy kept my interest and had me kicking up my speed reading to see what would happen next. It starts to all connect, and gets even more intense as the book goes on. The ending was explosive, and one that I didn’t see coming. I highly recommend this book, Thank You to Net Galley, Mary Kubica and Harlequin for allowing me to read this advanced copy for an honest review.

This book surprised me, in a good way. It felt a bit slow, choppy and disjointed in the beginning. But it all came together and started to pick up towards the middle and I soon found myself racing to get to the end because I had to know what happened. Unique plot and shocking conclusion that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Hmmm...after all is said and done, I’m struggling with my final opinion on this one. It has very distinct parts. The first part of the book...yikes! It really sucks you in while at the same time it’s SO hard to read. I kept thinking about the fact that these types of things have happened and how must those abducted children have felt? Ugh, really hard to read.

Then the book gets so suspenseful. Kept me guessing. Who is it? What happened? The different POV made it even more intriguing.

Then comes the last quarter of the book. WHAT?! I did not see it coming! Some of it is pretty hard to swallow, though. Just seemed totally out of character for the characters involved. Too far fetched. And then.....the reveal! Oh man, totally threw me for a loop. I did like that part.

The last few pages are so rushed. Did the author run out of time? It’s like a couple pages to wrap up the whole thing. Weird.

So it gets a 4 from me solely because it kept me reading into the night. I wanted to find out what happened.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

I was thoroughly enjoying Local Woman Missing when I had first started reading; the “captivity/survival” aspect was intensely gripping in the first few pages, but then afterwards, the “suspense” spark quickly died down as the mystery began.

I really wanted - and tried - to enjoy this book but I was never amazed by any of the events that occurred throughout the story; there were hardly any twists or new revelations; just a couple of new suspects that were continuously being introduced as a way of letting the plot move forward.

The ending? Don’t expect to be amazed. It was a neat, solid ending, but nothing unique or creative. Local Woman Missing isn’t a bad book. Not at all. It’s just your average mystery about a missing girl/woman. However, these are only my personal opinions; this book might appeal to others more than it did me. Hopefully, it will.

Delilah Dickey doesn't know how long she's been kept in this dark basement or even exactly where she may be. All she knows is she must survive. Mary Kubica crafts an enchanting novel about three mysterious disappearances and the loved ones left behind to search for answers. Could all three be connected or is just coincidence? Be sure to free up your evening before you begin this quest to uncover the truth because you won't be able to put the book down until you finish.

This is my first thriller by Mary Kubica and it did not disappoint! Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced reader copy! As always, I really appreciate the opportunity. Within the first few pages, Shelby Tebrow goes missing. As an investigation takes place, both Meredith Dickey and her daughter Delilah go missing too! A lot of twists and turns. The book takes place in a small town and follows a bunch of different neighbors, families and other people in the community. Local Woman Missing jumps around a little bit between the past and the present as well as various character's perspectives. It definitely keeps things interesting and as a reader, it helped me piece together clues and storylines. Overall, I really enjoyed it and I highly recommend it to anyone who is a fan of psychological thrillers!

Wow, Mary Kubica has really DELIVERED with Local Girl Missing!!!! This extremely fast paced novel had me on the edge of my seat the entire way through. The storyline time hops between present day and 11 years ago throughout which adds so much mystery and suspense to this book! Mary Kubica is a master at dropping clues some that nonchalantly and some that hit you right in the face, but they are all so darn well placed!!! You need to be on your toes to try and put together your own conspiracy theory and mine was completely wrong lol—love that! I’ve read all of Mary Kubica’s books and Local Woman Missing is my favorite from her to date! I highly recommend this 5 star novel to absolutely everyone!!
