REVIEW OF THE AUDIOBOOK:

This audiobook was a ten out of ten - amazing production.
I felt fully immersed, I loved both the general story and the podcast sections. I had so many theories while listening and it just totally hooked me.

I didn't guess the big reveal (or at least the one I think was intended to shock the most) and my main theory for how the book would go was wrong and I love that. Maybe it is predictable and for whatever reason I just didn't clock it but either way - I thoroughly enjoyed my time with this!

I love that this had multiple narrators - and especially for the podcast which also had other sound effects. It really added to it!

I can't say how the pacing would be for the physical book but I imagine it's one I'd have been equally as gripped by and I will definitely be picking up more books by this author

This was a really good thriller. I could definitely see it being a series - I liked the characters and would definitely read another book by Amy Suiter Clarke.

Elle quit her job as a social worker to become a podcast moderator. Instead of seeing children after they had been abused, Elle now tries to solve those cold cases where a child was murdered.....and she's been amazing successful. Utilizing the skills she developed working with families at their worst, she has been able to investigate and evaluate clues and evidence to earn the respect of law enforcement personnel. Now she's decided to focus on The Countdown Killer's series of torture and murder.
With this backstory, Elle will present the case on her podcast. But Elle and the police have made some assumptions about this killer that will cause the killings to start again. The podcast interactions provide an interesting twist to the investigation. Amy Suiter Clarke is a new author to me, but she has done an excellent job of capturing the tension that builds during the chase.

Elle worked as a social worker and helped young girls who were victims of violent crime but now she is the host of a podcast about children that have been missing for some time or have been abducted. She has honed in to her skills to the point that she now wants to try to solve the one case that has eluded many including the police. The countdown killer, as they are known, wrecked havoc by kidnapping young girls, each a year younger than the last, and killing them in such a way that most think is ritualistic. But by the time the TCK took an eleven year old, the murders stopped. A call to her podcast gives her tip but then the caller is found dead and a ten year old child is abducted. Can Elle figure out who the TCK is before more children start to disappear? I truly enjoyed this novel and felt that using a podcast was a great addition to the story. The characters, say for Elle, were all likable and well developed. I just could not really attach to Elle in the sense that it seemed as though her motives were wrong.
I definitely say this is a 4 1/2 stars out of 5

Thank you to NetGalley as well as the author/publisher for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

I can’t believe it took me so long to read Girl 11. It’s been on my shelf for a while, but, now that Amy Suiter Clarke’s sophomore novel is coming out soon, I decided that now was the time to pick it up, and I’m so glad that I did. This book is so well crafted and written. It reads like true crime, and it’s even interspersed with podcast transcripts that make it feel even more chillingly real. Girl 11 is a must for thriller lovers!

I really enjoyed this one. It was quick paced and there was always something going on. I liked Elle and enjoyed following her. I enjoyed the podcast chapters, I found them very interesting. This book kept my attention and the ending was good and intense. I really like that we got some background on the killer himself. I enjoyed his chapters.

Elle Castillo once trained as a social worker, supporting young victims of violent crime. Now she hosts a popular true crime podcast that focuses on cold cases of missing and abducted children.

After four seasons of successfully solving these cases in Minnesota’s Twin Cities, Elle decides to tackle her white whale: The Countdown Killer. Twenty years ago, TCK was terrorizing the community, kidnapping and ritualistically murdering three girls over seven days, each a year younger than the last. Then, after he took his eleven-year-old victim, the pattern—and the murders—abruptly stopped. No one has ever known why.

When Elle follows up on a listener tip only to discover the man’s dead body, she feels at fault. Then, within days, a child is abducted—a young girl who seems to fit suspiciously into the TCK sequence halted decades before. While media and law enforcement long ago concluded that TCK had suicided, Elle has never believed TCK was dead. She had hoped her investigation would lay that suspicion to rest, but her podcast seems instead to be inciting new victims.

Elle hosts a popular true crime podcast that focuses on cold cases of missing and abducted children. She decides to try to solve The Countdown Killer who was kidnapping young girls 20 years ago. He was thought to be dead but once she starts looking in to the crimes girls start showing up dead again. Having a daughter this book was hard to read. It was very well written.

I enjoyed this book, maybe not the main character as much, but that’s OK. I’m loving the pod cast vibes!

Elle is a true crime podcast host, who specializes in cold cases of missing girls & the Countdown killer.
When she’s about to meet up with a listener, she discovers his dead body instead.
Next is a bumpy ride following Elle and a potential return of TCK or a copycat.

I received an advanced copy of this ebook from the publisher for an honest review. This book is well written and the characters are described well. This is a fast paced thriller with a lot of twists and turns. You never suspected it was that character. I absolutely enjoyed this authors writing style and this book. I would definitely highly recommend it to anyone and everyone. This book is in stores for $25.00 (USD).

I loved the choices the author made about the structure for this novel, interspersing transcripts from the narrator's true crime podcast "Delayed Justice" alongside the narration of events that are occurring in real time. I found this to be a really solid thriller/ mystery as well. The "big reveal" and the ending were sort of 'meh" for me, but I'm not really sure what I wanted, so that may be a little unfair. It is true you will not want to put this down....always a good sign for a mystery. Thank you NetGalley and publishers for providing a digital ARC for review.

I am on the fence about this book. There were some things I loved, and some things I just...didn't.
Loved:
- the thriller aspect - suspenseful, lot of action, good if you like serial killer stuff
- the podcast parts - I like podcasts, but I like books more, so combining the two was *chef's kiss*

Didn't love:
- Elle. I think it's great that she's trying to figure things out for the families, yet I get a very "it's all about me" vibe from her that made it hard to warm up to her
- The last quarter of the book. Wtf happened to the dialogue? It got...I don't know. Awkward?

However, for a debut novel, it's extremely well done, and I loved the beautiful cover.

I loved this book! If you love true crime podcasts in crime novels, and/or if you love books about serial killers, add GIRL, 11 to your tbr.

I really enjoyed this book. I read the physical book and when I couldn't do that, I switched to audiobook and when I was listening to the book, at times I forgot it was a book and I really thought I was listening to a podcast thinking it was real, which gave me the chills.

I loved the fast pace of the book and it kept my interest the entire time. Very well written, too. You can tell Amy really did her research writing this book. I cannot wait to see what else she publishes next!

What a fantastic ride this story was! A Social work helping out young children who have been the victims of violent crimes, becomes once again, embroiled in the The Countdown Killer's web. After believing he/she had passed away, only to become well, you should just read the story yourself!

Fast paced, page turner. I think I found my next must read author!

I struggle with podcast ways of writing. Or even interview styles of writing. So this one was intriguing but was still just okay. But i really love the cover

I really liked the podcast format of this one. The case was interesting and I enjoyed putting on my amateur detective hat to work it out alongside Elle.

I can't say enough about this book. Although I personally know the author through my son, I would still rate it right up there with the best. I don't normally enjoy stories about podcasts, as the dialogue is sometimes too forced. However, in this one, it flows naturally. I loved Girl, 11, and can't recommend it enough!

I think the premise for this book was amazing and was super excited to read it. However it ultimately was a bit too convoluted for me and it made me have to suspend my beliefs for a big chunk of it to make sense.

Overall great start but the finish could have been improved.

Girl, 11 is an entertaining and gripping thriller which will be a hit for all true crime podcast fanatics. Within the pages we follow Elle Castillo on her true crime podcast, Justice Delayed, in which she concentrates on the infamous serial killer TCK who still remains at large.

The format is set up with a mix of recordings from the podcast, monologues from Elle and flashbacks from TCK's childhood. The alternating POV's and timelines really worked to keep me interested and I wanted to begin a deep dive googling this imaginary killer.

At times I did find myself rolling my eyes at the characterisation of one or two of the characters, some moments were a little far-fetched and at times Elle can be a frustrating person to support but overall I was invested to find out the truth.

I switched between both the book and the audiobook and really found the audiobook brought the true crime podcast aspect to life.

Dark and thrilling, sure to to be of interest to true crime podcast fans.

3.5/5

Thank you Net Galley for a copy of Girl, 11 by Amy Suiter Clarke. I'm late in reviewing this, pity on both sides, because I really enjoyed this one. Ella has a true crime podcast that covers children gone missing and centers around The Clockwork Killer.
