Halfway through this book, I was afraid my rating was going to be 2 stars. The book was just not for me, the way it was written just didn't grip me at all. But then I came to the ending, and I must say I really enjoyed that! So that's why I ended up giving it 3 stars.

This book was really pretty, but as with most books told in verse, sometimes the prose is pretty just for the sake of being pretty. This was strong for a debut, but not something I'm going to be screaming from the rooftops.

I love reading about Moth and Sani! Grief is such a powerful emotion and to lose your family like that is really traumatizing. Mouth manages to find a friend in Sani and together they take a road trip that has them chasing ghosts and searching for ancestors.

Me (Moth) is incredibly lyric, necessary read. I cannot wait to reread it, as there is just so much to traverse.

This title is being considered as a possible 2024 Evergreen Teen Book Award nominee. The premise is fascinating and the characters are compelling. Also excellent as an audiobook.

The writing is beautiful and surreal. You'll fall in love with the characters and their story will break your heart.

I really enjoyed reading Me (Moth) and will recommend it to my adolescent readers especially those struggling with mental health difficulties and grief.

ME (MOTH) is a brilliant & beautiful novel-in-verse that explores grief, friendship, and coming of age. the protagonist, moth, has lost both her parents in a car accident & is struggling to cope as the only survivor. sani is a boy with struggles of his own, searching for for an understanding of himself & his life. when the two cross paths the resulting connection the two develop makes for a breathtaking read. the form of the novel being in verse made for a unique narrative that perfectly fit the story & the protagonists voice. this story broke my heart & put it back together again.

A novel in verse that really focuses on character development. I read in one sitting because I was pulled in from the first few lines.

I know that this is me personally but I had a hard time not comparing this to an Elizabeth Acevedo book and I know that is not fair.

Let me start by saying I loved this story. I thought it was pure and raw and just beautiful. The story of Sani and Moth and the importance of each other. It was just a beautifully painful story. But that was really this all had to offer.

I think this would have been better if it wasn't trying to be so poetic. The story itself was strong on its own and I think trying to write it lyrically is what didn't work for me. I really wish this would have been written as a full novel instead of in verse. While I really enjoyed Sani and Moth, they didn't feel natural written this way. I think their stories would have been more impactful if we had more time with them and actually witnessed their story. There's something lost with the writing trying to be profound.

I can say I didn't see the ending coming but it did bring everything together and made sense for some of the story itself. I guess it felt unnatural because of they talked to each other, more so Moth. If this book was written as full, the dialogue would have flowed and not forced.

Overall, this is a great quick read. While I did enjoy the story and what it offered, I just didn't like the way it was presented. I can appreciate the thought and time that went into creating it but it didn't feel as impactful. Instead it felt like it was trying too hard which helped miss the main plot. I really wish this book wasn't written in verse and instead told the full story of Moth and Sani.

Books in verse are hard for me most of the time but this one just blew me away. I loved the poetry, the story, and the twist that I truly wasn't expecting.

This was such an incredible book. I am always a big fan of novels in verse when it comes to telling coming of age stories and this was no different. One of my favorite aspects of this story was the compare and contrast between Hoodoo and Navajo traditions. The author also does a really great note on this. The ending completely took me by surprise. Can't wait for more books from this author.

This novel in verse is haunting and lyrical. In fact, I could not get it out of my mind. The protagonist and premise is both interesting and thought provoking. I highly recommend.

First, go into this book blind. Even the tagline gives it away, which takes away from the book.

I love novels in verse, but this one seemed too prose-like for me. It went from trying to simplify things for the reader (identifying the speaker whenever possible) to talking in theory and circles.

Moth and Sani meet and it seems like insta-like for no real reason. She is a survivor from a horrific car accident that she hasn't gotten over.

Sani has a rough household and is dealing with some mental issues (he keeps taking pills to help). He is a musician and is working on a song about summer.

The pair take an odd road trip which isn't explained and then the book gives you a twist. Go in blind and you'll be surprised and you'll enjoy this book a lot more!

I literally felt/am still feeling this book in my heart and bones and soul. The writing is pure movement and magic. I actually have zero words for this book right now and don’t know if I will ever be able to describe what I just felt while reading this novel in verse that we do not deserve!!

There are some books you want to hug close to your chest, almost like you want it to fully live in your heart. This book is one of them. Me (Moth) is heartbreaking and fascinating. I've read it twice now.
