A well laid-out cookbook with a wide variety of different cuisines. I appreciated the lovely photos and how each category was outlined. While I haven't yet tried any of the recipes, there are several from this cookbook that are on my list to try out!

In Antoni Porowski’s, of Queer Eye fame, newest cookbook, Let’s Do Dinner, Antoni explores recipes that are aimed at being both simple and healthy alternatives. When first starting this cookbook, the sheer amount of pictures of Antoni hit me as almost comical. At the risk of hyperbole, I would say that there are almost as many recipes in this cookbook as there are pictures of Antoni. The recipes are fine as a whole, but much more for a younger, more metropolitan audience. I wouldn’t say that this cookbook is family-friendly by any means unless your child has a more adventurous palette. I think this book would be a great holiday gift for the millennial in your life that is a fan of cooking and of Netflix binges. Rating - 3/5

This book has the best recipes and I’m so grateful I received a copy!

Even those who don’t watch Queer Eye will enjoy this one.

I recommend the rigatoni alla vodka!

Thanks to NetGalley and Mariner Books for this free digital copy in exchange for an honest review. This cookbook is available now!

Q: Have you watched Queer Eye?

I'm a huge fan of Queer Eye and when I saw that Antoni's newest cookbook was available on NetGalley, I requested it immediately!

I'm not a fan of cooking. The best statement to start a cookbook review with, right? I want to love to cook, but often I'm cooking for one, exhausted, and apathetic towards the whole venture. When I do pull out a cookbook, I look for a few things:

-how long recipes take
-complexity
-easy availability of ingredients
-interest in recipes 😂

Let's Do Dinner fits all of these requirements. Most of the recipes are relatively simple to follow and seem delicious. Antoni offers substitutions in his notes in the event that an ingredient can't be found, which I found super helpful. It is laid out in a clear manner and the photos are stunning. There are several recipes that I wouldn't try, but that isn't the fault of the author--I'm not a fan of most seafood and don't really eat pork. I tried the sheet pan chicken with rosemary and grapes recipe, and it was so YUMMY.

Am I counting a cookbook at part of my books read this year? You bet! I read Antoni: Let’s Do Dinner from cover to cover, enjoying every part of this book!

Antoni Porowski and Mindy Fox create a cookbook that has recipes for everyone. The directions were simple to follow, and most of the ingredients very accessible. Were there some recipes that I’d have to do some substituting if I wasn’t a fan of certain ingredients? Sure, but that is part of a great cookbook: flexible enough tp be used as a base to explore in the kitchen. All the recipes I made were tasty (seriously: the chilli was SO GOOD and made enough to be frozen for a future meal!) and came together as part of weeknight meals (with some planning), but would be great for impressing someone with some fancier takes too! The final hallmark of a great cookbook is photos; while there were many photos featuring Antoni and his friends, there were also photos of every recipe. I like this for being inspired and for an easy way to skim through to pick out a recipe I want to make!

I loved Antoni In The Kitchen (and have some go-to recipes from it too). I think Antoni: Let’s Do Dinner makes for a great companion to add to my kitchen counter too. Thanks to Mariner Books and Netgalley for the Advanced Reader Copy!

The recipes, photos, layout, and organization of content... everything about this book is wow.

Antoni: Let's Do Dinner kicks off with his thought process when planning out dinners for the week, and it's so RELATABLE. He quickly goes through the ebb and flow of what we're "feeling" for dinner as the week progresses and uses this as an opportunity to suggest a few recipe highlights to fulfill those cravings.

A fun, feel-good quote follows each section cover. Antoni also gives a small introduction for each recipe to give insight behind the meal's inspiration and valuable suggestions, such as pairing, substitutions, or storing leftovers.

The section names are fun and inviting while still cluing into what to expect and taking the guessing out, like "Break an Egg" and "We Meat Again." Did I also mention this cookbook has something for everyone?! Salad lover? There's a section for that. Plant-based? Tons of recipes for that, not to mention a full Veggie Night section. Meat fiend? TWO sections for that based on if you want red meat or poultry.

If you're low on time, a 10 Fast Favorites section is also included. I tried the Broiled Fish & Asparagus with Choose-Your-Flavor Butter Sauce, and let me tell you - if this recipe is a testament to everything else in this section, it stays true. I started dinner, and my fiancé had whiplash when I told him it was ready.

I also tried the Smoky Beans & Sausage Ragout. Though it wasn't part of the Fast Favorites, it only took me 25 minutes, and boy... did I not anticipate the huge batch this would make! It honestly tasted better over the new few days because the flavors continued melding together.

My only complaint is the lack of nutrition facts and time estimated to complete each meal, though I'm sure that's what the Fast Favorites portion is for. Still, it wasn't enough to knock a star based on the positive experience I had with this book.

Beautifully crafted and well thought out, this book is worth displaying on your cookbook stand!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a chance to read and review, "Antoni: Let's Do Dinner" by Antoni Porowski. The cookbook is good overall. There was not a ton of things I had tried before. I am looking forward to making the pork cutlet bowl.. I wish there was more pictures throughout the book. This cookbook would be great for people looking to make recipes that are different.

Antoni: Let’s Do Dinner by Antoni Porowski is a gorgeous cookbook that will satisfy fans of the Queer Eye star and those looking for meal inspiration. While the book is marketed as a weeknight dinner collection of recipes, many of these are a bit more involved and require specialty ingredients. If you enjoy a beautiful recipe book with some interesting takes on old classics, this is a book to check out.

If you are familiar with Antoni’s first cookbook, Antoni in the Kitchen, this is quite similar to that one. It has an eclectic and diverse collection of recipes with lots of gorgeous images of food (and Antoni,) and little personal stories that accompany the recipes. Also, the recipes have varying degrees of difficulty with some of them definitely requiring a little bit more skill than others, so might not be suitable as a weeknight dish. There is a collection at the beginning of the book that Antoni calls “fast favourites,” however, so if quick meals are of interest to you, there are a few in the book.

❀ INTERESTING RECIPES

For those that are willing to spend a little bit more money and time on a meal, these are very interesting recipes. They are ones that are well known, but there is a signature Antoni ingredient in all of them that really adds excitement to the recipe. The instructions are straightforward and the layout of the book is easy to use. The beginning of the book has a list of essential ingredients that is useful and will make creating the recipes a lot easier.

❀ CONTENTS: ANTONI: LET’S DO DINNER

Break an Egg

I have bookmarked quite a few of the recipes and really love the salad and eggs for dinner recipes the most. The Spinach Salad with Crispy Chicken, Mushrooms, & Fried Eggs looks amazing, as does the Masala Spinach Omelette. This is a perfect cookbook for a collector and anyone who is a fan of Antoni.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4/5

Antoni Porowski's new cookbook, Antoni: Let's Do Dinner, is an approachable cookbook to make simple, yet impressive and flavorful meals. The recipes feature Antoni's cooking style of utilizing fresh ingredients, pantry staples, minimal steps, while maximizing flavor.

The book is laid out into 10 chapters:
1) Salad, But Make It Dinner, 2) Veggie Nights, 3) Break an Egg, 4) Sandwiches + Their Cousins, 5) Carb Comas, 6) Swim Team, 7) Winner, Winner, Chicken (+ Turkey) Dinner, 8) We Meat Again, 9) Cold + Rainy Days, 10) Snacks + Sides. There is also a section at the beginning that talks through how Antoni sets up his pantry and what he keeps stocked. I found this section particularly interesting and helpful! Who knew you could freeze nuts?!

The book itself is gorgeous and the photography was outstanding. All of the food photos looked so delicious and I wanted to try so many recipes in this book! The names, descriptions, and photos really draw you in to each recipe. In particular, I am most excited to try the Salmon and Spinach Rice Bowl with Green Tea Broth and the Sicilian Tuna Salad with Oranges and Beets. Also, I loved all of author's references to his Polish background! I found it very endearing and authentic.

In terms of recipe adaptability, I do feel the book fell a little short. The author does claim recipes are adaptable in the introduction, but you do not see any information about how to adapt specific recipes. Additionally, there are no markers for specific dietary restrictions like gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, etc. There are a wide variety of recipes in the book, so I do believe most will be able to find something good.

Overall, I'm excited to try more recipes from this book! I will update my review after trying a few of the recipes.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher, Mariner Books, for the advance review copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The recipes are good but not necessarily accessible, like Antoni's brand has come to be known for on Queer Eye. I also think more photos of the dishes could have gone a long way

This was a nicely put together cookbook, however it is definitely for the more adventurous cook. There is nothing meat + potatoes here. If you are looking to elevate your home cooking to the next level this will be great.

The photography was very odd. Lots of high-flash photos with harsh shadows. The photos did not seem professionally shot.

I read and enjoyed Antoni's first cookbook and was excited to see that he was coming out with another one.

I really like how his cookbooks are laid out, the fonts, the designs, and how the pictures seem to just pop off the page, but the recipes are great as well. I find that the actual recipes are easy to follow and the ingredients are not weird and hard to find which makes it great to pick up for any meal. I especially loved the leek recipe on a night that I was looking for something to do with all the leeks I pulled out of my garden.

I am excited to cook even more things out of this cookbook.

I really had a hard time completing this book. I found it extremely dull and boring. I will not be adopting it within my classroom.

I’ve got a soft spot for cookbooks. Some are useful, and some are less practical, but fun to read anyway. Fans of Antoni’s television programs can hardly go wrong with Let’s Do Dinner, but his work is new to me. My thanks go to Net Galley and Mariner Books for the review copy. This book is for sale now.

The promotional blurb for this cookbook tells us that some of these recipes will be decadent, whereas others are designed for weekday dining. Apart from a couple of nice egg dishes (omelet, scramble,) I don’t see anything here that I would make. Some involve great loads of dishes, and others involve unusual flavor combinations, and I am a coward. That being said, I am plainly not his target audience. I suspect that his cooking tips are geared toward the young and childless; I, on the other hand, am a Grammy. For me, this cookbook is more of a three star read—the sort of thing I’d browse through, but wouldn’t spend money on. However, for twenty-and-thirty-somethings, I suspect the appeal will be greater, perhaps a four star read, and for his loyal fans, five stars.

I recommend this cookbook to Antoni’s fans, and to the young and adventurous cook that wants to try new things.

Another winning cookbook from Antoni! I made several of these recipes with my sister (who owns his last cookbook) and we were so impressed with all the recipes we tried. The book is filled with lots of easy to make options that have easy modifications where you might need for dietary restrictions. I highly recommend this one, for yourself or a gift!!

I’ll be honest I didn’t know who Antoni before this book. I didn’t go in expecting anything but wow this book delivers! Antoni takes recipes we know and flips the switch on them. Yes the classics are classics for a reason but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a little fun with them. And Antoni does just that.

Most recipes are very quick and easy to follow. Antoni shows beautiful, tasty food doesn’t have to be super complicated. The pictures are gorgeous all throughout the book. While I still don’t really know Antoni, I do know he knows what he is talking about in the kitchen. And for this mom that loves to cook, that’s enough for me.

I am a big fan of Queer Eye, but I am always hesitant when a tv personality creates a cookbook. I LOVED this cookbook. There was a picture for every item that was prepared. There were of course pictures with his castmates which emphasized their friendship. There were were unexpected famous faces as well.

The recipes were not over the top and the plating was simple and pretty to see. I also loved that the vast majority of the ingredients were items that I already have in my cupboard and fridge. I can't wait to share this book and recipes with others.
