Let's Do Dinner is a beautiful, well-crafted cookbook. Food photography is one of life's joys and there is something devastating about recipe books that deprive you of seeing what you could be having. This is not that book. This is a feast for the eyes. There are heaps of stunning photographs of Antoni, the food and his friends which creates this lovely home-y quality (as down to earth as possible when one of said friends is Gigi Hadid) and really does entice you to try something different. Servings are generous and not particularly manicured so they all look attainable for a home cook.

It opens with advice on what to stock your pantry with and where you should keep them which is a great idea. I love that it has an overview of these 'most used' ingredients because it gives you a great general overview and tells you where things are best kept.

The little descriptions above each recipe often have little tips, swaps or notes on what to expect but they're kept short and concise. His hand writing (used for headings and a few other accents) is at times a little hard to read but it isn't anything too serious.

I felt very special getting to try some of these recipes early. I really enjoyed the lemon spaghetti with toasted walnuts and parsley (I made it with cashews because I had them on hand). It was bright and zesty and surprisingly filling. I liked perusing the book seeing recipes for things I'd never thought of or interesting fusions. It's inspiring and pretty different.

I will note there are no time estimates on the recipes. Perhaps that is intentional to experience more of the joy of cooking instead of the stress of keeping it quick but regardless you'll definitely need to read through and make your own estimates which might make some things feel a bit less possible on a weeknight.

This book would be a great gift (even for people that aren't a fan of Netflix' Queer Eye). It isn't intimidating. Antoni has a passion for food that is evident in just the little passages of text throughout. These are meals that aren't designed to be perfect, they're designed to be enjoyed and shared with loved ones. It’s a lovely approach and I can't wait to be able to have people over again to try a few more of them out.

A big thank you to Mariner Books for providing me with this copy via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely love the recipes in this book! They are all simple, full of flavor, and a healthier take on some of my favorite comfort foods. The recipes are straightforward and easy to follow and the pictures included will make you run to get these meals cooked as soon as possible. Some of my favorites and must-try recipes include: Farfalle with almond, pesto, and zucchini, Yakitorichi chicken, pancakes with apples and bacon, and crispy curry tofu with arugula salad. There's something in this cookbook for everyone!

Antoni's second cookbook, this one has a range of vegan dishes and meat option to satisfy most eaters. Porowski shares his secrets to quick meals. If you're a regular chef, there won't be many secrets, but for lay-people, Antoni might inspire you to eat healthier and shorten your cooking time while doing it too.

I appreciated that he started out his book by sharing a quick tip to cooking - "What is my main veg?" He plans his meals based around the vegetables he has on hand, which makes sense as they tend to go bad the fastest. He also encourages eaters to think about plant based options, including delicious vegan recipes to inspire typical meat eaters to try something new.

I read this on my kindle, so I can't quite tell the size of the photos in this book, but it seems like he had beautiful full page spreads in color for readers to enjoy. I know sometimes it's the picture that captures my attention when I'm flipping through my cookbooks at home, so this is definitely an important element.

Finally, he keeps his descriptions relatively short and sweet. Not a lot of rambling about why he chose this recipe, etc. He does encourage you to use the resources you already have access to by talking to people who may know tips on cooking, which is such a sweet way to build community.

I was so excited to try this cook book! The photos are stunning and the recipes were slightly out of my comfort zone giving me a great deal of things to learn and try. I tried the Brown Butter Fettuchini with sweet potatoes, fried sage and hazelnuts. It was totally out of my comfort zone cooking and food wise and i loved it! It turned out great. The other recipe I tried was the Pene Ala Vodka with Chicken. It was also delicious. I wish they would have given us a substitute for the whole fat yogurt. I couldn't find whole fat yogurt at 2 grocery stores so i used 2% and it just made the texture of the sauce different. It was still good, but not that rich creamy texture you are hoping for. I would definitely try it again with equal parts cream I guess. I'll definitely be coming back to this cookbook in the future!

Trying a cookbook reel. My husbands footage of the delicious Shrimp & Greens Soup was much better than mine of the Croque Signore. But both of our selections from this cookbook were delicious!

We enjoyed this cookbook though only found a few recipes that we wanted to try. There were a lot of varieties to choose from in different cultures. Most of the options looked healthy as per his style on QE.

The format was hard to peruse on the tablet so might have to see what the physical one looks like.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐💫

I requested this book on NetGalley for two reasons. Firstly, for the chance to review a cookbook for the first time. And most importantly I wanted to support Antoni, whom I love. I was late to the Queer Eye phenomenon but during the pandemic, it provided so much comfort. It is such a heartwarming show and I love Antoni’s presence on it. I am also biased because I love supporting a fellow Canadian.

Check out my more detailed thoughts below…
Aesthetics: This book knocks this section out of the park. It is a beautiful cookbook. The food styling is just so so great. Every picture looks super duper delicious. I really love the over aesthetic of the cookbook too. The colours, the typefaces are such a good choice. The book had a very soothing colour palette and font selections that really fit the vibe of laidback weeknight dinners. I do think you have to be a fan of Antoni though because there are a lot of pictures of him in it, naturally.
Story: Similar to the pictures of him, you do really need to be invested in Antoni’s story to enjoy the stories in this cookbook. In all the sections where he talks about his life or where a recipe came from, his voice is incredibly present. These parts really read like Antoni wrote them. I loved the personal touches throughout the book such as when he named a pasta dish after his friend. Or how he included recipes that referenced both his family’s Polish roots and his upbringing in Quebec. I even showed my Montreal-raised boyfriend Antoni’s Montreal-style baked beans recipe and he gave it a Quebecois stamp of approval.
Recipes: I do have to admit here I did not make a single recipe in the cookbook. This book was marketed as straightforward weeknight meals. I found any time I looked in it for a recipe there were integral ingredients I just did not have. I did appreciate that Antoni included his pantry staples at the beginning of the cookbook. That is not something I always see included and it could be super handy. Another thing that held me back from making the recipes is that even once I had read the methods over and over again I was still confused. Especially some sections pictures of the harder steps in a method would have helped. The team could have definitely added these in while retaining the aesthetics of the colours and the food styling.

Every review is going to mention how handsome Antoni is. This review is no different. Antoni is so insanely handsome. Antoni is also an insanely talented storyteller and person and that come through in this cookbook.

Cookbooks are weird. Do you read this like regular books? Do you flip through them like a magazine? I tend to skim. Flip[ing through pages, stopping and looking at photos more than the words. This book however, I read cover to cover. Antoni has a way to telling a story with food.

I want a seat at his table.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I've enjoyed watching Antoni on Queer Eye and how he teaches the folk they're helping to do one dish well. This book, to me, feels in a similar vein. but instead of only one dish, you've got access to many (and no TV cameras that can capture any flops!)

I found the recipes to be well written and well explained too. The photographs are beautiful too and for most of the dishes you get an idea of what the end product should look like. there are definitely some I'm going to try out.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me the chance to read this book.

Ultimately, I was disappointed. Antoni is so wonderful to watch speak about food and his passion is so clear, I had high hopes. First off, the font used for every recipe title was almost unreadable. I had to stare at each letter to figure out what it said! The recipes are also not your everyday weeknight meals. They might be fun to try when you're looking for a challenge or a change. They have far too many ingredients to be convenient. Honestly, I'm also not sure I'd eat a lot of these combos if someone put them in front of me. They weren't nearly as appetizing as expected. This book has a surprising number of photos of Antoni -- take that as you will.

2.5 stars.

Antoni's recipes on Queer Eye always look amazing so I was over the moon when I found out i could review this book. The book has a great array of recipes which are easy to follow, beginners and more experienced cooks can find something they'll enjoy making.

I saw other reviewers mention the amount of pictures of Antoni and other people in the book and I have to agree on that. The occasional picture of people enjoying the food is nice but it was a bit overdone. Also some ingredients are a bit harder to source when you don't live in a big city. But if you don't mind that this is a great book which you will use many times.

This book has an interesting mix of recipes with some complicated and others fairly simple. I'm not sure I would make most of these more than on an occasional basis, despite having a similarly stocked pantry. That being said, there were a few recipes, like the lemon walnut pasta and the chickpea, quinoa, and white bean chili that are good additions to my family's regular repertoire.

There a lot of good ideas. The ones that I have tried are pretty good so far and I am looking forward to trying them all one by one.

This cookbook has something for everyone. Antoni is so diverse with the ingredients and recipes he highlights. The food photography is amazing. You will want to rush to your local grocery store, buy all the ingredients, and make each dish from cover to cover of this book. I will certainly be adding a print copy to my cookbook collection. Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the eARC in exchange for my honest review. Time to get in the kitchen and cook!

I adore this cookbook - the perfect mix of personal stories, anecdotes and recipes that are tasty and slightly more elevated from my usual dinners. The recipes are fresh, balanced and and have a young, contemporary vibe. Just the inspiration I need!!! Perfect for entertaining and I love Antoni’s passion for food and his approachability in the kitchen. This is a perfect companion for entertaining inspiration and the images of each dish are beautifully shot and appetising. Thank you Antoni - can’t wait to work my way and cook through the whole book!

An easy to follow cookbook with delicious recipes! Antoni's cookbook is one I would recommend to anyone looking for easy but delicious meal ideas that they could put together in a pinch. While going through some recipes, I did have to make some substitutions for ingredients that I did not have on hand and/or forgot to pick up at the store. However, even when substituting ingredients, the dishes still turned out as expected!

This book made me hungry. Antoni has a way of describing dishes that make me want to eat them right now. This book made me want to get in the kitchen and cook some dishes. There is a wide variety of recipes in this book from meatless dishes to give me all of it to sides and snacks. I can't wait to try the Chicken Paillards with Caper Butter Sauce, Slow-Cooker Pork Carnitas, Cheese Fondue, oh my gosh the list goes on. YUM! While Antoni has some easier recipes included in this book, there are some more labor-intensive. I don't see anything that should scare anyone though. There's even a pantry section to make sure you're ready to jump in. So go ahead and do it. I'm about to!!!

Lots of great twists on common recipes and unique ones I’m excited to try. I appreciate how many vegetarian options he included. I do wish he would have written a little bit more and made it a little more personal.

I love Antoni! His recipes on Queer Eye always sound so good and I'm always taking tips from him from the show! So, I was pleasantly surprised to see that he created a cookbook. My family tried a few recipes and will definitely be trying more. This cookbook was beautiful and so organized. It was easy to navigate and I loved the pictures.

I absolutely adores 'Antoni: Let's Do Dinner'! With a wide variety of recipes, many vegetarian/vegan, and absolutely stunning photos, this is a super accessible cookbook. I was initially a little intimidated but decided to try out one of the recipes for myself. I decided to go for the Chickpea and Cauliflower Curry and it was actually very straightforward. Although it required a number of ingredients none of them were difficult to get. The instructions were also super clear which means that within minutes of starting I felt more confident. My curry also quickly became the envy of my housemates.

Whether you're a Queer Eye fan or just looking for great recipes with easy-to-follow instructions. 'Let's Do Dinner' is for you!
