If you've ever wanted to know how best to deal with the online universe, you might want to invest in a new book that provides guidance on how to engage effectively on social media.

#Rules_of_Engagement: 8 Christian Habits for Being Good and Doing Good Online is a wonderful resource for the times in which we live. If you've ever gotten into an argument online, this is the book for you. Author Ann M. Garrido offers expertise on everything from Internet etiquette to combating Internet addiction.

And she has plenty of solid research available to back up her contentions. If you have ever sought out the Sacrament of Reconciliation for a transgression committed online, you will want to have this book readily available. Garrido coaches readers on how to conduct themselves as authentic Christians when they are on their iPhones, tablets, on laptops.

Reading this guidebook made me re-examine my online behavior and, I hope, will make me better equipped at spreading God's love online.

Have you ever kept arguing with people on social media, or used it too much? I have done both. I kept 'engaging' with a group of people who kept arguing with me, at one stage. Eventually, I stopped, and told them that I had had enough of it, but some of them still kept on! Ann M. Garrido will help you stop making these kinds of mistakes on SM and think more carefully about why and how you use it.

First, she wants you to write a Mission Statement which would help you clarify your purpose in using your social media. It is also important to prioritise face-to-face meetings, although that can be hard these days. She gives other useful tips as well, making this an excellent book if you want to use social media in a better way.

I received this free ebook from NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Great tips on how to conduct oneself on social media applicable to anyone, not just Christians. I’m not an active or daily social media user, yet I highlighted several passages as a reminder to myself. There is even a section where readers are encouraged to create their own personal social media purpose statement! How cool of an idea is that? This book provides you with the knowledge and tools to govern yourself accordingly on social media. It will also make you give serious thought to your online behavior and most of all your purpose for engaging on social media.
