I was first introduced to Buteau through her podcast, Adulting. It has given me many laughs and relatable moments, and I need it to come back like yesterday, but she’s a stand up comedian, an actress, and mother of twins, and this book is a roller coaster ride of emotions throughout the highs and lows of her life. I am 100% here for it. It felt like starting the new year catching up with an oldest friend who will have you in stitches but also tears and makes you want to constantly hug her.

Buteau’s career is def on the uptick, and you’ve probably seen her in many things over the last couple of years, and if you haven’t, look her up. She’s funny. She’s real. Annnnd she’s amazing. I am so glad I chose the audio version of this book, because it’s read by the author, and really feels like a conversation.

It came out in early December, so whether you prefer reading essay-memoirs or listening (I rec listening), you can grab this one wherever you get your books. Also, check out the first season of Adulting on your fav podcast app.

I chose this book because I loved her commentary on The Circle , she was hilarious so I was hype to get her book. In this book you will find humor and also some very heart breaking moment .
.
I cried when she detailed about her dog getting attacked , because this year on the first day of in person school , right across the street from my classroom we witness a small dog get attack in the exact same way by a much larger dog. It was quite dramatizing .
.
I didn’t love this book, I thought it was ok. There were some funny moments but there were also something that didn’t sit well with me , but that’s a personal preference . There were some parts I could relate , proud Jamaican over here , I completely get the Jamaican mom PTSD . There were some also some part that made me sad like where she made fun of an ex for not being able to read, the guys she meet that likes Goth and the “ boring friend “ with social anxiety “.
.
It was ok, but not for me.
