I got this book from Netgalley in exchange for a honest review..

I always enjoy books from Linwood Barclay and this was no exception. It pulled you in and kept you going till the end!!

A millionaire Miles Cookson has more money than anyone else and could never spend it all. But then he is diagnosed with a terminal illness, and there is a fifty percent chance that it can be passed on to the next generation. He remembers that when he was needing money he donated some sperm at a sperm bank and is wondering if any of his "children" will .get the disease he was just diagnosed with. So, he starts looking for them to let them know.

As he begins to search for the children, one of his children is also on a quest to search for her biological father. This brings them together and they start to search for the others. But as they are searching someone is mysteriously killing them one by one.. Hmmmmmm

Very good book with good writing and suspense

Find You First was my first Linwood Barclay book and I am a new fan!

Suspend all belief and dive right into this twisted thriller. You have murder, wealth, greed, hitmen, deception, DNA testing, kidnapping, a Winnebago in a house....and so much more. It's a wild ride and I enjoyed every page. Is it realistic? Not really. Is it well-written, fast-paced, plotted like a pro and totally entertaining? 100 percent.

Fans of action-packed thrillers should add this to their TBR stat. I can't wait to read more of Barclay's book (and love that he is Canadian!).

Thank you to HarperCollins Canada and Netgalley for the gifted e-copy.

3.5/5 Miles has made millions in the tech industry. He finds out he has Huntington disease so he decides to see if any of his sperm he donated when he was a starving college student produced offspring so he can see if any of them are at risk and in the hopes of providing for him. As he starts locating the individuals they are being killed off one by one. What's happening? Who's responsible? Why are so many others involved? Involving another millionaire named Jeremy things got a little weird. It was a little convoluted. Maybe one too many twists to really enjoy.

This will likely be a very unpopular opinion, but I didn't enjoy this book. I didn't find it to be very thrilling or engrossing story wise. I made it about 25% way through before DNfing. It wasn't grabbing my attention and it seemed very farfetched. I just couldn't get on board with it. I was quite disappointed that I didn't like it as this book has had so much hype surrounding it.

Thank you to William Morrow and Custom House and Netgalley for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.

Miles Cookson, dying of Huntingtons, never married but when he was a young man, he had gone to a sperm bank and now finds that he has nine grown children. He feels that he needs to find them and tell them that they might have the disease gene. He also wants to spread his wealth between them.
The first one that Miles finds is Chloe Swanson and she seems happy to meet him and says that she uncovered a half brother, Todd. They go to see him but he is nowhere to be found and it looks like he never was there.
And so starts a thrilling mystery as Miles and Chloe go to find the others but it seems that some of them are also missing.
What happened to them? Who is out to eliminate them? Who wants to keep all of these people a secret ?
A quick, exciting and suspenseful story, with enough suspects and twists along the way.
Thank you Harper Collins and NetGalley for this e-galley of "Find You First".

I enjoyed this book. This is a newer author for me and I look forward to reading more from him. This is a well written story that has characters that bring the story to life. They are connectable and made the story engaging. This is a fast paced story about a race agianst time or is there more going on than it seems. This is a great story that kept me reading until the end. The twists and turns had me sitting on the edge of my seat. As Miles search for his potential heirs, more and more come up missing. What is happening and who is the killer of these heirs? This is a great story which I highly recommend.

I’ve been a huge fan of Linwood Barclay for a long time and have quickly snapped up any new book by him. I was very excited to be able to receive this from NetGalley (thank you!).

The story begins with the millionaire Miles Cookson who learns he has a terminal illness. When he was younger and poorer, he donated to a sperm bank. Now he wants to contact those potential children to let them know of his genetic condition as it’s possible it was passed down onto them. As he’s had no children of his own, he also wants to give his fortune to his children for them to deal with the possible health condition. He also decides not to the will his fortune to his brother, which leads to other complications.

At the same time as Miles comes to terms with his condition, Chloe Swanson is beginning to search for her biological father, knowing only he was a sperm donor. Eventually the two of them meet up and things begin to escalate as the other potential heirs to the fortune begin to die suspiciously. The race is on to figure out what is happening and who is involved.

I found this book to be a bit of a departure from what I usually expect from Linwood. Nonetheless, I still enjoyed it and liked trying to figure out who was responsible for the deaths.

I've never read anything by this author in the past, but I look forward to reading more in the future!

So many twists to keep the reader flipping the pages! And I loved the short chapters, which kept the pace active. A few parts were a bit unbelievable, but it didn't take away from the overall enjoyment of this story. I loved Miles and Claire, but I also adored Charise! This is an engaging thriller with a satisfying ending and the perfect mix of good guys and villains.

Wow! Find You First by Linwood Barclay was such an incredible thriller .
This is the first book that I have read by this author, but I will definitely be looking for more of his books.

The concept of this book is quite brilliant. A rich man who becomes terminally ill and learns that any of his offspring could have a 50 percent chance of having this disease. He was a sperm donor and sets off to find his "children". to warn them.

What a roller coaster of a book. The characters are well written, complex and fleshed out.

There are multiple twists and turns. I absolutely LOVED it.

An entertaining book with some great dialogue,  some fabulously blunt and witty characters and some truly despicable ones. Although the plot was a bit far fetched and I didn't find it as good as some of his other books, it was a enjoyable read.

Thriller number 20 from Toronto writer Linwood Barclay will not disappoint his many fans. Miles Cookson, a rich tech entrepreneur, is on mission to find the 9 children he “fathered” via his donations to a sperm bank long before he became a success. He has been diagnosed with a terminal illness, and wants to alert his offspring that they may need to get tested for the same disease. But one-by-one, these children seem to be disappearing before he can find them. Together with one of his “kids”, an aspiring documentarian, he continues his quest, only to run into danger time and time again. Barclay keeps the reader guessing throughout, as the novel swings from location to location with Cookson racing against the clock to reach out and save his progeny. This is one of those Barclay works the reader will have a difficult time putting down.

Thanks to NetGalley for an advanced copy. The book opens with a slam-bang first chapter. The suspense continues throughout the many twists and turns right to the conclusion. A young man is desperate to upgrade his computer. To help raise the money for it, he goes to a fertility clinic to donate sperm. Twenty years later, he is a tech millionaire with more money than he can possibly spend. He finds out that he is dying from Huntington’s Disease and he may have passed this gene down to each of his offspring. He is now desperate to find the children that were produced from his sperm donation to warn them and possibly help them out financially. Complications arise, as one by one, his offspring seem to be disappearing before he can get to them. The chapters flow back and forth through different story lines but each chapter is short and the action is fast paced. You will recognize one of the story lines right out of recent headlines. For sure, this is an entertaining read. I am a huge fan of Linwood Barclay but was disappointed in his last book, “Elevator Pitch.” This book proves that he is right back up there at the top of his game.

Miles Cookson has made millions in the tech industry. Unfortunately, he has been diagnosed with Huntington's disease, a fatal illness that sees you loose your motor functions and cognitive abilities. If you have the gene, you have a 50% chance of developing the disease.

As a younger man, Miles was broke and decided to donate his sperm to a fertility clinic for money. He finds out that he has nine biological children whom he wants to warn about their chance of inheriting the Huntington's gene. He also wants to give then a share of his fortune. He finds out who they are and where they live, but one-by-one they are being killed. Not only killed, but all traces of their identity is removed.

There are many twists and turns in this book. I recommend it highly.

Author Linwood Barclay has done it again! He has given us another page-turning, unputdownable thriller with "Find You First". He has become one of my favourite authors and each new novel seems better than the last.
Tech millionaire Miles Cookson was recently diagnosed with a terminal illness and there is a fifty percent chance it can be passed onto the next generation. Two decades earlier, Miles was a sperm donor. He sets out to find those he fathered to share his inheritance. In his effort to track them down he quickly discovers they are disappearing.
Excellent writing, a captivating storyline, well-developed good and bad characters, lots of suspense and tads of humour thrown in too.
Highly Recommended!

Thank you to NetGalley and William Morrow and Custom House for an arc of this novel in exchange for my honest review!

My thoughts:⁣⁣
⁣⁣
-Ok. Where the heck has Linwood Barclay been all of my life? This book was wild, ridiculous and SUPER ENTERTAINING. I spent so much time thinking I had everything figured out reading this one and then BAM - a wrench (or 12) was thrown into my theory! It was a really well thought out storyline that had me shaking my head chapter after chapter.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
-This book gets a lot of creativity points. You'll be a little confused at the sheer number of characters in this story - some that are just names and some that are absolutely crucial to the plot - but all of them matter. There were lots of points in the story where I had to stop, consume what I read and try to put together the puzzle pieces before moving on. There is a LOT going on in this book, so make sure you're putting aside a lot of uninterrupted time to read this.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
-I've seen a lot of people say this is predictable. In some ways, it was, but I thought that the premise behind this was super unique and it takes the reader on a non-stop thrill ride from start to finish. Full transparency - I had NO idea how this one was gonna end, but I loved it. Barclay had me on the edge of my seat for almost 500 pages!

I love, love, loved this book from beginning to end. It’s beautifully detailed, filled with amazing characters, and written in an easy-to-read manner. It’s filled with nostalgia, love, and a little harmless mischief.

In the pages of this book you will meet Mary Jane, a fourteen year old girl who has agreed to be a summer nanny to a doctor’s daughter. What she doesn’t realize that she’s about to step into a world of free spirits. That’s going to be an eye opener to this child from a very conformist and uptight family. Her mother, especially, has rigid cultural and social norms, and she believes everyone else should too. She’s highly repressed and restrictive. Both she and her husband are racist and anti-Semitic. What Mary Jane finds in the Cone house, however, is a hippie vibe. Lots of love, but also a laissez-faire attitude toward household management. In other words, the house is filled with clutter. No one in the house likes to cook, either. But they want their five year old to be well-taken care of. These are such foreign things to Mary Jane. Her mother believes being a housewife, keeping a home, and cooking are the highest accomplishments for a woman. But Mary Jane is up to the task. But what will she do if her parents find out that she’s doing more than taking care of a five year old?

In the Cone house, there are also some famous guests, a movie star, Sheba, and her rock star husband, Jimmy. They are kind, generous, and loving people, but they came for Jimmy to receive treatment from Dr. Cone. This is the serious part of the book. Jimmy is being treated for multiple addictions. But when he’s not in treatment, he and Sheba, along with Mary Jane, become part of the family.

This was such a great story, so easy to read, and engulfing. I felt like I was a part of this wonderful group of people who formed a loving family. It’s not a straight line story, either. There are some surprises. There’s also use of some crude language at times. These are flawed people, not perfect dolls. They all have problems. They’ve all come from different backgrounds that provided difficulties and challenges. But at the end, it’s very much of a feel-good tale. I know that I smiled throughout most of the book. I would love to see a sequel to this book.

I received a advanced reader copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley. I thank them for their generosity, but it had no effect on this review. All opinions in this review reflect my true and honest reaction to reading this book.

I didn’t think I would like this book and thought of giving up several times. I really didn’t think I would like the way the story progressed. But I hung in there and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this book. It was well written and had several storylines that fit together quite nicely. I think the title of the book was fitting and the writing style was great. Thank you to Net Galley for an advanced copy of this book. I will definitely read this author again and this is my honest review.
