This is one of my favourite authors so I was very excited to start this book.

When Gail reports a rape that occurred in her own home by a stranger, she is told by the police there is not enough evidence and nothing comes of it.

A few tears later Gail meets Martha at a support group and is astonished to hear that Martha was raped in the same circumstances she was.

Gail and Martha become friends and discover they were both raped on the same night, several years apart. With that night fast approaching they work together to find out who the culprit is.

This is a very compelling read and I would definitely recommend this book as it's fast paced and full of suspense.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy in exchange for an honest review.

Katerina Diamond is a brilliant crime thriller writer. The Silence is about a serial rapist that begins with Gail being roofied and raped in her home and when she reports it to the police she is basically written off as many rape victims are.

For two years Gail lives in fear until one day she goes to a group meeting to help her move on and realizes that one of the other members has an identical story to hers.

From there the story is absolutely gripping and full of suspense. Although the subject is a tough one, it is so realistic that it plays out like a movie in your head while you’re flipping the pages to see what happens next.

The plot twists are jaw dropping. If you are a lover of a great crime thriller I highly recommend this and all of Diamond’s books.

An interesting book, taking a difficult look into what happens after a rape, when the system fails you. However, I found the writing flat and repetitive, and struggled to really get into it. I’d also guessed the identity of the rapist early on, so it wasn’t much of a shock. What did shock was <spoiler>Gail’s sudden descent into violence</spoiler>. I’m not a fan of the perpetrator’’s story interwoven into the narrative, but this one was intriguing, though (again) rather flat. There were unanswered questions, though, especially what changed the rapist from being so physically repulsive to pleasant.

I adore Katerina Diamond’s Imogen Gray and Adrian Miles series and have read her standalone books so seeing another from this author I was really excited to read it.

This book was so well written, it started off slowly as the storyline background was laid and the content picked up and twist were revealed. I feel it needed to be a slow burn in the start of the novel due to the content so for me I didn’t mind as knew the theme of the book needed to be covered thoroughly.

The portrayal of sexual abuse and rape was written really well and was hard to read at times due to the content. The psychological element was spot on and having first hand experiences of some elements I really felt pulled back into the past as parts were described really well. It’s brutal, shocking and disturbing.

Overall, yes at times it’s hard to read but it’s written with compassion and is well researched. The brutal truth of women putting up with sexual advances, being attacked and subsequently not believed is sadly truthful.

Wonderfully written book and looking forward to reading the authors next book.

This was a slow start for me, and in the beginning, it took me a while to get to it. On the third attempt, I got into it, and then it was an afternoon read, I just had to finish it. I had thought it was one of two people, so my instincts worked, I then just wanted to know how everyone else would realise.

This story is about rape survivors, and so there are a lot of triggers throughout.

I waa given an advance copy by the publishers and netgalley but the review is entirely my own

Thank you to Avon for sending me a copy of this book
I’ve always been a big Katerina Diamond fan and was really looking forward to getting stuck into this one
There are some trigger warnings with this book, which I would urge people to read before starting this book.

Throughout reading this book, I really did feel for Gail. She really had had an injustice served to her.
The book was very gripping. I did guess the rapist and I did find it a little far fetched. However, it’s a fiction book so it didn’t ruin my enjoyment of the book
The book is hard hitting and very addictive, as all of Katerina Diamonds books are!
Whilst I absolutely loved this book, I do prefer the Imogen Grey series.
This book is just as good, but I prefer a series and becoming attached to the characters over a period of books
This is highly recommended

I really like this author books so I was excited to read this stand alone. It won't be for everyone due to the subject matter.
I thought this book was really well written, although it was rather a brutal story and at times, uncomfortable to read I really enjoyed this book. The author did a great job of handling the rape subject. Definitely recommend this book. Thanks netgalley for this advanced reading copy.

Another great book from Katerina Diamond. A stand alone with painful but well researched perspective. Drawn in by each character be it by hate or admiration. A goosebump read. Thank you netgalley for this ARC.

I love this authors books because they are really dark and quite disturbing. I think this may say more about me than the author but regardless I love them. This one doesn’t disappoint either as it follows the story of a serial rapist who is choosing his victims for one particular reason only and when some of the victims decide to fight back against him it puts them all in danger. Don’t miss this dark thriller from the author of terror.

Firstly this book has a trigger warning the plot is heavily focused on rape. The subject is always going to be a difficult one to read and write about, huge credit to Katerina for the way in which she handled it. I struggled with some of the book as it went a bit far fetched and I had worked out the ending quite early into the story but otherwise a good 3* read

Told to drop terrifying sexual allegation due to a previous false report Gail is trying to move on with her life despite the horror she suffered, when she hears of another assault mirroring hers the trauma begins again

A very powerful read highlighting the additional stresses that victims suffer and the whispers that surround them

I have liked other Katerina Diamond books so it was a no-brainer to me to request it.
I went into this book blind but was immediately hooked.
Gail suffered a terrible injustice from the night she was raped, the lack of evidence meant the police could do nothing. Which happens all too much.
Gail wants the person to pay for what he has done and when she finds out did it on the exact date a year later, she knows he will strike again and time is running out to stop him.
With no help from the police, She takes it upon herself to lure him out with the help of others that have been attacked by the same person.
When her attacker is revealed it's shocking, but not at the same time. You will know what I mean when you have read it.
This got me in ways other books haven’t. It was shocking, and saddening and it made me angry in parts too.

It is a hard-hitting book and I would recommend people read the trigger warnings before starting it.

Very well written didn’t guess. Read it with compassion for anyone who goes through this and rage at him: so that kept me interested

This one was soooo good.
I love these kinds of thrillers and it was so multi layered as well which was great to keep me as the reader gripped and wanting to keep reading.
We have our main character who has been assaulted and isnt listened to by the police, we then have her friend who had the same done to her which proves it happened.
Then we have the police detective looking into the case and it was just so thrilling.

The Silence, Katerina Diamond

This book is a race against time to ensure that another woman is not raped as the annual anniversary date approaches. Gail wakes up to find herself being raped, but when she reports this assault to the police, they dismiss her, they say, due to lack of evidence.

At a support group, she hears from another woman whose rape is identical to hers. They set out to find other victims and when the police are involved again, they realise that this is not a one-off. The female police officer works with Gail to establish who the rapist is.

I quite enjoyed the book, despite the subject and I guessed who the rapist was. I did feel that the story was a bit repetitive, but the last few chapters made up for this. I will look forward to reading more by this author.

Thank you to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for a copy of this book, I rate it 3 stars.

This is another very gritty read from Katerina Diamond. Gail Reynolds is determined to find the man who raped her in her home. She reports the crime to DS Shona White. Both Gail and Shona are strong likeable characters. This is a tough but brilliant read as are all Katerina Diamond's books.
