Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.

This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience.

This is the first book in this series and I can see the second book will even be better! Conner is a computer hacker. He is working in his room one evening when he hears a noise downstairs. His parents are attacked and kidnapped. This sets the tone for a suspenseful read that will keep you gripped until the end! Can't wait for book number 2.

Thank you to Netgalley and the author for allowing me to read this!

I was instantly intrigued by the synopsis of this book. This book instantly drew me in, I got to explore through the eyes of our main character and this is always my favorite way to discover these details of the story and, it was done very well in this book. I really enjoyed this book and the plot. This author did amazing. I loved the writing style.

Gone is the first book in the Connor Callahan series. The opening sequence of the book reminded me of the movie Abduction except that instead of Connor's parents being killed by the masked assailant, they are kidnapped and Connor is tasered and left behind. A week later another couple is similarly targeted except this couple son is away at college. The police are not able to do much without any solid leads and so Connor and the other couple's son set out to figure out the matter on their own. Connor is a computer geek with great hacking skills and he puts his skills to use. What Connor eventually unearths will make him question everything he thought knew about his life and family.

The book is fast paced with twist and turns although it is a bit odd to see Connor and his friends being able to easily do what the police and FBI with all their hi-tech resources are not. It will be interesting to see what lies in store for Connor.

My thanks to NetGalley, the publisher Irresistible Publishing and the author for the e-Arc of the book.

Oh, I so wanted to love this book.

I’ve really loved every other book I’ve read by Reagan Keeter, but this one just fell flat for me. I’m not saying it was bad, at all. The book was okay. But I just could not for the life of me connect with Connor and with that it made it so much harder for me to read. I liked the mystery behind the story and it definitely helped me at certain points to want to know what was going on. I felt like I had to push myself to finish the story and once I did I didn’t feel that excitement or angst while reading and finishing the book. I just didn’t grab a hold of me like I wanted it to. This book just didn’t do it for me, and that’s okay. But it definitely could be a great read for somebody else! Sometimes some books are just not my cup of tea no matter how badly I want them to be.

⭐️⭐️⭐️

I received an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

This action packed thriller will have you wanting to stay up late to finish. I have read a few novels by Reagen Keeter and they have all peaked my interest and kept me turning the pages.

I received a copy of this from Netgalley in exchange for fair and honest review.

It starts with a home invasion of sorts. The father is knocked out, the mother is tasered. Then they are taken out and thrown into the back of a van. They are gone.

Their son, Conner, was upstairs when the taking of his parents occurred. When he cautiously walked down the stairs, the man comes back into the house. Connor also tasered. Why he wasn't taken is a mystery.

The police have no leads ... no real witnesses, no ransom note found.

Not too long after, another family is targeted. It was done in the same way ... only their son was in college.

What is the connection between these two families? That's what Connor begins searching for. What he finds will forever change, not only his life, but at how he perceives his family. Connor is a hacker .. has he seen or heard something he shouldn't have?

GONE is a young adult thriller, but serves the adult population, as well. I did find it hard to fathom two teenage boys and one young teenage girl to do all the things they did. I had to take a huge bite out of credibility. The characters were deftly drawn and I did enjoy how they main characters interacted with each other.

I found some things not answered .. or addressed. The young girl does have a father .... but then he's never mentioned again. She was traveling all over the place with the teen boys ... she was never home ,... so where was her father? Again ... credibility overlooked.

Many thanks to the author / Irresistible Publishing / Netgalley for the digital copy of this crime fiction. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

The dramatic opening set the tone for this suspense-filled story. After receiving a warning and his parents being abducted, Connor sets out to do what law enforcement fails to do and that's finding out what happened. The author takes you on several twists and turns as the mystery unfolds. I think the story moved well and the author did a good job with the plot and character development. While I could not necessarily connect with the protagonists, the author did a good job of taking us on his journey with detail. I think that maybe I am not necessarily the target audience as it seemed geared toward a bit younger audience and they may be why the story waned for me a bit at times. Also, this is not a genre that I am truly familiar with. I would still recommend this to those who enjoy psychological thrillers as I could appreciate the author's talent for tension building. I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for my honest feedback.

This is the second book by this author that I have read, and it did not disappoint. The book is filled with intrigue, suspense, and mystery.

The book starts off when Connor, home from college, observes his parents being kidnapped from their home. He isn't quite sure what to expect and isn't sure if the police are doing all they can to solve the mystery. With assistance from a news show, he learns that this has happened to someone else. This sets him off down a path to uncover what happened to his parents. It also teaches him that not everything is as it seems.

This book is action-packed and there are several plots throughout and they are tied together in a small way. I enjoyed the bit of computer hacking that was discussed and the characters involved. I can't say too much without giving away part of the story.

Connor's determination to uncover the truth is what keeps the story moving forward. He learns some truths that he never expected and explains what happened to his parents. There are some twists and turns that I did not expect, but once they were revealed kept me on the edge of my seat.

An enjoyable book and one you might want to read if you enjoy suspense and thrillers.  We give it 4 paws up.

The author asked me to read this because I read and enjoyed another book, The Redwood Con. The blurb intrigued me, so I decided to give it a shot. I loved the way the book opens with a dramatic flair, so much happens with so little information or reason why, the best way to open a thriller if you ask me. I had to keep reading to work it all out. This is everything you need from a thriller; well written, fast paced, plenty of twists / turns and ups and downs, intrigue and suspense. The more Connor probed into the truth about what happened the more questions and uncertainties he had. I enjoyed this. It looks like this is the first book in a series, so I look forward to finding out what Connor gets up to next.

A college computer hacker gets a strange message warning him to desist interfering with the web site he posts on. Then his parents are abducted, money is left behind but there are no ransom demands. The police have no clue as our protagonist decides to investigate himself and unleashes a series of mysteries that lead to increasingly dangerous outcomes. An enjoyable psychological thriller that builds nicely to an unexpected climax, so a three-and-a -half star rating. With thanks to NetGalley and the author for a preview copy for review purposes.

Gone by Reagan Keeter.
Connor Callahan book 1.
A good read. Connor's parents have gone. Who has them and why? Can Connor find them? Likeable story and characters. 4*.

This book for me didn't work as I felt as though I was reading a book that would have suited possibly a teenage generation. I didn't enjoy Connor's character and I felt as though the book wasn't gritty enough. I did want to know what happened so continued reading to find out but didn't really enjoy it as much as I hoped I would from the synopsis.

A fast paced thriller as Conner, after witnessing his parents kidnapping has to try and figure how who did it and why......this leads to him finding out secrets and lies and he starts to question everything he thought he knew
Fast paced and exciting with twists and turns, some more realistic than others this is a well written, taut read

Being a witness to his parents kidnapping , Connor's life changes in a few minutes. After finding out that there's no lead or any resolution to his parents disappearance , he decides to take the road of going on his own to find what happens and why nobody knows where they are.
It's a suspenseful story with some predictable twists but also with some unrealistic ones, a fast paced action and so many hidden secrets that leaves Connor wondering who were his parents actually as he discovered that nothing is as it seems or as he knew all his life.

I really wanted to enjoy this book, for I had such high hopes. The premise was intriguing and I felt like it could have gone in so many different directions, but I was kind of let down and had to force myself to finish.

The beginning caught a little of my attention but seemed a bit on the cheesy side. Connor is home from college, in his room when he hears a bang downstairs. Upon inspection, he hears his mother freaking out and realizes that there is someone in the house and the bang was his father falling over after being whacked in the head. He was left with the dilemma of whether he should try to rescue his parents or not. Then he decides that he will but second guesses himself because what if the intruder has a gun! So what does he do??? He hides!!! WTF??? The story moves on with Connor trying to figure out the puzzle of where his parents are and if they are still alive.

I could not connect with Connor at all. He seemed so flat as a character. His actions were weird to me and I never felt his angst or anguish from the entire situation. I honestly got zero feeling from him at all.

What kept me reading was the actual mystery to what actually happened and led to the events of that day. But even that was pushing it and I really did force myself to not DNF this one.

The ending was wrapped up nicely, but there seemed to be a lot of foreshadowing, so I kind of figured it all out prior to actually reaching the end.

I hate giving bad reviews and honestly, this is not my normal genre, so maybe that is where the problem lies? If you enjoy mysteries, you may enjoy this one and should definitely give it a try but it was just meh for me.

Connor is upstairs in his room, overlooking the street, when an unmarked panel van pulls up and a masked man bursts in, kidnapping his father and mother, but leaving him alone. When he discovers that he may not be the only person that this has happened to and mistrusting the police response, he goes on a quest to try and discover the truth about who kidnapped his parents and why.

This is a really good book, with compelling characters and interesting twists. I did guess the identity of the kidnapper quite early in the book due to a hint that I spotted though!
