I have to admit that I was excited but a little hesitant about Winterkeep when it was announced - I adore Graceling and Fire so much that I worried extending the series would be overkill. Luckily, this excerpt hooked me, so I'm more eager to read the new novel next month and find out more about the intriguing politics and relationships set up here. It was already so nice to see a grown-up Bitterblue, read from the perspective of a familiar character, Giddon, and hear early mentions of beloved Graceling characters.

An exciting and enticing excerpt which left me wanting more and eager to continue the novel at its publish!

This was just a preview of a few chapters, but it jumped right into the action and characterization. I really look forward to reading the whole book - just these first few chapters set up an underground resistance network, a mystery in a faraway land, and a potential romantic relationship between a queen and one of her subjects. I can't wait to get back into the Graceling universe!

I'm so excited to read this book when it's available! I'm a huge Kristin Cashore fan and this sample was a great sneak peak of this novel.

This book was received as an ARC from PENGUIN GROUP Penguin Young Readers Group - Dial Books in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.
I am a fan of the Graceling series by Kristin Cashore and did enjoy each book. Winterkeep sure measured up to the rest of the series. Even though this was only a sample, what I read so far seemed like a very enticing book. However, if new to the series, this is not the book to read first due to the many reoccurring characters and past events frequently being mentioned throughout the book which might cause confusion. However, I have read all three books and it was on the refreshing side to see some of our favorite characters pop up and reliving past events from the other three books. I know this book will circulate very well just as her other books in our YA collection.
We will consider adding this title to our YA collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.

Absolutely loved this short sample.
What a great start to a book! I can’t wait to read the full thing when it’s available

Kristin Cashore is a genius and I ADORE her fictional worlds. This one is such an interesting tapestry of light and dark, so beautifully balanced, and all of her gorgeous writing and rich worldbuilding are in service of a taut and fascinating plot. I'll read anything she writes.

Gosh, it's been ages since I've read this series so I remember bits and pieces about everything, yet I was still extremely excited when I found out that we were getting a new book.
This excerpt is such a tease! Definitely made me want to reread Bitterblue. Can't wait for the whole book to come out.

This series is one of my absolute favorites and I'm so excited that we're getting another book! This little excerpt was such a tease though; I can't wait to read the full thing. I love this world and these characters and getting to spend more time with them, even just these few chapters, makes me so happy. I think I might have to reread the rest of the books in anticipation.

This chapter sampler really has made me excited for the rest of the book. More so than I already was even. So glad to have another book focusing on Bitterblue, and looks like we see some cameos from other favourites too.

This sample of Winterkeep is such a tease. I need the rest of the book! Good thing it releases soon. I loved getting back in this world of Gracelings, meeting Bitterblue again, seeing mentions of Katsa and Po. This world and series is magical, and I can’t wait to have the physical book in my hands.

Winterkeep

Having only read the short tease from Netgalley I am reminded of the remarkable nature of this series. I purchased Graceling , Fire , and Bitter Blue for my daughter having read the first story and falling in love with the world of Monsea, i was excited to see another book in the series. I am just as please as before about this story. I hope to finish the story.

Full disclosure, my review is only based on a sneak peak of this book and I am VERY intrigued! I had forgotten how much I loved the Graceling universe and how much I wanted to be in it. Now I can't wait to read the full version, which I'm sure I'll love. I gave the sneak peak 3 stars just because not a ton happened, just some political intrigue and set up for adventure and further sleuthing

I received a copy of this sneak peek from Dial Books and Netgalley.
It has been far too long since my last visit to the Seven Kingdoms series and it was a thrill to be back.
These three chapters have me so excited for the book.
I can't wait!

This excerpt was exciting because it was my first time in 10+ years I've been able to be back inside the world of Graceling. I loved seeing Bitterblue so confident in herself as she rules as queen and how the world has changed during her rule. I also enjoyed the expansion of this world into Winterkeep, and look forward to continuing this story.

This was a fun return to Monsea, this chapter samples was from Giddon’s point of view. I enjoyed all of the cameos of characters from the previous books and I’m curious as to how the plot will continue! Kristin Cashore is such a talented writer, I felt very drawn in only a few pages. I’m looking forward to seeing if romance will play a factor in this book for Bitterblue! Winterkeep releases January 19, 2021. Thank you to Kristin Cashore, Dial Books, and Netgalley for a free chapter sampler in exchange for honest feedback.

I need the rest of this book. I was happy with how bitterblue ended but now.... now I need to know how winterkeep ends. I did not I need more to this series but apparently, I do.

I love Kristin Cashore’s work. Her writing is always phenomenal, and this little snippet is no stranger to that fact. The snippet contains a sneak peek of the prologue and the first couple of chapters of Winterkeep, the next book in the Graceling series. This book is set to be released on the 19th January 2021. It’s hard to determine how the full book will be received, but I really enjoyed reading this sampler and was left wanting more.. I’m looking forward to reading the next novel in the Graceling series!

This is a sample of the first three chapters of the book, all from Giddon's point of view.
Giddon, along with other Council members like Katsa and Po, have been smuggling Gracelings from Estill, where they are still the property of the government, into Monsea, where they can be free under Queen Bitterblue's rule. But Estill is not the only country to worry about, as Monsea has been in communication with the country of Winterkeep across the sea. They seem more technologically advanced, with airships and telepathic animals and all sorts of wonders, but after the suspicious deaths of Bitterblue's emissaries, she becomes convinced that the only way to get to the bottom of what is going on is to go herself.
I adored Graceling when it first came out, and reading these chapters was almost like visiting with old friends - and the time seemed to pass just as quickly, too! Giddon's got an interesting take on everything going on in Monsea. We've also already got the setup for a romance, as it's obvious he's in love with Bitterblue, though she seems to view him only as a good friend.
I can't wait to read the rest of the book and see what's really going in with Monsea!

This sampler made me realize it’s time to revisit the world! Based on this tiny snippet I’m even more excited to dive into this upcoming release!
