I think this is perfect for fans of The Bookish & The Beast by Ashley Poston and To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han. Kara's life is full of love - fictional loves. I love that she's a bookstagrammer and a best-selling author. She's helping her best friend with her wedding planning but things take a different turn when Kara's first love, Ryan Thompson, shows up at the wedding party as a guest. It gives Kara inspiration for her book and I loved how everything unfolds. It's a cute book with all the rom-com feels.

Talk Bookish to Me by Kate Bromely was a wonderful and sweet romantic comedy. Reminiscent of 27 Dresses, this book follows the reunion of the romance novelist maid of honor, Kara, and her college sweetheart and groomsman, Ryan. This book takes place in New York City and has not only all of the sweetest bookish vibes but is heavily romantic. I highly enjoyed the very meta-sections of Kara’s own romance novel. For fans of The Bromance Bookclub, I cannot recommend this book highly enough!

Omg. I adored Talk Bookish to Me! I knew from the first page that I was going to love this. Have you ever had that happen? Loving a book from the first page—almost as if it’s like love at first sight. Kara abd Ryan were everything. What I loved most about them though was their humor abd dialogue. They were both so quirky abd fun! I’m so sad to say that I was quite sad that it ended. I didn’t want it to end because I loved these characters so much. Even though there’s a certain point in the book where I seriously wanted to throttle Ryan, I couldn’t stay mad because his love for Kara was so genuine. This was such a beautiful love story that’s put me on a huge book hangover!

Sometimes I love a book so much that I savor every minute of reading it. Sometimes I love a book so much that I can't put it down as I have to know what happens... thats what happened when I read this. I was so invested in Ryan and Kara I felt like I knew them. And while somewhat predictable, there were a few twists and turns along the way.. Definitely a must read for people who love rom coms!

This book is my new favorite comfort read! I started reading it thinking I would go through a few chapters to get me started, and I literally finished it in one sitting. The sexual tension between the characters is dynamite, and I loved the main character’s internal struggle. She was so real and relatable, it made reading the book easy. Definitely a fun 5 star read for me!

I enjoyed the "book within a book" aspect and it was well-done. There was some serious reflection and depth regarding their relationship (especially towards the end). I'd love for her Broadway-loving friend to get her own story!

This delightful story about a bookstagrammer and romance author who has writer's block until her ex reappears. Is he her muse? Are her feelings real? Can they work through their past to create a future and will she finish her book on time? A story of friendship and first love and discovering who you really are.

Ten years after a disastrous split with her first love, romance novelist Kara Sullivan crashes right back into him. Both in the same wedding party, they rekindle their relationship as they uncover the feelings they’ve long tried to bury. Bromley’s dialogue is super cute and snappy, so fans of flirtatious/teasing banter should find lots to enjoy here.

The meta plot of ~romance novelist writes romance novels while undergoing the exact scenarios of a romance novel~ means the book, including Kara herself, are well-aware of the fantasy and absurdity of it all. I liked Kara’s staunch defense of her favorite genre to other characters, particularly the love interest, Ryan.

Without giving away any significant plot points, I will say the final section of the book took place outside of the main setting (NYC), and it felt a bit disjointed. I would’ve loved spending a bit more time there. I liked it as a backdrop for Kara’s self-reflection, and the fact that she gave herself time with her writing and herself to process her complicated feelings.

[3/5: I don’t read a lot of romance, so this was a fun excursion for me into a genre I have little experience with. Kate Bromley has a great light read here, one that I suspect more avid followers of the genre will devour happily.]

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review!
