I was very happy with this cookbook. This book wasn't just about the recipes, techniques and helpful tips (although you do get all that), it has personality. The author uses his own family life to infuse this entertaining read with lots of genuineness and gives it a nice level of relatability. I liked that so much. I thought there was a solid array of recipes featured and the instructions were clear and easy to follow. The book itself is colorful and eye-catching. The photos are beautiful and the ones featuring the author and his family add a lot of charm to the book. I do wish that there had been a photo of every recipe though nutritional info would have been very welcome. The variety here is very good and I feel very strongly that you'd find something to tempt your appetite and have you heading into the kitchen. All your basic mealtimes and dessert are covered in here and many of these recipe would also work very well for brunches, snacks and lower key get togethers. I also thought it was great that notes were given on things you could do ahead and how to freeze and re-warm some things for on the go options for harried mornings. While I wouldn't necessarily call these recipes necessarily no-fuss, I do agree that they offer a wonderful simplicity that will hold a major amount of appeal for those that have a novice to a moderate level of cooking skills and families that want to get in the kitchen together. One of my favorite recipes that I have tried so far has been the Twice-Baked Denver-Style Stuffed Sweet Potatoes. Sweet potatoes and Denver omelets are two of my favorite things and I have never thought of combining the two together until this book. This recipe I think really showcases the wonderfulness of this book. It inspires you, while also offering adaptability and versatility. I feel that this book would be a welcome addition to almost any kitchen or bookshelf.

This cookbook is a fantastic resource for everyday family meals. The layout makes the recipes super easy to follow and I loved that it used primarily whole food ingredients. I have a three year-old who is picky and he enjoyed several of the recipes. I will definitely be returning to this one!

The cookbook seems like a rehash of most family/toddler instagram recipe pages. While I appreciate them all in one place, there's nothing new and exciting here.

I received The No-Fuss Family Cookbook as part of a NetGalley giveaway.

As young families know, mealtimes can be a minefield. The No-Fuss Family Cookbook attempts to remedy this with a selection of familiar but creative recipes that will both satisfy and nourish everyone. The layout is very clean and minimal, which I appreciate, and it's very vegetarian friendly. The recipes themselves are accessible and the flavors are fairly simple and straightforward to appeal to children's palates. A really useful cookbook for any growing family.

I loved the personal and friendly approach in this cook book! You get a real insight into how Scott cooks for his family and how he has managed to make his daughter's palate that of a chef's! There are quite a few recipes I'm keen to try, especially the crispy brussels sprouts with parmesan dressing. I've grown to be a massive brussels sprouts fan, so this will be an interesting twist as I usually make it with spices. Also salmon with taco spice? Put me down as intrigued!

Loving this book so much. I've made several of the recipes in it and so far they’re all slam dunks despite some substitutions and issues on my part. Overall a fantastic book that brings gourmet restaurant tastes to the home in the COVID time. Love it.

Not for me. I wanted more pics of the food, less of the author and his family. And as a parent most of these recipes would not be well received. I did find a few that sounded good, but only a handful out of an entire book. Lastly most are not what I would call fuss free. Just not a winner for me.

I choose this book for a few different reasons. The first reason is because of the title. I have a toddler so the idea of no fuss family meals sounded great to me. The second reason is because I recognized the author.

The cover and pictures inside are night and eye catching. There are photos of Ryan Scott and his family and of some of the food. There are a few pages that give background story for the Scotts.

I reviewed all of the receipts in the book and was quite disappointed when I only found about 1 recipe per a section that I wanted to make. All of the recipes are pretty basic as far as ingredients and equipment needed go. I prefer a cookbook that gives me photos for each recipe as I like to see what the final product looks like. I eat with my eyes first.

The No-Fuss Family Cookbook is a tutorial guide and recipe collection for everyday family-friendly food written by Ryan Scott. Due out 25th May 2021 from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, it's 288 pages and will be available in hardcover and ebook formats.

This book is a nice resource, especially for simple everyday family dinners. The recipes are made with easily sourced ingredients and have a broad appeal for casual cuisine. The recipe section is arranged thematically: breakfasts & baked goods, salads soups & snacks, pasta, dinner, veggies & sides, and desserts.

Each of the recipes includes an introductory description, ingredients listed in a bullet point sidebar (US measurements only), and step by step instructions. Nutritional info is not included. I believe all of the recipes are accompanied by photographs. The photos provided are high quality and clear and serving suggestions are attractive and appropriate. This is definitely a beautifully photographed cookbook.
All in all, very well written, beautifully presented food, made from family friendly ingredients which are easily sourced and taste good.

Five stars, we'll be revisiting this cookbook. For families with young children or toddlers, this one will be especially welcome. There's a lot of appealing finger and bite sized food here.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

Nice cookbook with a wide variety of recipes. Almost all of them have full color photos of the dishes. The author is a chef, and some of the recipes didn't seem totally kid friendly to me, knowing how picky some kids can be. They did all sound delicious, and there were lots I do think kids would enjoy. Nice that many included veggies, also. The recipe chapters are breakfast and baked goods, salads/soups/snacks, pasta, dinner, veggies and sides, and dessert.

The No-Fuss Family Cookbook is an absolute treat to flip through. From gorgeous eye catching photos to easy to follow recipes, there really is no going wrong with picking up this title. Are they really no fuss? I'm not so sure I would go that far. However, this cookbook is perfect for an already experienced cook looking to up their dinner game. These are not 15min recipes nor do they only call for 5 ingredients. But I think it takes simple & basic recipes and elevates them to a chef-like level.

I'm still not really convinced that this is a family cookbook. Several of the recipes call for ingredients that I would be hard pressed to get my 3 year old to eat. I don't see her wanting However, outside of the slightly complicated dinner dishes, there are easy to make and please recipes sprinkled throughout. This cookbook is better suited towards weekend adventures in cooking and dinners to impress guests.

This cookbook is not for me. The recipes mostly had too many ingredients to be considered “fuss-free”, although I did notice that for the most part the ingredients were fairly commonplace and inexpensive. I appreciated all the photos, but when I think of fuss-free cooking, I’m looking for recipes that have fewer ingredients (like less than 10, including seasoning). There weren’t really any recipes I saw that looked special enough that I want to go to the trouble of making them.

I love that these recipes are amazing for the whole family while also being healthy too! The notes in each recipe provide super helpful tips to diversify the dish and to give you helpful guidance on substitutions, if you wish! It's great that there are so many options for variations for different family members in the house - makes it easy for there to be kid friendly meals with a quick and easy spin to make it adult friendly too! Lots of vegan and vegetarian options too if you're into that! This book takes family friendly recipes, elevates them and makes them easy to prepare! Will keep this one in the kitchen and not on the shelf, it's great to always go back to!

Good cookbook for a busy family. The recipes are not complicated or fussy and are geared to getting dinner on the table with a minimum of time. For the most part the recipes are kid friendly and the book includes many photographs of the food as well as the author's family. I tried several dishes from the book and for the most part was pleased with the results. One thing I wish it included was nutritional info/calories etc. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to eat fairly heathy meals with very little prep.

I love this book! As I am going through it for the first time, you can feel the love in this family! The photos are not perfect, yes they are candid but do not look staged, more like moments captured on film. Even the photos of the dishes look real, there is egg stuck on the muffin tin, burnt drippings on the pans, the pans their self are worn and well loved. This reminds me of getting an inside peek into someone's home and their family recipes rather than a "celebrity chef" cookbook. Which is a great thing!!

Now the recipes are simple and amazingly delicious! I love that there are some to hide veggies for the kids, and most dishes are lower sugar. This is the perfect book to give a new mom or mom to be. This is the food that kids should be raised on, rather than the over processed junk. But this book breaks them down into easy and quick to make meals, making it a lifestyle that any one can find the time for.

Without going to too much detail about the recipes the meatloaf was insanely delicious! I would have never thought to add sauerkraut or oddities to it. But it works beautifully! Beware this isn't the ketchup covered meatloaf you may be used to, but its a turkey healthy meatloaf you will try and never go back.

I love reading cookbooks. They are usually filled with beautiful pictures of food and interesting back stories to the recipes in the book. This cookbook is no different.

The recipes in the book are easy to follow. I have tried several and had success with each one that I tried. The recipes are easy to follow and not overly difficult to make.

My only negative feedback is that some of the recipes reference specific items from specific companies. This items are not available in Canada and after some research found that the items were not available, nor was a substitute.

This cookbook had some really great recipes. The recipes were easy to understand and not too complicated for the average cook. I enjoyed the illustrations and look forward to making these recipes for years to come.

The No-Fuss Family Cookbook: Simple Recipes for Everyday Life by Ryan Scott
Photography by Chris Andre

Find beautifully photographed, appetizing recipes in this well written and colourful cookbook by Emmy Winner, Celebrity Chef Ryan Scott.
I enjoyed his pleasant way of telling stories about the recipes and anecdotes related to his life. It’s a fun and useful book to keep handy as he suggests substitutes to help you create your own recipes based on your taste or on what’s in season.

I particularly like his Grapefruit Poppy Seed Pound Cake, his Sticky Buns and his 3-2-1 Lemon-Soy Vinaigrette. The recipes are well explained and the ingredients are easy to find if you don’t have them on-hand. It’s a cookbook for everyone to use.

This cookbook had lots of fantastic pictures! I enjoyed the cute family pictures the author included, and of course, the appetizing pictures of the recipes. Almost every recipe seems to have a picture, and some even have more than one. Most of the recipes also look pretty yummy as well. I also loved the informative notes they added. The thing I disliked the most is that a lot of the recipes have a decent number of ingredients, so that is not what I would describe as "no-fuss". Also, there is no nutritional facts. Many of us need those for medical reasons, so that was a big disappointment. Sure, all of the ingredients could just be plugged in to figure that out, but I prefer when the cookbook I am using has done that already since it can be quite tedious to do before every meal. As a whole, it is a great book, though because it would take so much work to make the recipes and factor which recipes would not spike my blood sugars, it is not one I would use frequently.
