Description:

Your new go-to collection of easy, family-friendly recipes, from popular chef and television personality Ryan Scott

Emmy Award–winning celebrity chef (and dad) Ryan Scott knows well that family life is wonderful, but can be a very hectic business—stressing over mealtime shouldn’t add to the madness! This heartfelt collection comes straight from his home kitchen’s regular rotation into yours. Reflecting Ryan’s colorful personality and practical approach, the recipes are kid-friendly and packed with clever hacks and pro tips for getting meals on the table (and cleaning up) quickly. There are no fussy cooking techniques or long ingredient lists; instead, the focus is on family-centered meals for even the busiest of days—irresistible recipes like Turkey Reuben Meatloaf, Broccoli-Cheddar Bow Ties, and Naturally Sweet PB&J Pancakes. Even crowd-pleasing desserts like Everything-But-the-Kitchen-Sink Cookies and Butterscotch Marshmallow Squares remain delightfully simple, for minimal stress and maximum fun.

Pros:

- The pictures are well done and make you want to make the food.
- The family pictures are cute and make sense in the context of the cookbook.
- Directions are easy to follow and start with a paragraph or two about why they developed the recipe.
- The recipes I have made so far, have been absolutely delicious.

Cons:

- Some of the recipes are a bit complex and take longer for non-experienced cooks to make than listed in the recipes.
- If you don't read the notes at the end of the recipes (which are often on a separate page) it could throw off your recipe. For example, the Old-School Spiced Pork Hash has you making twice the amount of pork you need but the note on that is on the next page and if I had missed it, wouldn't have frozen the other half, I would have added it to the Hash.
- Many recipes need a lot of ingredients.

Would I recommend it?

I would recommend it to those who are experienced cooks. I had no problem making these recipes but my husband did. Taste-wise, they are phenomenal.

This is a fun cookbook with lots of cute pictures of the family. There are so many recipes that look delicious and I can’t wait to try- especially the pumpkin cream cheese streusel muffins and the sweater-weather oven-braised beef stew!

Good cookbook! I feel like it is easy for anyone to pick up and make a recipe, didn't have CRAZY ingredients and wack directions! There is multiple recipes I want to try and for that I am thankful!

Thanks to Netgalley and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt for this ARC in exchange for my review.

The No-Fuss Family Cookbook is a collection of recipes made with busy families in mind. There are no extensive instructions or long lists of ingredients. As it says in the title, no fuss. Divided into six sections and well illustrated, the book presents plenty of easy and creative meals to be enjoyed by the whole family. I tried to bullet point some of the recipes I want to try for this review, but realized there are too many to list. This is a great cookbook and I'm looking forward to cooking some of these meals for my family.

I really love how this cookbook isn't full of 5 million sections, and instead has 6 different sections along with an intro, acknowledgments, and an index. The pictures look good enough to eat right out of the book, and some of the pics are downright funny. I love that we get a sneak peek into Ryan Scott's life. My favorite thing about this cookbook is the fact that pretty much every recipe has a picture to go along with it, which is a huge factor when I'm looking at or through cookbooks. I need to see a picture of the final product. I appreciate the fact that each page isn't bombarded with random things that don't need to be there. Each page either has a recipe or a picture of the recipe. No additional flourishes, no random pictures of sunsets. It's perfectly laid out.

I am always on the lookout for a new cookbook to add to my evergrowing collection! Ryan Scott's new book doesn't disappoint!

I was provided an advanced digital copy of the book from the publisher via Netgalley for review purposes, all opinions are my own.

Great cookbook, filled with lots of tips and really innovative recipes. In a world of Pinterest we need cookbooks like this that offer little extras.

You'll find lots of color photos and pretty graphics in The No-Fuss Family Cookbook. Most of the recipes look really good and lean towards the healthy side of eating. For example Olive's Naturally Sweet PB&J Pancakes is a good example using healthy ingredients to prepare the recipe as you will fid whole wheat flour, bananas, peanut butter and blueberries in the recipe.

Overall, this seems to be a good family cookbook based on the recipes and photos emphasizing family life.

Recommend.

This book was received as an ARC from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

I absolutely was waiting for this book and I am a huge fan of Top Chef and contestants like Ryan Scott were definitely the most memorable and I remember his out of the box dishes he presented and how talented he is. I remember him saying that in his parent's restaurant, his father fired two cooks in the first week because he outcooked them at 11 years old. So I expected nothing but the best in this cookbook and now he is a family man, I was blown away at how easy he made these recipes and how fun they are to do with children (his daughter Olive is adorable). I can't wait to try the PB&J Pancakes, The no knead English Muffins and the buttermilk biscuits with almost no sugar jam. I know this will be a hit with our Cooking Demo and I can't wait to share it with our library. community.

We will consider adding this title to our TX Non-Fiction collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.

This cookbook seems to have a lot of regular recipes kicked up a notch... so for example banana bread (ordinary but great), this cookbook has triple coconut banana bread. What a neat idea! Every recipe in this cookbook seemed like a twist on a classic and I a m here for it.

First off I’m a Ryan Scott fan. I watched him on Rachael Ray and loved his recipes so I knew I would love this cookbook. All the recipes are accessible and easy to follow, most all recipes are accompanied by terrific pics. And the pics will make you want to run into your kitchen and get started! Oh and the cute family pics are so sweet too! That baby is a doll! This cookbook has the recipes for your every day meals and special desserts.

Great recipes for young kids! I definitely need this for my picky eaters, and it helps that it is written by parents for parents.

I was curious about this cookbook when I saw the title. I am always on the lookout for good wholesome quick meals to feed my family. This book did not disappoint. as the author states this is a cookbook for everyone; meateaters, vegans and vegetarians. There is something everyone will enjoy. It might even encourage some meateaters to try some vegetarian fare. There's some great breakfast choices from simple pancakes to more complicated breakfast wellingtons. There are lots of helpful hints and personal accounts along with the recipes. There are beautiful salads that make you want to dive right in. And the three cheese mac and cheese muffins will be made in my kitchen soon. I love cookbooks with pictures and the pictures in this book make me want to make all of the recipes.

You could eat something different every day of the year! There is a breakfast recipe that use peanut butter, bananas, wheat flour and jelly to create fluffy, fruity pancakes, no-knead English muffins, that are fried and take 2 days to make, and no - bake blueberry energy bites that use blueberries, oatmeal, flaxseed, dates and chocolate chips to make a take along snack.
You will find recipes for pumpkin cream - cheese streusel muffins, slow cooker creamy tomato soup with cheesy waffle dippers, and slam - dunk salami rolls.
Enjoy making grilled double skewered shrimp with paprika butter, ranch style "panko and bake" chicken fingers, and cornmeal crust white pizza.

This cookbook does a great job at including kid-friendly, adults-(probably)-only, and DIY to everyone’s own tastes. About half of the recipes have pictures. And each recipe has a blurb to introduce Ryan’s reasoning for including it. Many of the recipes also have notes at the end for substitutions and other tips. It’s a great cookbook to give as a gift to new families or more established families who may need some new staples.

I really like the organization and presentation of this cookbook. The pictures are huge for me. When I am trying new recipes, I need to know what my "end goal" is supposed to look like. I do think some of the recipes are a little complicated to be considered a family cookbook. There were a ton of options that my kiddos would not even begin to touch.

Wow... this cookbook houses some gorgeous looking recipes! This book is titled no fuss but the recipes involved are explained well and packed with wholesome ingredients.

What did I like? Gorgeous food pictures anyone? I’m happy to report a ton of these recipes follow a low salt diet. There is also a ton of side notes for those that like a variation in the meals offered. The recipe itself comes with a little side story and some personalization. I bookmarked a ton of recipes to try, including the ex boyfriends goulash.

Would I buy or recommend? Oh yea! This cookbook has some mouth watering recipes. I have bookmarked quite a few! The fare inside is mostly American food but done a little more eloquently by a chef. Anyone who loves food and cooking will love this cookbook! I aim to make quite a few of these recipes! Five stars for No Fuss!

I received a complimentary copy to read and voluntarily left a review!
