Charlotte is about to be alone. Her daughter is now married, and her dear frond is about to marry and move out of the home they shared. One night she spies a handsome man named Glenn Esh and makes the proclamation that she has just found her future husband. When she sees the handsome Amish man, she asks her best friend Paul who he is. Paul eagerly introduces them, and this is when his dreams begin to die. His feelings for Charlotte go beyond friendship, but he does not know how to tell her.

Meanwhile, after a medical checkup, Charlotte discovers that her days of motherhood might be over. Shockingly, however, the opportunity is literally dropped in her lap. A baby shows up on her doorstep, and Charlotte just might have the opportunity to mother baby Amber permanently. However, Amber needs two parents, and although Charlotte was concerned that being Amish to an Englisch baby might be problematic for the social worker, it is her unmarried status that might remove the opportunity.

No worries. Charlotte has picked out Glenn Esh. Now, to bring him around. It is also very important for Charlotte to maintain her friendship with best friend Paul.

I loved this story. Charlotte does have a grown daughter who is married and about to have her own baby, but by all rights she is still a young woman in her early forties that deserves a happily ever after of her own. Can she become a wife to Glenn and a mother to Amber? If so, what about Paul and his very strong feelings for Charlotte.

While things seem impossible, Amy Lillard has done a remarkable job with this emotional story that brings two people together for a happy future. It was also nice to see the Amish in the position of adopting and fostering. This is a delightful addition to a series that I only began with book ten, Romancing Nadine. As soon as my schedule lifts a bit I intend on reading the first nine books in the series before book twelve is released.

I don't know exactly what to say about this book. I also don't know why I start a lot of my reviews this way. I got this book when I was in the midst of my Amish Literature Project: what is it and why? that I have since abandoned and it was weird to go back to Amish fiction.
This book in particular was weird in itself. It felt a strange mix of Christian feel-good fiction and something else, trying to discuss difficult topics but without going deep at all. I think it had potential (and I kind of enjoyed the baby plotline) but then it just wandered a bit for too long and I never *got* the main character.
Some of the other books in this series sound intriguing as well but I don't think I'll try them because I don't think the execution will work for me.

I received an ARC copy of this book from Netgalley.

Eh…the book was just okay for me. Which is a shame because I’ve read other books by this author that I enjoyed.

I struggled with Charlotte. At first it was because all she wanted to do was get married. For someone who had already been married and raised a child, it didn’t seem like the thoughts she would have. There was so little mention of her first husband I even questioned at first if she had even been married. There was no comparing Glenn to her first husband. No mention of the first husband might like Glenn. It was as if he didn’t exist.

Honestly Charlotte seemed like an immature child. Like a young teenager. Not like a woman in her 40s

I love going back to Wells Landing and visiting the characters. This book is about Charlotte. Others around Charlotte are getting married. So she wonder's if she is always going to be alone. Stuff happens and Charlotte decides she needs to do what decision is best for her. This was such a sweet story. I really enjoyed reading this book.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a chance to read and review this wonderful book! A New Love for Charlotte is a good read. especially if you have read the previous books by Amy Lillard. This is a continuation of her other books, but can definitely be a stand alone novel.

I loved this book. You could just feel what Charlotte was feeling about keeping the baby. I loved how it turned out.

This is an Amish Fiction, and this is the 11th book in the Wells Landing series. I really did not love the Charlotte character. I also did not love the writing style in this book. I found myself not wanting to keep reading this book, and I really found this book boring most the time while reading this book. I have to say I did love how Charlotte took care of the baby. I love seeing foster care from the eyes of the Amish. There was some really good things in this book, but it was just not the book for me. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Kensington Books) or author (Amy Lillard) via NetGalley, so I can give honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

I got so frustrated with Charlotte. I wanted to yell at her. That shows how good the book was. The characters were so real to me. Charlotte was convinced that she was supposed to marry Glenn. Is he the one meant for her? Or it is someone else? Paul is a good friend but could he be more? Read A new love for Charlotte to find out. I really want to read more about Charlotte and her family.

I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author. This book review is my own opinion.

A Real Winner

Charlotte is a widow who lives with her mother-in-law, Nadine. Charlotte has been having difficulty adjusting to various changes in her life. Her daughter’s recent marriage and Nadine’s possible upcoming marriage have Charlotte feeling sad as she faces the prospect of being alone. She is saddened even more when she receives information about further changes that she will have to face. Charlotte continues to struggle with these situations while opening her heart to finding love.

Just when things seem to be moving along for Charlotte, she receives a very unexpected surprise. A baby is left at her doorstep. The arrival of the baby is a game changer that results in Charlotte having to do some deep digging into her new found love, her faith and God’s will.

I found this story to be extremely heartwarming. Its messages of love, trust, faith, and hope tugged at my heartstrings and completely pulled me in. Any story that can do that is a real winner in my book (no pun intended), and that’s exactly what A New Love for Charlotte is, a real winner.

A New Love for Charlotte is one of my favorite books so far this year and definitely my favorite by author Amy Lillard, at least out of the ones that I have read so far. I absolutely adored Charlotte and little Amber, a two month old placed on her doorstep on the Fourth of July with a note for her to raise the baby. Charlotte is ecstatic, feeling like God has given her a second chance at motherhood so late in life. Her mother-in-law Nadine is a little less sure though, wondering if Charlotte is setting herself up for heartache. Add in a disgruntled fiancé who does not want to raise another child and a neighbor who is secretly in love with Charlotte and you have some great moments. And the messages were clear in the story: trust, hope, and faith, all essential to life and love.
Five stars! I hope there are more to come about this sweet family! Thanks to #NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this story. All opinions are my own. #Bookstagram #all_the_pages

I enjoyed traveling back to Wells Landing with all the familiar characters. Amy did a great job with her storyline and weaving in everyday emotions and situations that people deal with daily...trusting in God, patience, decision making and faith. The story started out slow for me, but took off all at once to where I could not put the book down and wanted to see what happened next. I was not disappointed.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher for my review and honest opinion.

I loved this newest book in the “Wells Landing” series by Amy Lillard. Charlotte’s experienced quite a bit of change in the last few months. Her only daughter has married; her mother-in-law is ready to announce her engagement; and Charlotte herself is going through a health challenge. She feels empty, unsettled, and dreads living alone. However, the minute she meets handsome Glen Esh at church, she just knows she’s supposed to marry him. That marriage will come at great cost to Charlotte—if she marries Glen, she’ll lose her close friendship with Paul Brenneman. And on top of all of this, a baby is left on her doorstep. Charlotte’s determined to carve her own path to happiness. But could it be that God has a different path for her to follow?

I loved reading Charlotte’s story and watching her learn that dependence on God was the best decision she could make. She has a forthright and sometimes prickly personality, but she had a deep compassion for her family. Her care and devotion for the baby that was left on her doorstep was heart-touching. Paul Brenneman was an all-around good guy, and I couldn’t help but hope that Charlotte would see her future with Paul. This is another good book in the series, and I’m hoping to read more from these characters.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Winner, Winner, Winner!!! If you can't tell, I loved this book!! This is the first time, I believe, that I have read a novel, in the Amish genre, that takes on foster care, within the English system. This is the 3rd novel, by Amy Lillard, that is centered around the Burkhart family. Although, not necessary, I would recommend reading these three novels, in sequence, in order to better understand the relationships that have occurred, in the past stories.

Charlotte Burkhart, is one of three woman, in this family. She lost her husband 7 years ago and lives with her husband's mother, Nadine. Charlotte has an adult daughter, Jenna, that had an accident, as a child, that caused her brain to be oxygen deprived resulting in a change her daughter's mental capabilities. Life is ever changing and Jenna has married and left the nest. Now, Nadine is engaged and will be leaving the home. Charlotte becomes anxious about being alone and decides that a man she sees at church, Glenn Esh, will be her next husband and she sets her hat on doing whatever is necessary to have that happen.

BUT, and you know there is always a "but"!!! Life has more changes for Charlotte......some leaves a baby on her front porch!! Little baby Amber seems like the answer to Charlotte's prayers. However, this event comes with it's own set of trials, tribulations, and fears.

Paul Brenneman, who is Charlotte's neighbor, is a frequent visitor and always free to lend a hand. And as Paul soon realizes, his heart has become entwined with Charlotte, but without her knowing of his feelings.

This is a WONDERFUL story of trying to understand and live with God's plans for us. Trying to let His plan work without trying to make it our plan. You will enjoy the twists and turns of all the relationships and seeing which will take and which will go. All the while, with little Amber holding Charlotte's heart, in her little hands.

So, take a warm cover, a nice glass, of your beverage of choice, a quiet corner and enjoy this horse and buggy ride through Wells Landing and Charlotte's journey to find her place, in this world.,

A New Love for Charlotte by Amy Lillard is the 11th A Wells Landing Romance and the third novel revolving around The Burkhart family (Loving Jenna and Romancing Nadine are the other two). A New Love for Charlotte can be read as a standalone for those new to the series. I thought the book was well-written with complex characters. Charlotte Burkhart is feeling adrift with her daughter married and her mother-in-law to soon be wed. She is also feeling out of sorts and snapping at people for no reason. When Charlotte sees Glenn Esh at church, she feels that God has answered her prayers. Charlotte is a strong, stubborn woman who has a strong faith. She is also a caring woman who thought her daughter would always be with her because of the brain injury she suffered. You can tell how much she loves Jenna (her daughter) and cares for Nadine, her mother-in-law. Nadine and Charlotte have a unique relationship. They are there for each other in times of need and I enjoy their banter. I could feel Charlotte’s emotions (pain, frustration, sadness as well as joy). Paul Brenneman is a kind, thoughtful man. He is patient and is a good friend to Charlotte. There is humor scattered throughout the story that had me grinning and sometimes laughing. I thought it was great that the friends got together each week for puzzle night. They certainly had a unique way of working puzzles. I liked that we got to catch up with the characters from the other books in the series. The ending was warm and a good wrap up. I enjoyed reading this sweet, heartwarming Amish tale. I look forward to Amy Lillard’s next uplifting tale. A New Love for Charlotte is a heartening story with a peppy pooch, a fancy Amish man, an abandoned baby, a selfless friend, perplexing puzzles, and an abundance of baked goods.

Amy Lillard has written another winner. A New Love for Charlotte is a beautifully written Amish romance. Loved the plot and characters.

This is the eleventh book in the Wells Landing series. It focuses on Charlotte Burkhart, a widow and mother of Jenna. We met Jenna in Book Nine. Charlotte was extremely overprotective of her because she has a brain injury. Charlotte feels lonely because her daughter is married and her mother in law, Nadine has a boyfriend. Charlotte is looking to date and remarry. She is determined to marry Glenn Esh, a newcomer to their town. However, she is also friends with her widowed neighbor, Amos Fisher. At the beginning, I didn’t find Charlotte to be a likable character. As the story went on, I grew to like her, flaws and all. I enjoyed this book!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Zebra through NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

This series seems to get better with each book. I love this writer and the characters that she creates. I love that the characters in this book are older men and women finding love for a second time. Charlotte and Paul are fantastic together. They want to help each other in many ways. This author handles how people learn bad news very well. I laughed and cried. I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.
