Why, in the year 2021, is a major publisher like Kensington putting out a book with MULTIPLE instances of a racial slur in it for no good reason? The G word (g*psy) isn’t a word you should be using unless you are of Romani origin, same as you should not be using the N word unless you are Black, and the G word is used many, many times in this book with not a Romani in sight. Full context; the characters attend a house party at which they are informed a game called a ‘g*psy hunt’ will be played. No further details are forthcoming initially and the hero and heroine get to virtue signal by saying if it’s actually a hunt of Romani people, they would put a stop to it. The game turns out to be a simple treasure hunt, with the G word being used for it for… well, no real reason I could actually discern.

It is not difficult to stop using words which are slurs. It should REALLY not be difficult for a major publisher like Kensington to have a list of words which you just MAY NOT USE and for their editors to run searches on those words.

In the year 2021, this is quite simply unacceptable.

I was already hating the book before I ran across the G slur, by the way. It’s the lowest stakes imaginable - the heroine turns down the hero’s proposal at the beginning of the book because he doesn’t love her. Instead of doing the honourable thing and letting her go to find someone who DOES love her, he decides to pursue her and convince her to marry him anyway, because his wishes outweigh her happiness, I guess? Anyway, after an extremely feeble threat to the heroine’s safety, from which she competently rescues herself, the hero realises he does love her after all, blah blah, happily ever after.

How this drags on for over 300 pages is beyond me. It’s one of the dullest books I’ve ever waded through, and I’ve read The Shell Seekers by Rosamund Pilcher. Losing my temper over finding the G slur repeated in the middle of it is about the only thing that kept me awake enough to read to the end, so that I can write this critique with a full and complete knowledge of the whole book.

It’s terrible. Don’t waste your time.

This is the third book I’ve read by this author; the first, The Marquis She’s Been Waiting For, I gave two stars because I found it boring and low-stakes. I figured I’d give her another try and the second book of hers I read, Believe In Me, I actually liked and gave four stars to. But this. After this, I’m done. This gets one star, and I’m spitting mad that a major publisher is putting their name on this rubbish.

This is a quick and enjoyable read with fun characters and witty dialogue. It’s clear Gavin and Georgie, are in love with each other, but Gavon’s still conflicted... As they get to know each other, they realize how well-suited they are, but doubts and fears threaten their HEA.
Overall, this is a sweet love story. However, parts are a bit slow, and I wish that some of the characters were more fully developed. I think readers who enjoy historical love stories will enjoy this book.

Let me begin by saying that this was a very well written story. And I enjoyed being able to reconnect with some of the characters from her prior novels. The problem I had with this was the fact that not only were there A LOT of prior characters making a comeback (even when they didn't seem to add much to the overall plot), but I never really bought that Gavin changed his mind about loving Georgie.

I felt this way in part, because even the scene that seemed designed to bring them together, for me at least, fell utterly flat. Which was disappointing because I think had a few things been executed differently, there was the potential for that scene to have a much greater impact on the story. I also feel like showing right off the bat that any other potential suitors at the party were quickly taken out of play, took away some of the angst and drama that this story could have had.

Speaking just to Gavin and Georgie, I wish we could have seen more of their interactions. I feel like the spent a lot of time either thinking about what they wanted, or talking to other people about what they wanted than actually talking to each other. I also found it a bit off that Gavin had courted Georgie for so long, yet didn't seem to understand that he felt he couldn't afford to fall in love. That seems like a big thing that would have come up before his botched proposal.

In the end, I believe that this story will still appeal to those who enjoy slow burn historical romances (especially ones with as much detail as this one had). I would read more from this author!

DISCLAIMER: I received a complimentary copy of this novel from the publisher. This has not affected my review in any way. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are 100% my own.

This was a great and lighthearted story with a ‘sweet’ romance.

Gavin and Georgie have been courting for over a season and she is expecting him to propose. When he does propose, he fails to mention that he loves her and doesn’t respond when she asks him if he does. Georgie declines the marriage proposal but is not yet willing to give up on Gavin. She plots with her friends and grandmother to try to win Gavins heart.

Gavin believes he can’t love a wife because of what happened to his father when his mother died. His friends can see that he is in love with Georgie and try and help him see what he can’t.

A trip to the country and spending time with each other help them to get to know each other but only when Georgie’s life is at risk does Gavin finally realise he has loved her all along.

I enjoyed this and will definitely read more in this series and by this author.

This was a good book but at times it was confusing. I liked the characters of Georgie and Gavin. Georgie knows she won't marry without love. When Gavin proposes, he never mentions love,so she turns him down.
Gavin doesn't understand why Georgie cant marry him. He listed all the reasons why it was a good match.
So everyone decides to help get Georgie and Gavin get back together. And here is where the story becomes a little confusing. There are so many characters introduced that it was hard to keep everyone straight. I found myself stopping and looking back to see who this person was. There was 3 or 4 of her friends, 2 or 3 of his, mothers, grandmothers, brothers, neighbors and guests at the house party.
Too many people, too many opinions detracting from the main story.
Its still a very good story.

Miss Georgie Featherton has fallen in love with Viscount Gavin Turley, but when he asks her to marry him he recites all the reasons why he never mentioned love. Heartbroken she turns him down and now Gavin is set on winning her back. An enchanting story of a hero learning the meaning of love somethi9ng his heart already knows he just doesn’t realize it yet, but will Georgie give him a second chance or find someone new? I have voluntarily read and reviewed the excellent story.

For Fans of Julia Quinn and Eloisa James.

This book, which I did not realize was part of a series, was fun a light. The historical romance genre is so exciting now with bridgerton and having finished all of those books and the series, this was a great alternative and new author to start.

Georgie is a smart and interesting heroine who wants to make sure she marries in a love match but her beau does not believe in love matches and finds the idea of love frivolous. Their journey together is sweet and funny, especially with the help of their grandmothers and their friends. I was really rooting for them.

This did not dissapoint

I really enjoyed The Most Eligible Viscount in London. This is book #2 in The Lords of London series and my first Ella Quinn novel. I didn't feel like I missed anything and the story was easy to follow. The characters were fun and I will definitely read more from E.Q. in the future!

Featherton House - London 1818

Miss Georgiana (Georgie) Featherton is being proposed to by Gavin, Viscount Turley. She has been so hoping that he will propose, but it turns out to be dry and he doesn’t even express his love for her. Disappointed and hurt, she turns him down.

Her grandmother and all of her crony friends decide that Georgie should leave London and stay with a friend of hers. At the same time, grandmother, et al, begin their campaign to get Gavin in line and, hopefully, save the couple. Gavin is upset at Georgie’s refusal and doesn’t know how to get her to marry him. Thus, we see scheming to get them back together. The problem is that Gavin doesn’t know what love is, so he must be taught.

Under the watchful eyes of family and friends, Georgie and Gavin spend time together at various events and their relationship seems to improve. Can they find a way for them to open up to one another and for Gavin to learn what love is and express himself to Georgie?

There are a lot of characters in this book that don’t appear to be necessary for the story. However, I think that the author usually adds an abundance of characters to her books. In addition, there seems to be more dialogue than necessary which can lead to boredom when reading a book. On the up side, I did enjoy reading about some of the German food and other additions the author added to the book. I believe she lived in Germany for a time and I appreciate her sharing some of this. The story itself is just bland and did not really grab me.

I absolutely loved this story about a couple who loved each other yet the male main character couldn't seem to realize that fact even when proposing. The story is engaging and amusing. #netgalley #themosteligibleviscountinlondon

This was an entertaining, well-written book. Georgie and Gavin have been courting, and she is thrilled when he proposes. Until she hears him discussing his credentials as a husband with no passion or expression of emotions. She refuses to marry without love. He refuses to risk his heart. This was a sweet, charming story, though there was more description of thoughts and points of view than action and the book moved a little more slowly than I would have preferred. I did enjoy this book and look forward to reading more books by this author.

When the proposal Georgie has been waiting for mentions everything but love, she turns it down. Gavin is left not knowing how to change her mind when he is afraid of falling in love. The problem might not be that Gavin won’t fall in love, but that he’s already there and doesn’t know it. Will a trip to the country and a group of grandmotherly advisors help these two work through this problem? This is an entertaining story with likeable characters. A nice read.

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.

Loved the characters. Georgie is one strong compassionate loving woman. Truley is one stubborn man. Could not wait to see how everything would work out. Loved that everyone but Truley and Georgie could tell how he felt about Georgie.

Viscount Gavin Turley has been courting Miss Georgie Featherton for months . He’s passionate about her, in fact. But words of love are not an indulgence he will allow himself. When he presents Georgie with his marriage proposal, he will lead with his head—not his heart. His qualifications as a husband are excellent, after all. No sooner does Gavin kneel on one knee than Georgie’s heart goes aflutter with joy. Finally, the proposal she longed for had arrived. Yet Gavin seemed to be listing his credentials for a business partnership, not a romantic union. Without a declaration of love, Georgie can only reject his offer—unless the ladies of the ton, and Georgie’s grandmamma, have anything to do with it.
This is the second book in the series & whilst it could be read on it’s own it is connected to the previous book & also other series by the author. I loved both Gavin & Georgie, he had been determined never to fall in love as his father was a changed man once he lost his wife, Georgie wanted a love match. Throw in elderly matchmaking female relatives & it’s a recipe for an entertaining read. This was a very slow burn romance in fact it wasn't until after three quarters of the way through that they managed to kiss everything was against them from the weather to fish. This isn’t my favourite book by the author & it was slow in pace but it was still an entertaining read
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

I was trying to decide what troup this book was and I decided on second chances. The concept of this book was very clever and it was extremely detailed with out being boring. I enjoyed myself immensely. The Most Eligible Viscount in London by Ella Quinn is about Georgie and Gavin. Georgie will only except a love match. so when Gavin proposes he leaves out the love aspect. And Georgie has no choice but to refuse him. From then on we have matchmaking Dowagers, planning and plotting from just about every one in the story. It’s a sweet and humorous tale. #netgalley.

The Most Eligible Viscount in London is Gavin Turley. At the beginning of this novel, Gavin botches his proposal to Miss Georgie Featherton. Georgie wants to wed Gavin, but she also longs to hear grand declarations of love. Those were missing from Gavin's laundry list of reasons they should be married. Jilted, Gavin is sad. Georgie leaves town. Gavin follows with his tail between his legs.

This book falls to the too often used hero trap of, "I've seen how love hurts and I will never love." What this book doesn't do is make me feel the love grow between Georgie and Gavin as the story progresses.

There were too many scheming relatives; too many characters (assuming many of them have their own stories in this author's interconnected world). Very little time spent with G and G together, and their chemistry just wasn't there.

The story, as a whole, was bland. There was too much talking that went round and round and didn't move the plot around. Too many descriptions of the colors and decor of the rooms the characters were sitting and chatting in. Too many abrupt scene changes.

I had hopes of really liking this book. I wanted to read an epic journey and major declarations of love, but it was mediocre at best.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book. The thoughts and opinions are my own and freely given.

When Gavin, Viscount Turley, gave his extended version of a proposal to Georgiana Featherton, she had her own question before giving him her answer. Unfortunately, Gavin gave the wrong answer. Soon family and friends are in a campaign to convince Gavin he's in love with Georgie. With his own determination to win her hand, he has to succeed. A laugh out loud courtship with interference on many sides and more chaperones than really needed. Will this couple ever have a chance for a kiss? Miss Georgiana Featherton is in love with Gavin, Viscount Turley. Turley wants to marry Georgiana, unfortunately he doesn’t believe in love and Georgiana will only marry for love. Turley did have his reasons for his way of thinking. Georgiana is quite a determined lady and she has good friends to help her. Also in the mix are a set of matchmaking elderly friends and relatives. I did smile at their questioning of Turley. I did wonder how long it would take Turley to come to realise his true feelings. This was an entertaining and easy to read story. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own,

Well that was pretty boring really. Having read book one in this series (& enjoyed it) i was hoping for so much more from this book, but I was so bored. The premise was interesting but wasn’t executed well. There needed to be more grovelling or another love interest or something to add some spice to the plot.

It was a bleh from me.

Can he say the words?

Gavin courted Georgie for a generous amount of time and propose he did.
Only, he blew the proposal. He listed why they would be compatible with logic. When Georgie asked him if he loved her, he could not say so. So, when we meet Gavin and Georgie, their match seems likes its at its end. But its just the beginning.

Gavin is intent on all sorts of bargaining, because he does want Georgie, he just is adamant about not loving her.
I liked that Georgie asked him and refused him and made him work for it.

Recommend.
