All of Ella Quinn's books are set in the same world around the same time and the future MCs are introduced early while old friends pop back in. I did not discover her until The Worthingtons and never went back to read her first 9 book series. I was so excited to receive this from Netgalley that I quickly picked up and read the first book of this series, and I'm glad I did as this one picks up where it left off. I do recommend reading it first, though this could be read as a standalone.

Not a lot happens. There is a little angst but not too much. The author doesn't rely on standard tropes. The story just flows comfortably along. There is an entire cast of characters and a secondary romance. I enjoyed the development of the H/h relationship. Georgie was a smart and very likable heroine. She made wise decisions with both her heart and her head. Gavin was alright. He was a good man who was a product of his childhood. There were also some fun scenes with matchmaking grandmothers, Dowagers, and mothers.

If you enjoy this style of easy going story with a group of friends and a little adventure and wit, I think you will find this to be a satisfactory sequel. I will definitely finish out the trilogy once it is available.

Georgie has had her heart set on marrying he dashing Lord Turley since they met during the London season. She is ecstatic when he proposes to her! Unfortunately, his proposal is presented as more like a business meeting and without the one thing that Georgie wants, love. When Georgie turns down Lord Turley's truly terrible proposal and heads to the country to visit her friends (Adeline and Frits from The Most Eligible Lord in London), she hopes that Turley will follow her. With the help of schemind Dowagers and his best friend's wife, Lord Turley must convince Georgie that they are a good match before it's too late, but can he give her the love she truly wants in a marriage?

I was very happy with this book. In all honesty I did not care for The Most Eligible Lord in London because of a ridiculous love triangle. I was really afraid this book was going to follow into that same plot point. I enjoyed Georgie and Turley's relationship and really liked how he put his pride aside to fight for the woman he wanted to marry. The Dowager's are hilarious as the greatest matchmakers of the ton.

This book really redeemed this Lords of London series for me and I will happily read another book in this series.

It took me a while to finish this book. It just did not capture my attention. This seemed like my kind of book, however, I would just get distracted by something else and move on. Honestly, I didn't feel it between Gavin and Georgie. To me, there was just no spark.

Viscount Gavin Turley believes he has chosen the perfect wife--Miss Georgie Featherton, but when he proposes, she turns him down because he can't say he loves her. He's shocked at her refusal. Georgie has wanted Gavin to propose for months now, but when he can't say the words she longs for, she has no choice but to turn him down. She longs for a love match and he has stated he can't love her. Both are shocked, but can they come to terms with their own desires and dreams?

I usually love Ms. Quinn's books, but this one was so slow and boring. The main problem Gavin and Georgie face is in the first chapter and from there, it is endless internal angst between the two of them. This went on for 2/3 of the book. I skipped ahead to chapter 26 where some action finally takes place. There was no more action after that and the rest of the book is about when the wedding can take place and who will plan it. Even though this book was a disappointment, I do enjoy Ms. Quinn's stories and look forward to her next book.

The idea wasn't bad it just seemed to take so long in the delivering. Gavin proposes to Georgie. She believes he is in love with her but after the business like proposal he shies at the 'Do you love me' fence and is refused. The rest of the book is about him trying to win her back. There's three dowagers and at least three other couples mentioned. It's written as though I should know these people which as this is book 2 of the series and I.ve read book 1 shows that these other folk must be linked with other series.
There are some amusing momemts but on the whole I wasn't convinced.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Georgina is in love with Gavin, Viscount Turley but refuses his proposal of marriage because he doesn't return her feelings. Gavin doesn't want to be in love because of the trauma his father went through when his mother died. He does, however, desperately want to marry Georgie. So he needs to try to convince her somehow to marry him without demanding his love. It's obvious to everyone (except Gavin) that he loves Georgie, so he's given a second chance to convince her he's right for her, when they both attend a house party in the country. It's an enjoyable read although rather thin on plot. The story could have been told in a considerably shorter book, without missing anything. The interactions between the various characters and the general atmosphere of the house party provide all the action. It does make for a nice visit to a different locale for a light romance.

I thought this book was pretty good. I thought the story moved quickly. The romance elements were solid. I really like the cover which is what drew me to the book in the first place.

I recently re-read When a Marquis Chooses a Bride by Ella Quinn, the first historical romance I'd ever read - long before Bridgerton showed up on Netflix. It sent me down a rabbit hole of historical romances and now it is one of my favorite genres, all thanks to Ella Quinn.

When I saw this story come up on NetGalley I knew I had to read it. I love that this author includes the political side of things in her stories. She shows that these characters are not just rich people with very little to care about. They have a political responsibility as they are peers. I can't think of many other historical romances that include that.

The author also includes probably a more accurate betrayal of how courtships took place in the regency era. I found this fascinating. Men couldn't just send a letter to a woman. They had to send it through the guardian first. Also men couldn't ride in closed tops carriages with women either. We take this for granted in other historical romances we read. This is the liberty that all authors take when telling a story.

Regardless of that, I found this story to be slow and a little boring. It starts off with Gavin proposing and Georgie declining. It seemed like such a promising premise, Gavin trying to win Georgie back with (hopefully) a bit of seduction and passion thrown in. However, apart from the first few pages Georgie and Gavin don't speak to each other until a quarter of way into the story. At that the story could have been wrapped up very quickly if it weren't for the author trying to pave the way for a third book. Don't get me wrong, I like seeing recurring characters through a series of books but I'd prefer for the story to be focused on the current main characters instead of a set up for another book.

I haven't read the previous book in this series and it probably would have been a good idea to read it first before reading this. I'm assuming that Gavin and Georgie's story started there. Perhaps I would have rooted for these characters more if I had started there.

I am a Ella Quinn fan and a Historical Romance fan however this was just not one of my favorite of hers. I found the books to be too slow and the characters to just be lacking. I also found myself to stopping repeatedly and having to start over which I hate because it shows me that I simply do not care that much, I made myself finish since I had committed myself which in turn made me sad since as I mentioned I am a fan and I know this is in know form indicative of her work, but would I recommend it, not necessarily, unless there is nothing better.

Miss Georgiana Featherton and Gavin, Viscount Turley have been courting. She has been expecting a proposal of marriage but he gave his qualifications for being a husband. All she really needed was he loved her. He could not give it. His father, when his mother died, went strange and started making bad decisions. He refused to love, he did not want to be like his father. She refused him. He was shocked but decided he would keep trying. She left the city and went to the country, to Adeline and Frits. She loved him but he did not love her. She could only marry for love.
It was interesting reading about everyone trying to help and Georgie and Gavin at a sort of stalemate.
It was well written, entertaining, and fun. The characters were sweet and what some of them went thru amazing. I truly enjoyed this tale. It wasn't action-packed but you were invested in seeing them get engaged and were optimistic for them. Gavin couldn't say he loved her but that was what she needed and he did not want to lie to her, not a good start to a marriage. There had to be a solution.
I received this ARC from Net Galley and voluntarily reviewed it.

I enjoyed this story with its unique plot. I really liked both main characters and was cheering for them. I didn't like how the author kept referring to other people (who presumably are in her other books) because there were so many of them I couldn't keep up. That made some of my reading frustrating.

Love does not always bloom during the london season… for our two heroes two, falling in love involves having delightful horse rides in the countryside, discovering each other minds and spirits, bonding over breakfast food and sharing passionate moments in a follie…

Ella Quinn wrote a delightful romance set in the countryside during a quiet season and took advantage of that scenery to paint an exquisite scenic setting for our romance heroes to fall in love. The various castles and mansions descriptions fill you with dreams of Forde Abbey House and Chatsworth… You suddenly crave some kissing and love making in a follie, feel the urge to browse all the V&A dresses for that perfect horse riding outfit and enjoy the smell of nature during the october months…

In this seducing world, Georgie and Gavin chase each other and play the game of guessing if the other one is indeed truly in love. If the two characters appear very young and spontaneous sometimes, the idea of their romance is really more mature. It’s not often that the love at first sight trope is challenged in historical romances but it feels refreshing to have a heroine helds her high standard and requires true and profond love, enticing Gavin to truly talk to her, be curious and learn who she is and not who she seems to be after only a few dances and nights at the opera…

To conquer Georgie, Gavin requires the help of aunties and grandmothers! Those ladies were so delightful and their role in plotting two romance stories added a funny comedic side to the story. It also brought back fond memories of the theater plays written by Marivaux as i do love a romance themed with games and battles analogies.

" “This is not a battle.”

“No, my dear friend, it is a war.” Henrietta raised her chin. “One which you, with a bit of help from your friends and family, will win.”

Georgie had never thought of waging a war against Lord Turley, but the analogy was apt. There were times when one had to fight for what one wanted in life. And she did want this love and a chance to be his wife".

Two little things bothered me. The first one was the sudden drama that happened to set things in motion towards the end. Something was needed for Gavin to realize his feelings and puts aside his fears but the event was a bit too forced for my taste. The second and true regret was the lack of development of the side romance story of Aurelia and Marc (i really wanted to see what they were talking about and their first kiss)… Lord Lytton’s character did not always feel the best it could have been and those romantic scenes between him and Aurelia would have helped to give some depth to the character. Or it might simply be that i did not read the previous book and lacked some context on his story. Or it could also be a simple case of falling for a villain romance hero growing into a sweet one…

The story also raised my curiosity about Adeline and Frits, who were the most adorable extremely married couple and official chaperones (or should i say commanders of the love battlefield) and i simply want their romance for myself!

This was my first time reading Ella Quinn and i am eager to discover more of her romances! I honestly am so heart eyes for the covers of her books and this one was gorgeous (although the title was a bit off...)

In all honesty, i can’t conclude this review without mentioning the issue of introducing a cat and for him to be massively underused (why) and it felt even more wrong when he is named Sebastian (!!!)

Georgie is looking for a love match. Gavin the man she loves believes he doesn’t want to love his wife. Can the old girls and Georgie change his mind? A sweet romance.

** I received this as an E-ARC from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review, Thank you!**

I'm sad to say I did not enjoy this book. I just felt very bored while reading. The book opens with Georgie turning down a marriage offer. Gavin the love interest is upset about it and the entire time I'm asking myself " but why is he upset, Why does he want to marry her". It was just very slow, I didn't feel any chemistry between the love interests. Overall it just fell very flat for me and I'm disappointed about it.

This book was hard to read. It didn't keep my attention. I found both of the main characters to be silly and one dimensional.

This was poorly done. I just couldn’t believe that there was this whole, large group of people who believed so strongly that couples should marry only when they truly love each other in aristocratic Regency England. And then this group which includes various relatives are all willing to plot together to convince one clueless viscount that he truly loves the woman he so ineptly asked to marry him at the beginning of the book. We don’t see why they fell for each other or why they truly love each other. That’s just presented as fact and then we engage in a lot of silliness that never rang true.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

I'm glad that Georgie waited until Gavin knew for sure how he felt and what he wanted. It kind of felt like Gavin was courting Georgie throughout the book. I enjoyed it very much.

She only wants to marry for love and he will not hear of it. His father went crazy after loosing the love of his life. Gavin doesn't want to meet the same fate. He finds Georgia and knows she is the one for him. He proposes and tells her how things will be in their life. She puts him in the spot and asks if he loves her. His non answer seals the deal. She must find another. He is determined to convince her to marry him.

⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

A novel with great attention to detail and a sweet story, just not my favorite in all the books I have read of this author.

The premise of the plot was fresh and unusual. The marriage proposal occurs on the first page of the book, it is rejected and mayhem ensues. Usually the proposal happens at the conclusion of the book following a long courtship. This book flipped that around and it made the plot interesting. Although the plot was sweet and well written, there were at times a simplicity to it. I felt it could of had more twists and turns to liven up the plot.

I liked Georgie and Gavin. Gavin had a dark past he had to overcome. His past was explained in good detail, but at times I wanted more angst out of him. Georgie just wanted love from Gavin. She fought hard. I liked that Georgie was written with such intelligence. She wasn’t a perfect, simple minded debutante. However I just wasn’t as invested in Georgie as I was in Gavin.

The secondary characters were rich and well developed. From the meddling, match making dowagers to a rival for Georgie’s attention, they were exciting and engaging.

Sometimes in the book I felt I knew where the plot was going. I felt there could of been more obstacles for the couple to overcome. The plot was well written and I became invested in the characters. It moved at a good pace, not too slow.

I have mixed emotions about this book. I am conflicted because it didn’t reach the pinnacle of some of the previous works to which I gave excellent ratings. I am looking for more humor and intrigue. I will be reading the next installment and for those who enjoyed the previous series I would advise them to read this book to see where it goes next.

I received an ARC of this book through Netgalley and Kensington Books, this is my honest, voluntary review.

Georgie is a very patient heroine. She waits months for Gavin to finally propose only to have him not admit that he loves her. She wants a love match, so she refuses him. Gavin desperately goes about trying to convince her that he can and does love her. I think the storyline could have moved a bit faster. I received an ARC from NetGalley and Kensington Books for my honest review.
