I received a digital ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Altogether, I enjoyed this book. The art is great, it's very colorful and eye-catching, and it explains the main concepts of animal colors and adaptations well. It explains why animals have the colors, patterns, and textures they do and how it helps them survive in their environments.

The only critique I have is that I sometimes feel the art style doesn't always portray an accurate representation of what the animals actually look like. Maybe a photograph in each color of one of the animals would make it make more sense? I would have liked to see some real examples to have a better reference for the colors, especially ones like iridescent.

What a fab way to learn about creatures through their colors! The art is stunning and the factoids are fascinating. Zebras’ stripes repel flies. Iguanas turn orange for love. Psychedelic mandarin fish stink and slime (oh my!) While geared to young children, this great guide will thrill adults too. I loved it!

Thanks to the author, Quarto Publishing Group – Wide Eyed Editions, and NetGalley for the ARC. Opinions are mine.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an electronic copy to read and review.

Having an electronic copy of this book just does not do it justice. I can't wait to see the physical copy - so many illustrations, colour, and facts - it is definitely a book to sit and spend time with. It is a true kaleidoscope of colours, each colour exemplified by various insects, animals, and creatures from the world over. This is a perfect book for kids who love organization, colours, and living things. It is also good for adults who may not even be aware of some of these animals - such as the red-lipped batfish - excuse me while I now go down a virtual rabbit hole of googling some of these creatures!

As the title promises, the book serves up a veritable kaleidoscope of creatures within its pages. All the animals have been grouped by their colours and their skin characteristics. This makes for a varied reading every page unlike typical animal books that group animals the traditional way such as by species or habitat. The coloured page background makes the animal hues even more vivid. The trivia accompanying the pics is also quite interesting. This book will be a very interesting addition to the libraries of the children who love animals and want to know more about them in a very unique way.

This is a cool encyclopedic guide to animals grouped by color and patterns. There's a bunch of information, so it's a good book to grow with and very engaging to learn animals and colors.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Wide Eyed Editions for the advance copy.

A beautiful reference for children about the kaleidoscope of colors found in nature, particularly in animals. The focus of this book is on the appearance of animals, from the rainbow of colors they can come in to the benefits of having these appearances. Though the illustrations were good, I didn't love the vintage style as it made the colors seems a little less vibrant than they may be in real life. Overall, a fascinating zoological reference for children!

Thank you Quarto Publishing Group – Wide Eyed Editions and NetGalley for providing this ARC.
