I would really like to start increasing the plant-based dishes in my diet and have found several recipes that I incorporate regularly. However, just like everyone else, I have flavor and texture preferences. Unfortunately, based on those preferences and my dietary needs, this book and I are not going to be best friends.

There are a lot of burgers in this book. If you enjoy burgers and want to try a vegetarian version, there is probably one here to suit your taste. Although I can enjoy a burger occasionally, I don’t eat them frequently enough to need to find a substitute. I could happily live burger-free, so this section seemed overly long to me.

A couple of the recipes that look interesting to me are fried. Unfortunately, part of my reason for wanting to reduce meat in my diet is to be healthier and frying my food will not do that. I would consider trying the recipes in an air fryer if I owned one.

There are quite a few recipes I’d be interested in in the Sauces, Dips, Bits, and Buns section that look good. Some of them are available to purchase and I don’t often see the need to make things (such as sauces and dressings) that I can get pre-made. I was still able to find a few I’d try out on my own.

Recipes I’d be interested in trying:

Banana Walnut Baked Oatmeal
Cherry Oatmeal Protein-Packed Energy Burger
Easy Black Bean Soup
Creamy Tomato Soup with Orzo
Tuscan White Bean Soup
Basic Black Bean BBQ Burger
South by Southwest Burger
Black Bean and Zucchini Enchiladas
Baked Sweet Potato Fries
Green Bean Fries
Garlic Rosemary Fries
Sun-Dried Tomato Aioli
Garlic Artichoke Spread
Avocado Green Goddess Dressing
Cheesy Biscuits

I seem to have been most interested in the soups, fries, and spreads/dressings. They looked really good to me and I will definitely try out at least a couple of those. I do wish there were more photos of the dishes included, but I enjoyed the comments and notes included with each recipe.

Although I was not personally blown away by the options in this cookbook, I can see how others with different flavor preferences would love it. If you are interested in adding more vegetarian dishes to your diet or if you’re just looking for an healthier burger option, I would recommend giving it a look.

Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book. No nutritional information which is a big minus for me, especially in a healthier cookbook. I did like that most of the ingredients are fairly common and in my pantry. We really enjoyed the creamy tomato soup with orzo, the Thai sweet potato curry and black bean and zucchini enchiladas. Lookjng forward to making some of the breakfast bowls.

Whose idea was it to read a book full of delicious recipes when I haven’t eaten in 8 hours and have been doing manual labor for half of my work shift? Mine? Oh yeah. Oops. This book is packed with meat-free recipes that will make your mouth water, whether you’re super hungry or not. Seriously, I can’t wait to try all the recipes in this book.

The layout is divided into the normal sections with easy to follow recipes with ingredients that I could (mostly) identify. If you do a lot of meat-free cooking already, you’re likely to know every ingredient. There’s even an entire burger SECTION! Can’t wait to experiment with those.

I like reading cookbooks just like fiction, especially when I’m tired or stressed out. They are a great bedtime routine, or a good way to pass the time during the last hour of a never ending work shift when no one’s in the building. Also, I’ve been trying to incorporate more vegetarian and vegan meals into my meal prep rotation, so I’m always looking for a new twist on greens, beans, and grains.

I love a hearty soup, and this one is out in February, just in time for that last blast of super cold weather before spring, so be sure to keep an eye out for it at your favorite, local bookstore, or request a copy through your library.

No nonsense vegetarians recipes with easy to follow directions that include baking temps in both Fahrenheit and celsius. The vast majority of ingredients needed for the recipes in this book are things that you already have in your pantry.

Divided into 10 sections: Yummy Breakfasts, Hearty Soups, Satisfying Salads, Loaded handheld snacks, burgers, bountiful bowls, perfect pasts, comforting casseroles, awesome sides, and sauces/dips/bits/buns, this recipe book is sure to have something everyone in your family can enjoy. Most recipes are accompanied with photographs that help you decide which recipe you want to try.

The one downside is that this recipe book does not include nutritional information -- surprising given so many people opt for a meat-free diet for health reasons.

I loved this! I started my personal journey by doing no meat Monday’s about 2 years ago and now my diet is pretty much plant based. Who knew?
So when I grabbed this up I was so excited. Lots of great, simple recipes for people like me, who are always looking for new food choices.
I highly recommend this.
If you just want to ease into no meat options then this is a good place to start.
Thank you Fair Winds Press via Netgalley for this cool recipe book in exchange for my honest review.

This is a fantastic vegetarian cookbook full of recipes I can't wait to try. There is inspiration from a number of different cuisines and ideas for recipes for every meal of the day. There is an entire chapter on burgers to give you different twists on staples, and a number of vegan sauce recipes that look like great alternatives.
Many thanks to Fair Winds Press and NetGalley for the advance copy.

Advance copy received from netgalley/publisher in exchange for my honest review.

As someone that's looking to cut down on my meat consumption, this is an extremely helpful and inspiring cookbook. There's ideas for every meal, from breakfast on and a variety of skill levels as well. Some of the recipes do seem a bit more labor intensive or require ingredients that are harder to find, but in general there's a lot to be gained from this book and I look forward to incorporating the ideas into my weekly meal plans beyond a Meatless Monday. I also loved the variety of flavors found--there's Mexican inspired, Indian inspired, and even McDonald's inspired recipes in here that make eating healthier easy.

I was a bit surprised by how many of the side dishes recommended frying instead of baking as this is described as a healthy cookbook, but I think that can easily be adapted for those that don't want to fry. Aside from that, this is a solid cookbook that will make my meatless meals even easier.

It features healthy, vegetarian takes on traditional American dishes and recipes and ingredients from around the world. It is an all-around cookbook providing recipes from breakfast to dinner to sauces, etc. Beautiful photography accompanies most of the recipes. I strongly recommend this one!

This is the first recipe book I have seen in quite some time that has excited me. Instead of containing a few recipes that I may try, the vast majority of ideas look exciting and achievable. Any cookbook that has a whole chapter on burgers will win me over, and not only are they tasty but healthy too with easily sourced ingredients.
There are recipes from around the world including Mexican and North African cuisine, with interesting and tasty ingredients. The hand held section is my favourite due to my love of falafel and all foods Mexican. I also liked the colourful and clear layout of the book which made it easy to find and follow recipes. A great book for anyone wanting to eat a more healthy and plant based diet.

It’s a great book for anyone looking to move away from eating meat, even if it is just a few meals a week.

A great recipe book packed full of creative meal ideas. As a vegetarian with a dairy allergy, I’m always on the look out for new meals, and this has certainly given me a few ideas. I think many of the meals that included dairy could very easily be altered to use dairy substitutes instead.

I like the way this book is presented. Clean, bright images of well-presented food. Very straight to the point and the recipes themselves aren’t over-long or hard to follow. Tasty looking meals, made simply.

I would say, however it would’ve been great if every recipe had a picture. When making something you’ve never made before, it’s always beneficial to have a picture of what the finished product should look like. Also, I think it would’ve been great if each meal had the average calories listed. (I know it depends entirely on what products and produce you buy, but an approximation would’ve been a cool touch I think.) I know all the food was pretty healthy, but still, just knowing you’re making and eating something that’s minimal calories can be really encouraging to eat more of it.

I’ll definitely be trying a few of these.

Thank you to Netgalley, the publishers, and the authors for sending me an earlier copy.

A great collection of yummy looking and sounding recipes! I wish there were pics of every dish. I felt it is a bit weird that most recipes are accompanied by a beautiful photo, but then a few pages with recipes are just text. Otherwise a good book for anyone interested in meat-free, mostly really healthy food. Almost all recipes are plant based, or can easily be veganized.

I have recipes for the next week from this book to try out. I like that there’s something for every meal of the day as well as different tastes. I will start with the two lentil soup tomorrow. Looks perfect for winter! I appreciate the diversity of foods and styles. None of the recipes seem hard to maneuver. I think this is a good book for both new to rookies, as well as seasoned veterans, when it comes to plant based dishes.

We are meat eaters but I would like to have some easy meat free options to make for the fam. These recipes are easy and the two dressings I tried are delicious. I’m not quite ready to make my own veggie burgers but these look delicious and something my meat eaters would really enjoy. Only giving it 4 stars only bc some of the ingredients may not be easily purchased in store if you live in a rural(er) area.

What a beautiful collection of vegetarian recipes. The burger selection alone is worth the money...a sundried tomato burger? I'm in. The recipes were thoughtfully planned and seem easy to execute. Also, the butternut mac sounds divine!
