Woman Evolve is a retelling of Eve’s story from a position of empowerment. This reimagining reinforces that what happened in the Garden of Eden was part of God’s plan and provision for humankind. Pastor Sarah Jakes Roberts reminds us that passion fuels purpose and no devil in hell can stop God’s purpose for our lives. What are you passionate about? I can almost guarantee you it will be something you want to master or have been given a purpose to correct in this world.

Eve’s passion to correct her seed following her fall fueled her purpose to fulfill the promise God made to her. Eve’s focus on her seed provided her with the grit and grace to move forward despite her mistake.

“Eve eating from the fruit did not change God’s intention- it only changed how he would fulfill that intention” (SJR 8)

When God placed enmity between the woman and her seed he made sure it was a two way street in order to let the serpent know that what happened in the Garden of Eden is just the beginning and not the end. I love this quote from the text:

“I’ve met so many women who became hostile with themselves because of who they are or where they are in life. Hostility [enmity] is not uncommon to the woman’s journey, but that hostility is not being channeled properly. Stop being hostile with your past, body, potential, art and creativity. Take that hostility and start using it to dismantle the narrative of shame, regret, disgust, depression, and disappointment that plagues too many of us. God trusted the woman with hostility. Not so she could beat herself up, but so she could learn to stand up and become hostile with her true opposition” (SJR 70-71).

My takeaway is this: Woman of God, you are not defined by your mistakes. When God has made you a promise he will bring it to completion as long as you keep your focus on your seed. Use your pain to fuel your passion and your passion to birth your purpose. In other words, Woman, Evolve!

This book has blessed me so tremendously. I love every chapter and I could relate to the whole book. I love how she made Eve real like my homegirl. I will reread this book and add a copy to library.

This was an amazing book…OMG! Thinking about issues from this different perspective (perspective of Eve) is so enlightening! How Sara writes is very effective in that she’s in your face but still sweet!!

Get this book!!

I have been blessed by each of Sarah Jakes Roberts books. They have all arrived at pivotal moments in my life. Woman and Evolve was just the nudge I needed to keep moving forward in this season.

I highly recommend this book!

**I was provided a free copy of the book by the publisher for review**

"Our fears pretend to keep us safe. Our faith demands we draw on courage we aren't sure we possess. If fear didn’t feel so comfortable, and faith wasn't so expensive, indecision would vanish, and confidence would emerge."

I have to be honest and say it took me way too long to read this book, but not for the reason you might think. I will preface this review with; I am not a huge follower of Pastor Roberts. I've never sat and watched one of her sermons or attended a conference. My familiarity with her is rooted in social media posts and the occasional short video sent to me by friends. When I was given the book, I read the first two pages and stopped, refusing to pick it up for almost two weeks.

As I look back on it now, I know it was because my spirit knew this would be a painful journey. "Woman Evolve" asks the hard questions, forcing readers to be honest with themselves in uncomfortable ways and can be triggering for some. You have to decide for yourself why you want to read the book. Are you ready for what comes next?

Personally, I needed help seeing deeper into what was stopping me from operating at my highest potential. I was afraid to, but eventually jumped in so that I could answer the hard questions. I kept a journal, making sure I was as honest as possible every time my pen hit the paper because I knew I would need to look back and remind myself that I know I can do this.

This, for me, is quitting my job of over a decade to pursue my own business. I'm grateful to the friend who recommended me to the Launch Team because this book was exactly the push I needed to send in my resignation finally.

I recommend this book to every woman who is ready to step out of what has always been comfortable and step into who God has called her to be.

Pastor Sarah Jakes Roberts had me confronting my real self in stages. I couldn't face me at a go. It was a gradual process of un-layering deep down issues.
Evolving is a process!

This book dug so deep into places that I thought I hid from myself to keep me safe. It helped me realize that even the most minuscule things could be what are holding me back. It helped me forgive myself and erase all the tally marks of mistakes that I made that held me back from entering the pearly gates. It reminded me that there is an ongoing battle between the enemy and that when I meet resistance is when I meet God's purpose. EVERY woman needs to read this. We are evolving beings and this book simply woke me up to this fact.

This is the first book of Roberts that I have read, but I gained a lot of encouragement from it. She shares real world struggles in a way that feels as if she's talking directly to you. A lot of the points she brought up about moving forward with grace for yourself hit home for me.

As a pastor, I have people who often ask me to suggest books that will encourage and direct them towards growth. I think this one fits the bill! I felt I gleaned a lot myself from Roberts honest way of addressing issues and providing support that doesn't leave excuses, but spurs the reader on to choosing better in order to allow change to happen.

"Woman Evolve" would be a great choice for a book club or a small group deep dive. Roberts has resources available soon that would partner with this book. I think she's done a masterful job at addressing a lot of how we face issues in our lives as women, but leaves the reader with the tools needed for real long term progress.

I was an early reader, thanks to Thomas Nelson Publishers. All opinions are my own.

Woman Evolve's content stays true to the title. Sarah goes on to tell the story of Eve in such a way that I have never imagined while intertwining it with her story and giving the reader an opportunity to also be actively involved in the story. Because of how simple, and engaging the language is ,I heard myself reading in SJR's voice. It was the strangest surreal thing.
A must read..It is not a 5 step How to Evolve as a women book yet I found myself doing some really deep inspection of myself and my thoughts. I am evolving just to say the least.

This book is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! This is the first book I honestly can say that I didn’t want to put down. I have found myself in every chapter of this book. After every chapter and every “work it out” assignment, I’ve seen, witnessed, and experienced tremendous growth. I literally felt my inner Eve come alive. Because of this book I know now I’m walking into my life of Mary! Words CAN NOT express how much I needed this book. Sarah, I may never meet you in person but I want to THANK YOU! This Woman Evolve book has changed my life and I’m FOREVER grateful for you! May God continue to bless you, your ministry, and your family! I love you so much! Thank you for being a sister to me through the Woman Evolve movement! Love you bunches! 💋

Wow!!

I’ve admired Sarah Jakes Roberts for about 3 years now and I’m sooo proud of her. This labor of love, has reshaped my thought process about Eve and given me a different perspective to consider as I look at my personal life. I thank God for Sarah, her transparency, her testimony and her authenticity, desire and love to build women and to build a community of women to serve God and make Hell nervous. If you’re on a mission to move forward and evolve into what God has for you, you won’t be disappointed this book.

Sarah Jakes Roberts is such a phenomenal woman of God. She’s such a inspiration to myself and so many other women in this world. I always love to hear her speak. This is the first book I’ve read of hers and it’s just life changing. I’m so grateful to her for writing this book and helping me to dig deep inside of myself and discover some more things inside of me needed more healing. This is a must read but you have to be honest with yourself and understand we all have a little Eve in us!

I wish I could have breezed through this, but this is the first book I've read that really gives me something to chew on, practically and spiritually, so I'm giving it the time it needs to sink in. I recommend this to EVERY woman!!! Disclaimer - if you're uncomfortable dealing with real issues, this is not the book for you. But if you're honestly looking to level up from the inside out, this is the one. I plan on reading this over and over again.
