A very well written second chance romance set in the beautifully Island of Skye full of fabulous characters beautifully descriptions of the landscape makes you think you are right there. Two lost souls find their way back life/ love again. Really enjoyable read.

What a wonderful book, with wonderful characters and an even more wonderful setting! The Isle of Skye was such a beautiful choice, and I felt it really matched the characters, too. The second chance romance and mending of hearts was such a bittersweet theme, and really warmed my heart. It was raw and beautiful, and Lisa has an amazing way of storytelling that's truly breathtaking. Would definitely recommend!

Wonderful and heartwarming. Well thought out characters. Taking place in a small Scottish town. Love always wins out in the end.

I actually have had this book on my kindle since last year, read it but didn’t review it at the time. Lockdown hit us all in different ways and for me at the time all I wanted to do was read for reading sake. I have now re-read the book for this review.

I love this author so much, and am happy to be able to call her a friend. However this has never biased me toward any book of hers, this is an honest review based on how I feel about this story.

The authors love of Scotland, the place she has made her home, shines throughout this book. She has a knack of being able to put herself in a place and write about it in such a way you can picture it in your head even if you’ve never been to the area yourself.

The characters are well written, and what a surprise to see a character from a previous book which I absolutely loved when I read it.

Another great story, bring on the next!

I'm not usually a fan of second chance romances, but I was enchanted by this story. It's incredibly well written, and the Scottish island setting really does take you away there.

I loved Juliette and saw much of myself in her, even though decades come between us. I've not read anything by Lisa Hobman before this, but if this is how she writes characters I'm on board for more.

Lovely story of two lost souls coming together in the beautiful setting of the Isle of Skye. Juliette and Reid make great main characters and you really feel for them in their sorrow but love the way they start to live again. Perfect warmhearted beach read

This is a wonderful story of second chances at love in a beautiful small town setting. I've always been fascinated with Scotland, and this made me want to visit even more!

A wonderful read was this where the characters stayed with me long after I finished the book. Emotions rocked me as I read more about Juliette. With vivid landscapes and deepening relationships between the characters, the story took a beautiful path when Juliette and Reid came together where love and a second chance at life healed all their hurts.

This was my first time to read something from the author and I’m glad that I gave this book a chance. In this book we are following Juliette, a widow who lost her husband to a sickness and she finally takes some time for herself. She sets of to an island Skye and is mostly welcomed by majority of people. Living on an island is very different than living in Cotswold where she is from but that doesn’t mean that it is all bad. She finds a place to work at, finds amazing friends and even a handsome guy.

What I loved about this book is that it showed me that even if we went through the pain, there is still hope and we shouldn’t give up on love so easily. Juliette is a perfect example of character that grew through the book, even if there were moments where I was a bit annoyed by her. Same goes for Reid. They both grew and they both showed us that we shouldn’t give up hope. At moments, this was really a hard read and I shared a tear or two but the author made suire to keep it uplifting.

If you are on the lookout for the book that will show you how you can mend your heart, please pick up this book. I’m sure that it will be worth it. We can find love at the places we don’t expect it and this book will show us. Thanks to Rachel for inviting me to do a tour.

A brilliant read which will have you wanting to visit the Isle of Skye. Controvosy, misunderstanding and the need to be accepted. All set around the lifeboat museum and village life. A lovely story that you never want to end.

This is one of those books which I resented putting down! It was a lovely escape up to the Isle of Skye and really captured the beautiful part of the world and created a lovely community of characters. Juliette goes there to take a break away from her life in the Cotswold and to try to come to terms with the grief of losing her husband. However, a whole new world opens up. Recovering from depression, she seems attuned to its effects in others and beneath the romance of the story, lies some difficult and dark themes.
Family and friendship are major components of the story and Juliette discovers a family connection with the village and the Lifeboat Museum. Juliette is not the only character who is coping with loss and indeed not all the characters are likeable. Unrequited love, bordering on obsession creates difficulties and you really feel for Reid's son, Evin, who has been bullied at school and then faces separation from his Dad. Strong community links make this a special place. It is an ultimately hopeful read with some touching moments.

This is my first book by Lisa Hobman…not my usual genre, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised.

This story took me on a rollercoaster of emotions from tears rolling down my face to laughing out loud. With scenery so descriptive, I was transported to the island of Skye with characters I absolutely fell in love with.

I can’t wait for Lisa Hobman writes next.

I loved this story as a person who has dealt with depression, death of a loved one as well as divorce. I found this story not only very true to life but I could really relate to the characters.. I loved how as soon as Jules arrived in Skye she had a feeling that she was home, how the locals were quick to accept her even though she was an outsider. How chewys cheeky character made Jules love him even though she admitted she wasn’t a dog person. I really hope that there will be another follow on book as I would love to read more about all the characters

Juliette decides to take a sabbatical from her job to visit her mother’s hometown on the Island of Skye. (Get it? Haha) She is still greiving the loss of her husband, but the villagers welcome Juliette and soon she is running The Lifeboat House Museum. She befriends Even and his dog Chewie - Evin’s single dad Reid initially wants nothing to do with her.

I listened to this, and the accents were so fun! The village is everything I imagine a charming British villages to be. It was a tad long for my taste, but overall I thought it was a fun read.

This is a delightful story of love, loss and second chances. The story follows Jules as she struggles to deal with the loss of her husband, the love of her life. Having a wonderful support system in her best friend Millie and brother, Dex, she copes pretty well, but there is always something missing. When a first date post her husband's passing ends up in disaster, Jules decides to take a holiday and visit the Isle of Skye. This is where her mother grew up for some part of her childhood and for some reason Jules feels a pull to visit and explore.

Taking the scenic route, Jules drives down over two days, reaching her destination in awe of the beauty of the place. It doesn't take long for Jules to find friendship and kinship among the people of Skye as she makes a small space for herself in the community. We are also introduced to Reid Mackinnon, father to the adorable Evin. Evin and his dog Chewie slowly endear themselves to Jules while Reid struggles to deal with his life. 

I love how the author has delicately handled the different forms of loss a person feels, introducing us to Mr Hamish, grieving for his wife for more than thirty years, Jules, grieving the loss of her husband but with the determination to try to move on and Reid, dealing with an ex-wife who cheated on him and then left him. There is also beauty in the way people come together to help one another and it is not a community but one very big family.

As the story progress, Jules immerses herself in the history of the place while volunteering to run The Lifeboat House Museum. The experience is cleansing and everything she needs to relax and refresh and find herself once again. This is a heart-warming tale filled with some sad and a lot of bright moments that will light up the reader's day! I thoroughly enjoyed this story and loved being a part of Jules and Reid's journey! In the end everyone needs support from their loved ones in different forms and this is well portrayed in this book. I recommend this light but emotional read to all those who love a good story, especially ones about healing and second chances.

This book was a really fun and enjoyable read. The characters were relatable and had great depth. I definitely recommend it and will be ordering copies for my library.

Lisa Hobman exquisitely explores the depths of the human heart and writes sensitively and beautifully about human emotions and experiences readers will relate to and be moved by.

With beautifully drawn characters and plenty of humour, warmth and charm, Lisa Hobman’s Dreaming under an Island Skye is another unmissable treat by this immensely talented writer.

My goodness, this book was exactly what I needed this past week. Once I picked this book up, I had such a difficult time not finishing it in one sitting.

Lisa Hobman is an amazing author and managed to transport me to the beautiful island of Skye. The scenery the people all of it were so engaging.

This story has it all; friendship, romance, heartache and reconciliation. I can’t wait to read more by Ms. Hobman.
