Sovereignty is an incredibly poignant and compact look at a political theory that is necessary for understanding the global landscape we live in today while also tracing how we got here. It is short, but packs a lot of important information and is one I will revisit in the future!

I appreciate the publisher allowing me to read this book. Very interesting and well written I highly recommend

was archived before I could read the book; don't want to leave an empty review just sitting there. I will still read the book when I can get a copy.

I received an electronic ARC of this book via NetGalley.
This is a fairly short introduction to the history of the concept of sovereignty, particularly in a European (and later, North American) context. It deals both with the origins of the sovereignty claim in European history, how the concept changed over time and with systems of governance, and ultimately the impact of European sovereignty claims on the rest of the world through imperialism.
It is arranged fairly chronologically, tracing the history of the sovereignty claim through time in a logical progression that makes it easy to follow. Although it's quite a short book, it is fairly dense with information. Informative, but likely to most appeal to readers who are already interested in the subject or looking for a refresher on it.
