I love a great biography,. especially when it's lovingly written by a member of the family.
David Montague and Paige Bowers, penned an amazing book about his mother, Raye Montague.
The first person to draft a naval ship design by computer using a program she de-bugged.
Her accomplishments are also tremendous as she faced, what Ms. Montague's mother said, were three strikes again-She was a woman, she was black, and she would have a Southern racially segregated education.
But she didn't let that detour her from hurdling over barriers and making things happen.
She used her power and importance to promote education and civil rights and persisted in her encouragement of more girls in STEM fields.
For those who loved Hidden Figures or simply love reading of incredible women who changed our world for the better, pick up this book.

Overnight Code should be required reading for high schoolers and young professionals. This book is great for someone looking to get a really good overview of 20th century U.S. history from World War II, to the Civil Rights Movement, to the women’s movement. It’s also a good insight to what Black women had to go through being overlooked and underestimated by both men and women. In fact Raye’s experiences still resonate with me today as Black women in America continue to fight for inclusion and equality. It also offers all types of career advice which I highly recommend taking if you’re a young professional. Also if you’re interested in the fields of engineering, computer science, and math this is the perfect read. In conclusion, Raye Montague’s story is incredibly inspiring, frustrating, uplifting, and heartfelt and I’m so glad more people will know her name now that this book exists.
