A wonderful book for anyone who loves children and/or Mr. Rogers! A beautiful tribute to Mr. Rogers that incorporates current science and parenting advice.

A long time fan of Mr. Rogers’ work with children, this book solidified my respect for him even more. I’m an early childhood educator and have learned so much from his teaching and communication style. This book takes examples from his life and show, validates it with current research, and has clear and actionable ways to implement the learning right away. One of the more effective books on relating to children I’ve read. I would highly recommend this to anyone who spends anytime with children: parents, family members, pediatricians and educators. Thanks to netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I grew up watching Mr. Rogers, and I am now a teacher - so this book was pure gold for me. As humans we are born curious, as little kids we ask why excessively, but what happens to this curiosity? This book is a must read for anyone working with children, youth, or inquiring minds.

This is an excellent book, I'd say a must read for anyone who spends time nurturing children. It explores the values and methods that Mr. Rogers used in his show (which are countercultural to the fast-paced, over-scheduled lives many of our kids lead) and backs them up with recent studies. The author also weaves in Fred Rogers's life story and highlights many organizations for kids in Pittsburgh (where Mr. Rogers filmed his show).

I read this book because we were fortunate to have these authors agree to appear at our library (via Zoom) to talk about it. I remember being "too cool" for Mister Rogers in my youth, although I know I did watch him for a few years. My children were born in the generation that completely missed Mister Rogers, and so they do not understand the appeal of the recent documentary and the Tom Hanks movie. This book was a very interesting read for me. As a child, I definitely did not appreciate the amount of research and just plain science that was behind the Mister Rogers episodes and his philosophy in general. So the way the authors delved into the underlying principles in this book was fascinating.

This book is the perfect balance of nostalgia for Mister Rogers mixed with discussions of real psychology, parenting science, etc. I think it would be very helpful for parents of young children, educators, and anyone who has to work with children as part of their job. To be honest, although my kids are grown, I felt that I learned some things about good ways to deal with people of all ages.

As a counselor and educator I have always looked to Mr. Rogers as a role model of character and how to work with children in innovative and positive ways. Thank you for the opportunity to review this wonderful book. The humanity and lessons Mr. Rogers taught are essential for every generation.
