I'm a fan of themed profiles. I like that this collection represents a variety of time periods, cultures, age groups, and approaches to exploration. It is easily read with a sensible vocabulary. A solid read.

I love to use this type of book to introduce students to historical figures. This one is divided by the types of adventures: sky, peaks, ice, land, and water. You will find familiar faces (Amelia Earhart, Zora Neale Hurston, Diana Nyad) and plenty of lesser known explorers. Each female adventurer gets 2 pages in which her exploits are explained. There book is also peppered with infographics and fun facts.

Her Epic Adventure: 25 Daring Women Who Inspire a Life Less Ordinary by Julia De Laurentiis Johnston was an interesting read. I learned a lot from reading this book as many of the women featured were unfamiliar to me. The women in this book will surely be an inspiration for adventurous girls everywhere. #NetGalley

The writing is really cheesy and uses a lot of exclamation points.

So many of the women at the beginning of the book died tragically on their adventures. Felt like a strange editing decision to have so many of them at the beginning.

A diverse group of women is represented here. I liked the mix of well known and lesser known figures.

I enjoyed this book very much. Many of the included women were unfamiliar to me so it was a delight to learn about them and their achievements. I got to know a number of others in a different light too (for example Hurston). This book would be a great addition to any school library and a great encouragement for girls to dare and fulfill their dreams. We need more books like this one!

I absolutely loved this book! As the mother of three girls, I enjoyed reading about women and their accomplishments apart from the usual women's history figures. I hadn't heard of most of these women and this book made me want to learn more about all of them! I especially liked the way in which the women discussed were grouped by differentiating categories according to their adventures, i.e. LAND, AIR, SPACE, etc. The book has great illustrations as well. I'll buy this one for sure and can think of several young girls to whom I'll gift this book!

Very cool book. Loved how the book was split into diffrent sections like sky, land, water and so on. So many trialblazer women, some known and others that should be more known. Its amazing how so many women have braved lonely and far flung areas in love of anture or study and collected so many specimens with or wihtout technical knowledge/background. All those who scaled heights, traveled far on mountains will inspire people from different walks of life.

This is a wonderful read. It’s so inspiring and easy to read and understand. My kids devoured it and I cannot wait to read it with my class when we return to school. It shows that if you truly want something and have the will and determination, anything is possible.

This book would be great for a classroom library!! It can also be used as more information on famous women. Each chapter talks about different heroic women who battled the ice, mountains, the sky, and the land. Each woman has their own time to shine, with talking about their background and what they did to become heroic. It even illustrates each woman and what they wore during their time.

"Her Epic Adventure: 25 Daring Women Who Inspire a Life Less Ordinary" is sure to be a hit for any age group. Julia De Laurentiis Johnston does an amazing job of allowing the reader to picture themselves in the environment before learning about the famous woman. This nonfiction text is classified to allow the reader to easily go to the section they wish. Beautiful illustrations and impactful summaries of the women featured will make this nonfiction text a hit in my classroom.

I am looking forward to showing my third and fourth grade scholars the amazing achievements these woman have made.

On a growing shelf of books that provide snapshot biographies and histories of famous females for young soon-to-potentially-be-famous females, this still has just enough to stand out. As opposed to some Rebellious mixed bags of subjects, these are characters who have engaged with the outside world, from skiing across Greenland on multiple occasions, to swimming or sailing the world's waters, or either climbing or flying way, way above everyone else. It's good to see that however many books like this I turn to I still find new content, such as the mostly-female game reserve staff in South Africa, who have knocked 70% of the poaching and bushmeat hunting on the head. But it serves just as well to revisit people you've seen mentioned before, such as Junko Tabei, the first woman up Everest (at under five foot in height herself), or Bessie Coleman, who was refused by every American airplane club flying lessons, so went to France and learnt enough language to become proficient enough there to work as a stunt pilot. What makes this book different is that we get box-outs, and while not all are completely relevant to our current lives (how to survive an avalanche not a common worry for the British schoolkids I know), they do add extra detail, extra connectivity between all the women herein, and even more impetus for the young reader to think "this… this could be you". More than competent and attractive artworks accompany each entry, and this all ends up well worth a recommendation.
