Very cute, but not appealing to my 7-year old. It would be good for a younger demographic, it just needs a little more for me.

In a delightful dance of humor and acceptance, "This Is a Dog Book!" invites readers into a world where a bunny endeavors to prove his dog-worthy credentials. The playful banter between skeptical dogs and the determined bunny unfolds entirely through dialogue, creating a rib-tickling display of duplicity and diversion.

Embarking on this endearing journey, one can't help but giggle at the bunny's attempts to fit into the dog world, showcasing an array of canine qualities. From the enthusiasm for ball-catching to the strategic use of puppy-dog eyes, the bunny's efforts are both hilarious and heartwarming. The question of whether a bunny can truly be a dog adds an element of whimsy to this picture book.

Judith Henderson's charming narrative, written entirely in dialogue, captures the essence of identity, community, and belonging. The illustrations by Julien Chung, with bold black lines and splashes of red, complement the snappy text and bring forth a world brimming with emotion. Beyond the surface humor, the story gently nudges readers toward essential character education messages of kindness and inclusiveness.

The true magic of this tale lies in its profound lesson—that it's what's on the inside that counts. In the end, the story beautifully emphasizes the importance of acceptance and highlights that differences don't have to define us. A fantastic tale for children to act out and an uplifting reminder for readers of all ages, this book is a treasure trove of laughter, warmth, and valuable life lessons. Whether you're sharing it with little ones or savoring it yourself, be prepared for an enchanting experience that goes beyond the pages.

This book is like Duck Rabbit. Is it a dog or is it a bunny. It does the things dogs do. Even the doo-doo. But is it a dog and can it be in this book? This was a lot of fun. I love how the illustrator kept the palette and the artwork simple but striking. It just works. This could be a great mini play for reader theater or a puppet show.

An absolutely delightful book that I'm sure will appeal to children and adults alike. The illustrations are very cute, and the story is heartwarming. You will not believe the range of emotion the simple illustrations are able to convey. Very inspiring! I can't wait to read it out to my niece!

Thank you to the author, NetGalley and Kids Can Press for these moments of pure reading joy.

This book is a cute story about a bunny trying to pull off being a dog. Every time the dogs get close to thinking the bunny is not a dog, the bunny pulls out treats. I think this would be a fun story for storytime.

This is a dog book. No bunnies allowed. But what if you're a bunny who looks like a dog? I thought this book sounded fun, but it was disappointing. Instead of embracing his bunny-ness, the bunny just keeps lying about being a dog and trying to distract the dogs with treats. It had potential, but it fell flat for me.

Thanks to Kids Can Press and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book.

"This is a Dog Book" by Judith Henderson is a great story of community, belonging, friendship, and having confidence in oneself. The illustrations feature high-contrast black, grey, and red, which I am interested to see in a print copy to share during a storytime session. The text is witty, funny, and offers opportunity to engage children and invite them to participate in the reading experience.

This Is A Dog Book by Judith Henderson, illustrated by Julien Chung.

This clever bunny is determined to convince these dogs that he belongs in their book—but is he willing to pass the ultimate dog test?

This book is fun and cute, and has a sweet message. Any book that gets us giggling is a winner here. And of course we had to read it to the dogs and the rabbit. Tbh, they weren’t super interested. But the kids loved it.

Thank you @netgalley for and Kids Can Press for this ARC in exchange for my review.

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. This book is a dog book by why is there a bunny on the cover? Well, this is what is discussed between the bunny and the dog throughout this book. It was quite funny and kids will love.

What a fresh and unconventional book. Funny and different from traditional books about dogs. I had a great time with this one. It will be good for children and for adults.

This Is a Dog Book! by Judith Henderson is the perfect book for little boys everywhere. Dog lovers will especially love this book. My nine year old son thought he would love this book because it is all about dogs. But we were enchanted by the books fun, engaging writing and illustrations and especially by the little boy humor. This picture book will be a favorite in your house, especially with lower elementary students. We highly recommend it. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.

Just by the cover depicting a bunny in a Where’s Waldo-style shirt and the title exclaiming, “This Is a Dog Book!” you know you are going to be for a fun experience and author Judith Henderson doesn’t let us down. The illustrations by Julien Chung are very cute.

The story is simple. What looks like a bunny but is claiming to be a dog wants to be in the dog book. So the dogs ask him all kinds of dog-oriented questions. Bunny momentarily gets stuck on the “smelling poop” part of the program. If you’ve ever walked a dog where people do not clean up after their dogs, you know that your dog is going to find that “delicacy.”

The one very important question that arises is: are you a good friend? Thus the moral of this story. You may look or be different, but as long as you can be a good friend, you can join us. A lovely message that needs sharing.

This Is a Dog Book! is geared toward 4-7 year olds.

This is a silly book about if an animal is a dog or a bunny. It has short phrases and lots of pictures that will appeal to small children. The illustrations are also very cute!

I had my children read this book with me, and I was particular curious what my nine-year-old daughter thought since she is obsessed with dogs. She loved the illustrations and the text design. She didn’t really understand what the book was about—if it was actually a bunny or if it was a dog who looked like a bunny. We did like the concluding point that either way, the animal could be a friend. Neither of us really liked the cow poop ending, although maybe that would appeal to a certain audience. We both did love the black and white and red color scheme and the illustrations.

In a book that is supposed to be about dogs, a bunny tries to prove he is a dog but finds he doesn’t like all dog things.

This is a cute book about trying to fit in. The illustrations are simple and cute showing the animals personalities.

The calming shades of black, gray, and red will help engage young listeners. The alternating sharpness and shading of lines is creative illustrating. Humorous dogs and a bunny question whether bunny is really a dog. Perfect for teachers and parents to use in lessons about comparing and contrasting. I will be reading this to my grand-niece!

I received this book for free from NetGalley.com. I really liked this book. The color scheme is not distracting, the length is just right, and the message at the end is sweet. If this came in board book fashion, I’d read it to my grand babies. I’d even read this book to my 11-year-old boy. It’s a really sweet story.

This was a humorous book filled with dogs trying to figure out if their new friend is a dog or bunny. Great for kiddos who love asking and answering questions. Would be an extremely useful book for teaching questions--how to ask them, how to answer them, and punctuation at the end of them.
