Like Cats and Dogs honestly looked like a book I would enjoy, I wont deny it was mostly because it has animals in the title, on the cover, and in the book. I am pretty easy to entertain and if any book has an animal (or two) I'm down to dive into it. Its the animal lover in me coming out. Unfortunately, this one was just okay for me. I don't think I had high expectations walking into this book but for some reason I wasn't fully invested into the characters themselves. Or the actual romance. Yes, these two had cute moments here and there but the drama was just meh to me. Plus it didn't feel like an enemies to lovers kind of romance to me either. It was definitely a slow burning one since it took one character way too freaking long to do anything. Which, yes, was completely frustrating to me.

In the end, it was an okay book that had potential to be somewhat more.

This unfortunately didn't really work for me.

The premise was cute, and I of course enjoyed the scenes with the animals. I however didn't feel like we delved into the characters at all - everything was surface level. After reading this book, I don't really feel like I got to know Lauren and Caleb. I also felt like they were at times so hateful of each other, and they didn't make me feel like their HEA would last.

I hope I enjoy Kate McMurray's next book more.

I was super excited to read this book because of the premise and I really love the cover! Who can resist pets on the cover????

I've been reading a lot of books with the enemies-to-lovers trope recently that's why I picked up this book. However, as much as I wanted to, I couldn't connect with the main characters at all. And it's a big struggle for me as I went through the book. The sex scenes were hot, sure, but I don't think that the book really gave the characters the character development I was hoping for.

I liked the animals though. It was pretty cool to have the Cat Cafe and Vet Clinic near each other. And I loved the depictions of Brooklyn too, I thought that was very visual. Sadly, they weren't enough to make me really invested with the book.

Can you fight like cats and dogs, and still be perfect for each other?

From this adorable cute cover to the plot, I liked it!
However, I couldn't connect with the characters and at one point, I dislike both of them.
This story merged two tropes: enemies with benefits which was really stupid and sometimes I feel like their relationship is toxic.

This is not a badly written but I was expecting more because it was a rom com. But it's not lighthearted!!

Thank for the opportunity to read and review this book. This book unfortunately didn't work for me. I found it difficult to connect with the characters.

This is such a cute book! I have never been to a cat cafe, but I think it is such a good concept. Especially since Lauren is also getting these cats adopted. She sounds like the absolute best cafe owner. Caleb annoys me so much, but I can't get enough of him! Fun book!

I wanted to love this one so much. I am a dog and cat person, and this was just right my ally. But, I just couldn't get into the sorry. 2 stars.

'Like Cats and Dogs': 2⭐

(Unpaid Review: thank you @netgalley, @sourcebookscasablanca and @katemcmurray for allowing me to read this eArc in exchange for a review).

Being a sucker for cute covers and stories involving animals, this book was an instant request for me. The minute I read it, I loved the fact that animals were a huge part of it, since the protagonists were a veterinarian and a cat café owner.
However, the book wasn't for me. I didn't feel much of a connection between these characters and I, myself, didn't connect with them. It's a shame really, since I really liked the author's writing style.
It wasn't a bad book at all, it was entertaining and cute but it wasn't really what I was hoping for.

Thank you netgalley and publisher for the opportunity to read this arc and provide honest feedback.

I really wanted to like this book. The cover of the book is perfect, it follows the cartoony like covers of rom coms that I’ve come to enjoy. However, although the book started out ok, within the first quarter of the book I just couldn’t stand the main character and her behavior. And her hypocrisy in everything. It drove me batty. I felt bad for Caleb throughout and just couldn’t wait for it to just be over. I was not invested in her or her life and actually more hoped someone would put her in her place with her crap behavior. /rant. This book wasn’t for me, which I’m sad about as it had a lot of potential.

I received an ARC from the publisher and all opinions are my own.
I enjoyed this book but at times it felt a bit juvenile. Caleb and Lauren meet through work and have an instant attraction towards each other. Despite that, they quickly start arguing over everything, so they turn into "enemies". However, when a shared worry over some cats have them unite their forces, both find out that there's more to the other person.
Even though they have a mutual attraction, they kept fighting and it didn't seem super realistic. It seemed like the fighting was there as a plot point but I, as a reader, felt like the arguing was juvenile as there really was no good reason for it. Of course, it will all be resolved by the end but it made me think, would a couple like this manage to stay together? Difficult to tell.
My favourite part of the book was all the animal and the Cat Cafe!

Overall I would give this author another chance but for now, it is a solid three out of five.

Thank you to Netgalley for the advanced copy of this book!

I thought this book was really cute. I loved the enemies to lovers trope as well as a bit of close proximity, as both characters are working in the same building. Lauren works in a cat cafe that’s in the same building as the vet clinic Caleb just began working with. They have an instant attraction, but it soon turns into a rivalry with a lot of bickering. I love how this story unfolded, their chemistry, and their journey from enemies to lovers…and back again!

Definitely recommend this one if you need a romcom in your life!

Thanks to the publisher for giving me the chance of this free ebook, in exchange of an honest review.

When I've started reading this book I checked on goodreads and I was surprised and worried for the lower rating. I haven't been stopped by that because I always prefer to have a personal opinion about something, and not be influenced by others, but I have to admit that I understand.

This book has a good starting idea (and I'm always a fan of the enemies to lovers trope), but it is totally bad handed. I don't understand why the main characters started fighting like teenagers and even if I understand the chemistry between them was high since the beginning, it was all so fast I couldn't appreciate wholly. The main characters too couldn't involve me emotionally. They're feelings are there but they're just....flat.

I don't know, maybe I'll give it another chance in the future, but right now I'm really disappointed.

Princess Fuzzypants here: I am not a big romance reader. I have enjoyed a series that has romance and magical cats so I thought I would try one where the two protagonists worked in a cat cafe and vet’s office.. it promised lots of furry beings and it did deliver on that.

I found the story rather predictable even though it started off with two people who despised each other who decided to have animosity with benefits. It is a bit different from friends with benefits but it is supposed to work the same way. A little romp here and there but no commitment.
Naturally the two realize there is more there but try to fight it all the way. Both have come from ended relationships and are ultra shy about testing the waters again. Of course, through trials and tribulations they both realize they are meant for each other and move forward.

It was an okay read but nothing that had me jumping up and down. Four purrs and one paw up.

I really wanted to love this story so much! I was intrigued by the premise and had high hopes that I would love it (cat & dogs!!!) but unfortunately it fell a bit flat for me. After reading the blurb, I was expecting a cute, rom-com with flirty banter and good-humored bickering, but as the story progressed my hope was dashed again and again. Don't get me wrong, Lauren and Caleb were instantly attracted to each other and although neither of them were looking for any real relationship they decide to try their hand at a friends with benefits arrangement. Lauren had given up men after her ex got married and carried some insecurities and was very skeptical and cynical. Constantly picking fights and demanding their relationship be defined. Meanwhile, Caleb had been burned and was recently divorced and didn't feel a need to define their relationship beyond the arrangement they had agreed upon. IDK, the connection just wasn't there for me. And even though their chemistry was clearly palpable, which led to some steamy encounters, I just could not belief they had enough between them for a lasting relationship.

All in all, an okay steamy read.

I'm not sure what I was expecting from this one but it missed the mark. I had zero interest in the characters and they seemed very 2D.

Like Cats and Dogs by Kate McMurray turned out to be a cute book. Its about Lauren who manages a cat cafe store next door to a Veterinarian clinic where Caleb just started working. They don't quite get along, Caleb and Lauren but they finally figure it out. First I have to say the sex scenes were good and it surprised me. They were thought out and really well written. I wasn't expecting that. After while into the book it got a little boring but it picked up towards the end and had a great ending. This book reminds me that even when your not ready or don't want love in any way or give up on it. It can sneak up on you and there is nothing you can do to stop it.

This one hurts to write. I really really wanted to like this book. The cover for Like Cats and Dogs is what initially drew me in. Then discovering that there are animals and a cat cafe involved in the storyline and I was sold. ⁣

If you’ve followed me for a while, you’d know that enemies to lovers is one of my favorite romance tropes. This was less enemies to lovers and more enemies to benefits. They’d fight and then have sex. Missing was the banter that makes me love enemies to lovers so much. Missing was the flirting disguised as pranks or banter that showed you they both secretly really liked the other but neither wanted to admit it. This was just 2 people who didn’t get along at all. And then when one caught feelings for the other and got mad that their arrangement wasn’t what they wanted, it all just went downhill. ⁣

I powered through this one for the animals. They were the star of the show for me. ⁣
But sadly, I didn’t enjoy Like Cats and Dogs even though on paper it should have been one of my favorite reads.
