The Three Mrs. Greys by Shelly Ellis

Three women and all married to the same man.
The bigamist husband has been shot and could die.
When the women find out they are not the only Mrs. Grey…
…things become complicated.

This had so much potential! I am sure some people loved the story, but I found myself scratching my head wondering how the women were suckered in, put up with what they did, behaved as they did, and how they would all come out in the end. I thought this would be a standalone story but found out at the end of the book that it was instead the first in a series and ended with a cliffhanger and no resolution for any of the characters. I didn’t connect with, like or admire any of the characters and that was a problem. I don’t think I will be reading the second book in this series but do hope that it will do well and find the readers who will love it.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for the ARC – This is my honest review.

I have yet to read a book by this author that I didn't like. Three women find out they're married to the same man when he is shot.

This book will take you on an emotional Rollercoaster ride. I was not expecting it to go like this. I loved the writing style of the author and I want more. There were secrets and surprises that threw me for a loop. Although I normally don't like books with cliffhanger endings, I really enjoyed how the author finished this book and I can't wait for the next book in the series.

I recieved a copy of the book via the publisher through Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving an honest review

Not my usual genre but so glad I chose to read this new series by Shelly Ellis. My mouth was hanging open from both the sex scenes and the twists. Can't wait for the next one in the series, especially after that ending.

2 STARS

One wealthy businessman, a trio of unsuspecting wives, and an explosive turn of events. In this scandalous, twist-filled new series from award-winning author Shelly Ellis, will too many secrets and one devastating bond unite three women--or destroy them?

First off, I am not an #ownvoices reviewer, so please keep that in mind with this review.

I SO badly wanted to love THE THREE MRS. GREYS, especially after reading another highly entertaining and twist ridden book last year with a similar premise. It started out strong, with a LOAD of super juicy drama, shocking reveals and STEAM. Unfortunately, at about the 35% mark it started to drag for me and I ended up struggling to finish it.

Thank you to Netgalley, the author and publisher for my ARC. THE THREE MRS. GREYS is available March 30th.

I read this book in a day! I couldn’t put it down. The book starts off with Cyrus Grey, who gets shot, and his three wives. Any man who juggles three wives will definitely have some enemies. I love how each chapter is a different day of the week and is told from each of the wife's point of view. My favorite wife is Noelle, the former model, who doesn’t have children with Cyrus. My least favorite is Vanessa, mother of his three children and having an affair with a younger man. I’m not sure about Diamond, the third wife yet. The story ends in a cliffhanger, and it seems like there will be a sequel so we will know who shot Cyrus!
The is some language and graphic sex scenes in the book. I don’t don’t think it takes away from the story, but I thought I should mention it.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Kensington Books through NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

HAPPY PUBLICATION DAY 🎉 3/30/21

THE THREE MRS. GREYS BY: SHELLY ELLIS 💍 💍💍

If I could describe my mood for this novel I would include *JUICY* and All 👏🏾 For 👏🏾 The 👏🏾 Drama 👏🏾! It’s a great thing when the author can tangle you into a plot with many twists and turns, causing you the need!!! to know how to untangle all of them.

The Three Mrs. Greys envelop in a story about one man (Cyrus Grey) and the three women who surround him; Vanessa, the OG wife, Noelle the model with mental issues and Diamond, who Cy saved from the streets. If you haven’t guessed it there is a significant plot twist: He is married to all three of them and they never had a clue! That is until Cyrus is shot.. imagine three women claiming to be wifey at the hospital..awkward much?

Who shot Cyrus ? Why? I had few clues and the wrong guesses. If I’m being honest, some wives had the motive.

The Three Mrs. Greys is a good, pulse hitting read and it’s very well written. If you love drama, suspense and some entertainment, this one will good for you.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for this gifted e-ARC

This is not a thriller or a mystery. This is more like a soap opera. The only one not having sex was the guy with three wives! And that was probably only because he was in a coma. Characters and their actions did not make any sense. If your husband is buying you Birkin purses and you are driving an Aston Martin, why are you hostessing at a restaurant? The storyline was rather predictable and seemed to focus more on the sex and high drama scenes than in presenting a solid story. And the final insult? That this book ends with a cliff hanger. The story isn't even complete.

WTH!!! Shelly Ellis was not kidding. There are three Mrs. Greys. Yep, you guess right there is a boatload of drama!!! And there is some shooting involved; bullet lands its mark but did not come from who you may think. 😱🤐

Cyrus Grey has decided he needs three wives. Out of all the characters he is the most mysterious. Even after he is caught up he didn’t crack and was still calling shots. Now the wives, all different looks and walks of life.

#1 Vanessa Grey, now this one you must keep your eye on, she has secrets of her own...so she thinks. This union gets a little tricky due to them having children.

#2 Noelle Grey, a retired model, owns a boutique and has questionable mental stability. No children, but she desperately wants to have them. This union has some friction because instead of telling her the real reason they cannot have kids Cyrus gives her a boutique instead. 😠🤔

A spicy note to this one is the business partner has a seedy past and appears to have his eye on wife #2. 😲

And last, but certainly not least, is

#3 Diamond Grey, is the youngest of the clan, has a less than stellar past that she would rather keep hidden. She cannot seem to shake her past when she finds herself in the line of fire, literally. Now she is being questioned for her husband's shooting.

I liked the drama and suspense of the storyline. I would've like to have a bit more about why Cyrus had three wives, his end game.

If you think this review leaves you with unanswered questions, that is how I feel. I can only hope that more will be coming soon. If you enjoy a love triangle with a twist, drama, and suspense, this is a must-read for you.

This was a great book. I enjoyed the multiple pov chapters. I didn't guess who shot Cyrus. I look forward to reading more books from Shelly Ellis.

I received an arc from NetGalley and the publisher in return for an honest review. Thank you for the opportunity.

This one was just okay. I thought it was going to be more suspenseful than it was, and I did NOT realize it was the first book in a series so when it cut out with no resolution at the end I was surprised and super annoyed.

The Three Mrs. Greys is the new series by Shelly Ellis. In this book, we meet Cyrus Grey, Vanessa Grey, Noelle Grey, and Diamond Grey. All of them are Cyrus Grey's wives. None of the wives are aware of each other until Cy is suddenly shot. Due to the shooting, this brings about a number of questions. Cyrus has created a web of lies that could potentially cost people their lives. Each Mrs. Grey loves Cy for different reason. Unfortunately, the love maybe only temporary. Join Ms. Ellis on this adventure of who did it and why? Side Note: Vanessa's mother is a piece of work. Who needs enemies when you have a mother like her. This series has started off with a bang.

Great book by Shelly Ellis! I blew through this one.

Cyrus Grey has been a busy man. How he has managed to keep up with not one wife, but three is beyond me. It all blows up in his face when he is shot. The three women get together after Noelle learns that Cy may have had some ‘bad’ business. She is concerned the shooter may come for the rest of them. So many things are uncovered and some are not. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book.

Thank you to Kensington Books and NetGalley for the #gifted copy of this book.

Oh, what a tangled web we weave....

Well, well, well, what do we have here??? A delightfully engrossing and fun book about one wealthy businessman and his unsuspecting three wives. Someone has shot Cyrus Grey and when two of his wives’ rush to the hospital they get more than they bargained for - the knowledge that their husband was a bigamist. The you-know-what is going to hit the fan!

Vanessa has been married to Cyrus for eleven years and they have three children together. She knew things were not right in her marriage, heck even she is up to no good on the side, but she was shocked to hear another woman say she was married to Cyrus.

Noelle, a former model, believes her marriage to Cyrus is solid. She desperately wants a child and would like to know why Cyrus does not want to have a child with her. She is flabbergasted when she rushes to the hospital and hears Vanessa say she is married to Cyrus.

Diamond is also married to Cyrus. He saved her from her former life. She is having her pretty woman moment, but her former life draws the attention of the police who believe that she may be a suspect in her husband's shooting. How will she prove them wrong?

Oh, how deliciously fun this was! You can feel the deception dripping from the pages. If Shelly Ellis is not on your radar, she needs to be! This book is full of conniving, tomfoolery, sex, lies, anger, planning, scheming, and danger. So good!!! Try to put this one down! I dare you, try it!

The characters are interesting and the plot intriguing. I kept trying to wrap my mind around how he pulled it off. How do you have three wives - not sister wives - but three wives, three residences,
three set of bills, lifestyles, etc. HOW does he do it? Why are the women not suspicious? He cannot spend that much time with any of them. How much traveling can a businessman do?

Will you like all the characters? Will you feel sorry for any of them? There was one I felt sorry for. Sometimes I have a hard time with a book if I cannot feel for or root for the characters. But Ellis has created characters who you would like to dislike. Each is unique and has his/her own issues and things going on in their lives. This book is like a nighttime soap opera and I mean that in the best possible way. This book is marketed as a thriller, but I see it more as a domestic drama with suspense and the central mystery of who shot Cyrus and why or should I say who would not want to shoot him?

This was pure escapism reading and I look forward to the next book! This book is not too heavy nor it is too light, it is just perfect when you want to kick back and be entertained.

Thank you to Kensington Books and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.

I was looking forward to reading The Three Mrs Greys but unfortunately it didn't grab my attention as I had hoped it would. I didn't particularly like the characters and I really disliked that the story ended on a cliffhanger as I did not realise before starting this book that it was the beginning of a series.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for my ARC.

If you’re looking for a messy read, look no further than Shelly Ellis’s latest, The Three Mrs. Greys! Once I started reading, it was difficult as hell to stop. I had to know what was going to happen in this suspenseful tale, where almost all of the characters are not who they seem to be.

The quick rundown: Cyrus Grey is a liar, a cheater, a deceiver, and a heartbreaker! His deceptive ways are revealed when he ends up in the hospital, all shot up and knocking at death’s door. Who shot him, you ask? We don’t know! Ok, maybe we have an idea *shrugs*. What we do know is two of his wives meet after running to the hospital to be by his side, and trust, it wasn’t a happy meeting, either. Oh, this gets better, though, because they find out that two wives isn’t enough for Cyrus, as there is a third Mrs. Grey! The three Mrs. Greys must decide to either team up to find out the truth about their husband’s secrets and lives, or go out on her own and be destroyed by them.

Cue Sza’s The Weekend because this is exactly how Cyrus was running his business. He had it going good, too, until his lies and debauchery caught up with him. Shelly did a good job weaving together a tale of foolishness and suspense that kept me very entertained. The storyline is solid and fast-paced. I love Shelly’s writing style, as it is authentic and natural. I enjoyed the most the contrasts between the three wives. The only thing they have in common is their husband, as the three of them are as different as night and day.

In short, read it! Spoiler: there is a part 2! I am absolutely looking forward to reading it.

I was given an ARC from NetGalley to read and to provide my honest review.

Omg. The Three Mrs. Greys by Shelly Ellis is absolutely unputdownable. This book kept me up way past my bedtime! The story starts with Cyrus Grey. When his wife, Vanessa, shows up at the hospital, she finds out that he is married to another woman by the name of Noelle. Shortly after, they find out about a third wife, Diamond. Cyrus is a complete jerk, which makes me wonder why any of them put up with him, but then we wouldn’t have had this book. Plenty of steamy sex scenes, but none with Cyrus. Lots of twists and turns and I was here for all of them! The book doesn’t really have an ending, because there is a book #2 coming, which I cannot wait for. This is the first book by Shelly Ellis that I have read, but it will not be the last. Thank you to Netgalley and Kensington for the ARC. All opinions expressed are my own.

I am not a fan of books that leave you hanging until the next episode. Had I known that The Three Mrs. Greys was the first book in a serial story I wouldn't have read, but then I would have missed out on a very interesting story!

Vanessa has been married to Cyrus Grey for 11 years. Three children later she lives in a lovely home free of money worries and her kids are in private school.

Noelle has been married to Cyrus Grey for 4 years. She desperately wants a baby. The former model now owns a boutique clothing store that is financed by Cy. His business partner, Tariq Donahue, is always there when Noelle can't reach Cy.

Diamond married Cyrus Grey 10 months ago in Las Vegas. Now a restaurant hostess, Diamond is injured when Cy is shot outside their condo. Diamond's former pimp is out of jail and looking to regain his 'property'.

The women find out about each other while Cy is in a coma and their lives are suddenly not what they thought. The cliff hanger ending makes me hope the next book in the series will be released soon.

Cyrus Grey is wealthy and cunning enough to have three wives and cover his tracks enough so none of the women knows the truth. Until he ends up shot, in a coma and in the hospital. Then Noelle, Diamond and Vanessa learn about each other and their lives are never the same.
Shelly Ellis wrote a fast-paced read with a deception and drama. Each of the women had their own lies and secrets in addition to Cyrus' big lie. I found myself curious to see how it would all play out but there is a cliffhanger at the end, so this tells me that more books are coming. I do wish even one thing had wrapped up in this read though but the strings the author left will have many clamoring for the next read.
If you like twisted stories, conflict and non-stop drama, this is the read for you. I think every single one of the characters have some growing up to do and I do want to know what happens.

”What other secrets had Cyrus kept from Noelle? What other lies had he told?”

I was intrigued by the concept of The Three Mrs. Greys - a man with multiple, secret wives and a sudden attempt on his life sounded like just the thriller I was looking for. I even dared to hope that this might be the this year’s The Wives - something twisty, creepy, and unputdownable.

But in reality, the story drifted a little too far from believable, and there was definitely more focus on the love triangle (love quadrangle?) and “how could he *do* this to me?!” than on any real intrigue or suspense.

It was over-the-top dramatic, which may really appeal to readers who love a good catfight, but I didn’t connect with any of the characters enough to care about their stories. I didn’t feel like I got to know any of them, beyond their collective desires for a rich husband and to oust the other ladies vying for his affection. It was a light, quick read, which was nice, but it got a little crass at times. Not a bad book, but not my favorite.
