I am so glad that I was given the opportunity to read this book early. Even though I have already pre-ordered a copy for myself. Lucinda Berry does and excellent job of drawing you in to the story and keeping you engaged and lighting the NEED TO KNOW fire!

A touching story about two girls brought together by circumstances out of their control who formed an unconditional bond and became sisters. I loved following along with these girls and getting to know them in the past as well as the present. The hardships they endured and survived together and the love they have for each other in refreshing.
With that being said, the story is also full of the dark parts of life that can leave a person fragile and raw! I second guessed my predictions throughout the entire story and was left shocked and satisfied. I cannot wait to read more of Lucinda's work! She is an amazing story teller.

5 Stars from me!!

My Review:

This is not my first rodeo with this author and it certainly will not be my last. I have read several books by Lucinda Berry and can’t get enough of her. I am totally addicted to this author and I am not ashamed to admit it. What an amazing read this was along with all her other books I have read. I loved, loved, loved this book so much. It had me on the edge of my seat the whole entire time. I could not swipe through the pages fast enough. I did not want to eat or sleep until I found out what happened. It was just that good.

Now let’s talk about the actual book and what I loved about it. First, I want to tell anyone who will listen that this book blew my mind. Lucinda Berry uses her background as a Psychologist to create a story that will stay with you for a very long time. She is the Queen of Psychological Thrillers in my book. On to the characters. Every character in this book had something to hide and it was so interesting to watch it all unfold throughout the whole book. You do find out that the past never stays that way. You will get punished for those actions even if you have changed. I loved watching how each character grew to become the person that they were today. The author did such a great job on each of them. I was so sad to see the book end as I really got super involved in all of their lives as if I was living it with them. The plot went back and forth between the past and present. This worked so well and I loved the way the author did this. It showed how the past finally caught up with each of them and how it affected their lives. So let’s talk about that awesome ending. I never saw that one coming. I couldn’t believe the last few chapters of this book. It was like I was dangling from the side of a cliff. So very intense and I loved every minute of it. The whole story finally came together and you are like wow, now I get it. It was like a Christmas present wrapped so nice and neat with a great big beautiful bow on top.

Between the plot, characters and all the twists in this book it made it an easy and fast read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 5 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Lucinda Berry does it again! I gave The Secrets of Us four stars. My access to the book was on my Kindle Paperwhite, so it monitored the percentage of the book that I had read. I swear, I read 30% of the book in one night because I just could not put it down. The twist at the end (the final one...not the ones leading up to it) caught me off guard.

Part of me felt that this book was just a little bit more predictable than her others, but it may also be me getting used to Lucinda Berry's writing style.

I had also hoped that the book would be a little bit more psychological than it was. I mean, Dr. Berry is a former psychologist, and Nicole ends up experiencing a psychotic break. My obsession with psychology yielded me wishing for more mental health diagnoses and things.

Overall, Lucinda Berry wrote another knockout with The Secrets of Us. You can (and should) preorder it now because you'll definitely want to read it.

This is Dr. Berry's best book! I absolutely loved it. Before you start make sure your day is clear because you won't put this one down. It follows two foster sisters through the trials and tribulations of an attempted murder investigation...the kicker...one of them is in a psychiatric hospital. Highly recommended!!

I have read all of Lucinda Berry’s books they are all real page turners.
This is a great story line about two orphans that become as close as real sisters & look after each other. Nichole & Krystal stick together through thick & thin but disaster strikes when they are at a home with a horrible foster mum & her daughter & this childhood tragedy becomes their secret. But life has a way of catching up with them & their demon & who can expect the twist at the end.......which I found riveting! Please release another book soon these have helped me escape during lockdown & have been a life saver!

I love to read so for a book to really grab me by the throat it has to be exceptional. This is one of those books. The characters had amazing depth and the storyline well written. The author did not shy away in her handling of a variety of difficult subjects - foster care, emotional abuse, psychological trauma, and marital infidelities.

Krystal and Nichole were in foster care together since they were little. They have a tie and bond closer than many biological siblings. The protect each other and keep each other's secrets. Even really big secrets, until one secret goes against right and wrong.

I received an arc of this book and voluntarily provided a review.

Review I enjoyed this book although it was not one of Lucinda Berry's favorite of mine. The book switched from the present to the past life of the sisters to tell the story. I do enjoy books like this as it keeps me wondering what is going on for the plot. To me the ending was not surprising, but still a good read. Every book I have read of hers grabs me from the beginning and keeps me going.

How can one book be a slow burn but also a fast paced, need to know what happens next, mind boggling thrill ride all in one? This book scratched every itch I had, answered the questions I yearned to learn the answer to and gave me a big shocker at the end that I NEVER saw coming. From the first book (The Perfect Child) I ever read by Lucinda Berry, I was completely hooked. No, I was obsessed. Being a Psych major, Lucinda’s background helps her writing tap into that part of my brain that is curious as to why people behave how they do, what makes them tick and most importantly, how their childhood affects their behavior as adults. I have read every book that Lucinda has written and this one is by far my favorite. I would give it 100/10 if I could! Perfectly written and one will have a book hangover for a while from. Every single word had me gasping for more! Phenomenal.
