A definite page-turner, told from multiple point of views. Starting almost at the beginning of the sister's lives you get a good understanding of who they are and what's happening now. That doesn't mean that you won't be kept in suspense though which I loved. The character development was wonderful and I felt like I really got to know their personalities and connected with each.

I was a fan of the different character/timeline chapters! It kept me guessing and that made it even better. This one was a fast “fun” thriller for sure.

This was a book that I ended up not finishing due to lack of interest in content. For that reason I was unable to rate more than one star.

Thanks to NetGalley for providing a digital copy for me to review. Going into this, the only thing I knew was that it was about two sisters. I really enjoyed this dual timeline and POV. It was very thrilling and mysterious. I had a lot of thoughts and predictions and there was sort of a plot twist that I didn't see coming.

We follow two sisters Krystal and Nichole. They aren't really sisters, but they are foster kids who were taken away from their mothers due to prostitution and alcholism. Krystal is taken one night and sent to Mrs. Wheeler who becomes her foster mother for the remainder of her childhood. There she meets Nichole and they become inseperable much to the demise of Mrs. Wheeler's daughter Veronica.

Fast forward to the future, Krystal is now a domestic abuse lawyer and Nichole is a school teacher. One day, Krystal gets a phone call saying that Nichole has been put into a psychiatric hospital and that her brother in law is in the hospital. Nichole burned down her house and tried to kill her husband because she thinks someone has taken over his body and made him into a murderer.

This was very suspenseful. It was a page turner. It flowed nicely through the dual timeline. I wasn't confused at any point and the childhood POV from Nichole was my favorite part of the story because you could understand how they acted the way they did. It also brought up the questions of what actually happened and it was also plot twisty.

As always with Lucinda Berry, this is a gripping read. It's a story that centres around Nichole and Krystal and their relationship. Out of the blue, things spiral out of control for Nichole and Krystal is trying to piece it all together. It's full of sibling love and all that entails. Exciting, easy to read and a twist I didn't see coming until just before it hit! Great book ❤

What a wild ride! The girls' story was so interesting and heartbreaking. Berry wrote the frustration of the situation so well. I truly felt it along with the girls. I would feel like I figured it out and boom, another twist! It was a great book.

4.5 stars.

The Secrets of Us is about a woman who allegedly attempted to murder her husband by burning their house down. It alternates between her and her lawyer sister (I LOVED this character!!).

It was so hard to put down and I never knew what/who to believe. Half of the ending wasn’t entirely unpredictable but the other half was a surprise to me. Absolutely worth reading.

The Secrets of Us by Lucinda Berry is a thriller surrounding sisters and one of them having an emotional breakdown. The book takes you back in time to when they were young and back to the present when one is in a psychiatric hospital. It makes you wonder who is telling the truth and who is lying. Will the truth come out or will she need to remain in the hospital?

This story moves very quickly and between different perspectives/time frames. I thoroughly enjoyed the book, however I do believe there were quite a few pot holes. Despite this, I would very much recommend this book. It is full of unpredictable twists and turns at THE ENDING….

This book is definitely worth a read for any thriller fans. It was my first Berry book and I’ll definitely be picking up another.

Maybe I just need to accept that I don't love Berry's writing but this one was a miss for me. I feel like it started out with an over-the-top portrayal of mental health struggles that I just couldn't get past enough to get into the story.

Look, this isn’t “literature.” It’s a popcorn-thriller, Lifetime-movie of a book. But hey, I thought it was fun and campy. The writing isn’t amazing and the characters didn’t break any molds. As in most thrillers, the main character makes some dumb decisions. However, the short chapters that went back-and-forth between their childhood and the present time kept me engaged and the plot raced along. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this entertaining psychodrama.

I usually enjoy berrys books, but this one was just alright for me. It didn’t really grip me and the twists didn’t particularly wow me much. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a free copy in exchange for review.

Lucinda berry writes the most jaw dropping novels I've ever had the pleasure of reading, nd this i no exception! A story about sisters, secrets lies and somewhere buried is the truth. This had me on the edge of my seat all the way to the fantastic conclusion! Thank you so much!

Do you keep secrets? Who do they hurt?

This book was a very fast read me and there were several twists and turns. I did not see the final one coming and that made the book even better.

Some people complain about needing to suspend belief but this is a fiction book so there should be no need to complain about it. I enjoyed this book and recommend it.

Thank you Netgalleyand Thomas & Mercer for this advanced copy

Secrets make you literally sick. I read this in a day because it moved at a very quick pace, and easily moved back and forth between perspectives and timelines. I liked both main characters; and I wasn't sure where this was going. I did not see the final twist coming and that was the moment that really strained the credibility of the book but I guess psychopaths are resilient (you'll know who I mean once you get there). Fans of Lisa Jewell will definitely like this. Thanks to the publisher and Net Galley for the ARC.

This story started off strong with 2 fostered girls who consider each other as sisters. The married one who seemed to have a perfect life seems to have locked her husband in the bedroom and set fire to the house and is now crazy. I had a bit of trouble with a couple of storylines especially how Aiden was all but dead then he is fairly well, like the next day, walking around, talking, even smiling under his bandages despite severe burns to his face.
Also the part where the police ring and warn Kyrstal to get away from Aiden, get him out of her house but then next morning she visits her sister and he abducts her. Um, did she not check with police that he was arrested of something. There is then and now storylines

Apart from some huge holes and huge stretches in believability the storyline/concept was pretty good and I enjoyed much of the reading.

The author, due to her background, provided an expert look into the lives of children who experience trauma,  are thrown away like trash by their families, endure the shame and mockery by their peers and manage to carry on in life. The baggage they drag along gets heavier and heavier for some.
Two little girls decide to become their own family, having been placed in a foster home together. I do wish an author would write about positive experiences in foster care for a change. These horrific stories, while they make for a sad storyline, also sets an impression in any reader’s mind of ALL foster care. As expected, these girls are mentally abused and physically overworked on the farm where they are placed
These “sisters” are part of a tragedy while in care. The real facts of the incident are disguised but not discarded. One sister has been affected to a greater extent and had battled her demons for a long time. They work hard to become educated individuals with good jobs and model citizens. Their secret is carried through life only to rear its head through a twist of fate that destroys both of their well laid plans.
The descriptives by the author of what the character was experiencing mentally were riveting. The institutions and laws regarding a patient with mental health issues were well defined.
It was especially interesting how the various characters all processed and live with the horrific events that occurred as young girls.
Besides being an exciting read it was also an educational moment  by the author about mental illness.

This book had many twists and turns that kept me wanting to read. I really enjoyed the connection to mental health illness brought on by childhood trauma, as it is extremely important. I never saw the ending coming!

This is the first book I have read by the author and I think it is pretty good. The twists and turns kept me engaged and I was dying to find out the truth. Thank you netgalley for providing me with an arc
