On February 4, 2003, Olivia Ross meets a handsome actor in a coffee shop. They discuss their life goals and make a pact to meet up in 10 years (at which point Olivia will have finished the screenplay she can't stop working on, and he will take a part in it). From there, we catch up with Olivia on February 4 for the next 10 years; over that time she becomes convinced that her mystery actor was Hamish McDougal, who has since skyrocketed to fame.

I thought this was a fun, fresh take on the "one day a year" story, though I was occasionally frustrated with Olivia's choices over her 10 years. The ending did have a titular Plot Twist that I did not see coming (and lately I've been able to predict many of them!) Overall, an enjoyable read, though it does require some suspension of belief, as the things that happen to or involving Olivia on February 4 are often coincidental and not-quite believable.

I was so excited hearing Bethany Turner had a new book coming out. The cover looked awesome. The blurb sounded cute, exciting, and very unique.

From the first page, Bethany’s quick, witty voice shines. Her voice itself deserves five stars. So fun and one of a kind.

The story, however, was a bit confusing. It sounded great, in theory, following a character on the same day for ten years. It was hard to follow and felt strange. The events seemed unbelievable.

The book was just alright, but I’ll definitely pick up Bethany’s future books.

I absolutely loved this book. I cannot wait to share my review with my followers! I loved that this book gave me characters I could relate to, a plot I could devour, and a satisfactory ending. I think I read this book in one setting, and it's because I just couldn't get enough of the main characters. I really enjoyed the journeys of the main character, and I especially enjoyed the evolution the main character underwent. I thought the writing and the plot was developed very organically, and that the development really gave the reader something to look forward to. I really felt like this was a feel good book, and I really liked that the story played out over a decade. Overall, just a really fun, relatable story with awesome characters.

Ok, so I used to very much be a fantasy only reader, but then I started dipping my toes into a bit more romance, and I won't lie the more "Rom-Com" type of books are one of my favorites in the Romance genre. I was so excited when I got approved for this ARC via NetGalley, because this SCREAMED Rom-Com, and it delivered for the most part.

So I'd like to start with talking about Olivia. I think she's a phenomenal character...at times. As a thirty year old woman who has self esteem issues and issues in pursuing life goals that seem like a pipe dream, she really resonated with me. But she seemed to stay that way over the course of ten years, which first off, I hope that those life hurdles don't stay with me that long but I feel like we didn't get enough outside of just February 4th of each year to really see her in any other light, so I feel like she had trouble developing as a person until towards the end of the book. But at the same time I understand the choice to really hone in on just February 4th.

Even though we got one date over the span on ten years to take a peek into Olivia, Fiona, and Liam's life, I feel like it did a great job of keeping the plot moving and being a very unique way to setup a book. I don't think I ever read a book the centered on one day a year for a span of ten years.

Now let me take a minute to talk about well...the romance or love journey. I figured Olivia was going to go on a twisty journey from the beginning (title of the book giving that a way a bit) but I didn't expect there to be this weird love triangle. Don't get me wrong, I literally felt my heart pounding when the whole coming back from Italy and THE DINNER, oh my god, I felt it. It was terrible, but it just felt a bit that the whole love triangle kind of went on for a really really long time, which I felt like was a tad much.

I found the ending to be a bit predictable, especially towards the end, I figured the man she met wasn't going to be Hamish but props for making him someone I really didn't expect, and it totally bummed me out that even HE wasn't the final, but I could tell who was Olivia's OTP by like half way through the book, and it made sense, and just seeing that journey, for me was pretty enjoyable.

I had a really good time with this read, although one would probably call it a very slow burn, it's a clean and fun romance, that I actually flew through. Would I call it an all time fave? Not necessarily but if I was looking for something to entertain me and really just give me an enjoyable quick read, yes, yes, a thousand times yes!

Set over ten years, on the 4th February, the book follows Olivia, a struggling screenwriter.
Some surprises I was not expecting towards the end of the book, although Olivia did annoy me at times.

I really liked this book. It was a fun escape. It had some twists & turns that I wasn’t expecting. It was a quick, fun read.

All's well that ends well. I really liked the book but there were several times I really wanted to throw it across the room. This book is a roller coaster of emotions. Olivia, Fiona and Liam are all great characters. They are all lovable in different ways and frustrating in different ways. The friendships are unbreakably strong.

I’ve had a bit of a journey with Bethany Turner’s books. When her first book released I passed on the chance to review it, not sure if I really wanted to know The Secret Life of Sarah Hollenbeck. But the rave reviews were coming in so I eventually bought it and thoroughly enjoyed it! Then I was wooed by the plot and cover of Wooing Cadie Macaffery and I liked it even more than the first book! Then came Hadley Beckett’s Next Dish which was absolutely delicious and her best yet! So to say I was excited for this book and hoping it was going to be even better is an understatement, but, Plot Twist, this book really missed the mark for me.
The unique premise sounded really intriguing at the start but in reality having a book take place over a decade yet only getting to see a single day of each year got old rather quickly. It was like a Groundhog Day but instead of the exact same day it was just a day once a year that you spent waiting for a major shoe to drop and blow everything up. It was kind of interesting though to see just how much life could change in 365 days though!
I didn’t have any strong opinions about the heroine either way, she had her good moments and bad, though she did seem kind of overly focused on herself and how circumstances would affect her which didn’t endear her to me.
There seemed to be a lot of options for who would play the “hero” of this book and sadly I really wasn’t a fan of any of them. For the first few years I was rooting for one guy but then he made some choices I didn’t love (I have a bone to pick with guys who have a girlfriend but then kiss girls who are not said girlfriend) and he lost my vote pretty quickly.
The author did keep you guessing throughout as to how things would end, was it gonna be this guy, or that guy, or no guy?
All in all while this may be the lighthearted fun book some people are looking for and will love, it just wasn’t for me at all.

February 4, 2003 should be any other day for Olivia Ross, a greeting card writer who is struggling to complete her own screen play.
But when she enters an LA coffee shops she has a "near magic" encounter with a struggling actor and they make a spontaneous pact: in ten years time they'll return to the same coffee house to make a film together.

Over the next ten years Olivia finds February 4 is an exceptional day, full of weird coincidences and ironies.

I was drawn to this plot because it felt like an LA version of One Day, one of my all-time favourite novels, but the whole thing just fell flat for me. I didn't really connect with any of the main characters and I didn't root at all for the main love interest (which in a rom-com type novel is a bit of a shame). It also tried to shoehorn a subplot of the power female friendship but it felt a bit halfhearted.

I know most books require a certain level of suspension of disbelief, but for one supposedly set in the real world, it had far too many coincidence to feel like it flowed properly. A solidly average read, the writing style was comfortable and some people might enjoy the cutesy plot, but for me it just didn't work.

Plot Twist is the newest by Bethany Turner, Christian rom-com author queen. Olivia Ross is a greeting card writer who hopes to become a screenwriting. On February 4th, 2003, she meets a man who rescues her from another man hitting on her at a coffeehouse. They agree to meet in another ten years when he will star in her screenplay. For the next ten years, we see how Olivia’s life is every year as she experiences up in downs in love and in her relationship with her best friend, Fiona.
Plot Twist a great idea for a book and has many of Bethany Turner’s fun batter conversations. I enjoyed the first part of the book, but was frustrated at some of the choices made by the characters. I ended up feeling bad for Olivia that it took her ten long years to get together with her true love. I also felt that the book was missing what Bethany Turner has done well in other books-bringing life changing faith to a main character.
Overall, I would recommend Plot Twist as a fun read and I did think that only Bethany Turner could write a book in such a unique format and leave the reader guessing who Olivia would end up with as her love.
I received a complimentary copy of Plot Twist thanks to Thomas Nelson, but all opinions are my own.

Read this if you:
· can handle the frustrations of a missed-connections love story
· want to be part of a class-action lawsuit against Alanis Morissette for miseducating a whole generation about irony
· are a procrastinator who has put off completing something for a decade (and then found it actually took much less time to really finish)

Synopsis:
On February 4, 2003, Olivia Ross is at her favourite coffee house working on her screenplay passion project. While there, she has a magical encounter with a stranger who is a struggling actor. The two agree to meet back at the same place on the same date, in ten years to give them both the opportunity to create the film. After parting ways without even exchanging names, Olivia is left to spend the next decade both looking forward to and dreading February 4th, an exceptional day that every year seems to be filled with many coincidences and even more irony.

My thoughts on the book:
The best part of this book is (not shockingly) the plot twist, so I don’t want to say much and give anything away! This story reminded me initially of ‘One Day in December’ (which I loved!), but it quickly took on a distinctively different storyline. The writing in this book was so exceptional, I felt myself feeling a lot of second-hand regret for Olivia, as if the repercussions of her decisions were ones I had to deal with myself. I found this book to be a cute and enjoyable quick read and I appreciated that while everything tied up nicely in the end, it wasn’t as predictable as it seemed like it would be!

I LOVED this book! It was another laugh out loud, hilarious read from Bethany Turner. I've loved every one of her books, and this one was no different. It was awesome. I didn't think there was any possible way Turner could top Hadley Beckett's Next Dish, but she somehow did.

I was so totally invested in this book. I felt like I was in the story with these wonderful characters. Olivia was such a personable narrator. I experienced every emotion she did. Good, bad, and everything in between. Her lifelong friendship with Fiona was so sweet and genuine. Fi was the epitome of a best friend and I loved reading about all of her various fancy jobs. But my absolute favorite character was Liam. His dreaminess kinda snuck up on me and I ended up having a major crush on him.

I never knew what was gonna happen next, and I was so curious about what new crazy, absurd, and ironic things would happen to Olivia on the next February 4. Was some suspension of belief required for a few of the things that happened? Yes, but I thought those parts were so much fun. Would those things ever happen? No, probably not. But isn't it fun to imagine that it could?

I was left with the best kind of book hangover when I finished. I wanted to read it again immediately. If you're a fan of romantic comedies, Plot Twist is a must read. It felt like a wonderful and highly entertaining homage to all the great rom-coms through the years. I highly, highly recommend it.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

3.5 stars. Mainly because I apparently don’t watch enough movies/tv to understand all 9479 pop culture references.
It was a decent story. Like I said, I just didn’t get it. I knew there would be pop culture references,( I follow the author on social media: she’s a pop culture junkie) but I didn’t think there would be so many, to the point I couldn’t keep track of the REAL plot.
If you don’t live under a rock, like I seem to, you might love this book. Me, not so much. This is well written, but not for me. Definitely a case of “It’s not you; it’s me.”

I received a copy of this book from the publisher in order to facilitate a review. All opinions are my own and I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise.

I loved the synopsis of this book, but ultimately my hopes may have been a little high. I didn't realize before getting this arc that it was a clean romance, and clean is generally not my preference. That's obviously not the author's fault, but the payoff just wasn't there for me, especially after following these characters for a decade. I just couldn't relate to the characters and found them frustrating at times. This was a quick read though, and fun, just not necessarily what I was looking for.

Plot Twist is the first book that I have read by Bethany Turner and I would definitely read more by her in the future. Olivia & Hamish’s story was an easy read that kept me engaged.

I voluntarily reviewed this book.

Plot Twist is nothing if not masterful. Summarily, I’d describe it as a mildly frustrating love-triumphs-in-the-end comedy of errors spanning a decade. But it is a great story with one of the best resolutions I’ve ever read and a super clever plot device where each chapter is essentially the same date each year the book covers. I think it would make a fantastic movie and hope it gets optioned.

This book is clearly a sis-mance (feminine bromance) - the characters themselves call it out towards the end in case you somehow miss it. So, on one hand, it doesn’t add up that the relationship between the girlfriends seems to feature as secondary to the unfolding love interest arcs. However, on the other hand, the understated constancy of their friendship validates the author’s mastery in getting the point across, foreground notwithstanding. The ultimate story-in-a-story.

This is my third Bethany Turner book and it only just cements to me how good an author she is. You may not like the characters, you might not agree with their choices, they might be a bit too human for you; but you will be pulled into the story, and you will have no doubt that you are partaking of quality storytelling.

Plot Twist gets 4.3 stars from me. I wondered a bit about the absence of Jesus. I personally would’ve loved more ‘spiritual’ content. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This book lived up to it's name because there were so many plot twists I had a fun time reading it. Plot Twist is about a greeting card writer meeting an actor and they make a pact to meet back up in 10 years and he would be in her screenplay she is writing. Soon, the date turns into Ironic Day and lots of mishaps happen every year.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and can't wait to recommend it to my friends. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I love a good chic lit book. They are my escape from the craziness of the real world. This book checked all the boxes. It was cute, the main characters were quirky and there actually was a twist!

If you are looking for a cute, fun beach read - look no further!

This was a fun and engaging read. It was cute in that classic romcom and it was refreshing to see a main character put in the work to grow. Some secondary characters were a bit annoying but as a whole it was a fun read.
