Plot Twist by Bethany Turner provides a sweet balance of humorous, romantic, emotional, and ultimately satisfying. The book has a bit of a Groundhog Day premise but instead of reliving the same day, we follow Olivia Ross on February 4th over a ten year period. Olivia feels a bit stuck as a her predictable job as a greeting card author. She is in a coffee shop where she meets a cute aspiring actor and they make a pact to return in ten years with some big dreams accomplished.

Olivia soon determines that the aspiring actor she met is the newly famous Hamish MacDougal. In true rom-com fashion Olivia has multiple unexpected interactions with Hamish but her life proceeds and is full of hijinks thanks to her friends, Liam and Fiona. Ultimately, however the big unknown is what will happen if and when Olivia and Hamish keep their planned meeting on 2/4/2013.

No spoilers obviously, but Turner does not disappoint and delivers a delightful cast of characters, fun dialogue, and truly powerful friendships that eclipse the uncertainty of a future date with a movie star. Plus, as time goes on you start to wonder if perhaps Olivia is living too much for the future while ignoring her present,

This book was such a fun read. I throughly enjoyed seeing what “The Date” brought each year. Was it going to be a good day or a disaster? Bethany Turner did a fabulous job with this story.

I like books with a little gimmick, so a romance story told across years by visiting the main character on the same day every year seemed like just the thing for me. Unfortunately, that little gimmick was pretty much the only thing I liked.

On February 4, 2003 Olivia has a meet-cute in a coffee shop with a struggling actor. They don't exchange names or contact info, but they make plans to meet up in ten years' time in that same coffee shop, she with a finished movie script and he with a bunch of Academy Awards. Olivia soon becomes convinced that the guy she met is Hamish McDougal, Hollywood's newest leading man. For the next ten years, Olivia's life never really falls into place. She never finishes her script and she keeps having typical rom-com moments on February 4, a day she believes to be absolutely cursed for her. Exes, best friends, Hamish McDougal, they all seem to work together to make every February 4 the absolute worst day ever.

If this book hadn't done what it did at the very end, I probably would've enjoyed it more. As it is, I spent half the book hating Olivia and the other half hating everyone in Olivia's life. I questioned her and her friend's sanity for turning this cute coffee shop moment from all those years ago into some sort of epic love story. And then the ending managed to tie all the story threads into a neat little bow, but also felt like an epic let-down.

Greeting card writer Olivia is an aspiring screenwriter. In a meet cute on February 4, an aspiring actor barrels into her life and the two plan to meet in 10 years at the same coffee shop after they (hopefully) have become successful. The only problem is Olivia forgets to get the stranger's name. Plot Twist checks in on Olivia every February 4th in that 10 year span, but a lot can change in 10 years.

I really enjoyed the friendship between Olivia and Fiona. They supported each other through thick and thin, even if the landscape of their lives and friendship shifted with age and time.

Unfortunately, the premise was promising, but the book fell flat for me. Checking in on only one day each year led to not a ton of character development. It felt a little repetitive year after year.

This book has the cutest cover. This book was a miss for me. The premise seemed intriguing, but I didn't love the characters.

A beautiful book about fate and destiny. February 4th, what an iconic date for Olivia Ross. One day, at the local cafe, Olivia is working away on her screenwriting, and runs into an aspiring actor. The two flirt about, and decide that ten years later, they will come back into the same cafe and collab. Olivia knows nothing about this guy, not even in name. After running into that aspiring actor on Feb 4th, 2003, every single year, Olivia is dealt with all sorts of chaos when it comes to her love life. She is working away on that script for Feb 4th, 2013, when she runs into the sexy Irish actor again. However, she gets so caught up with that actor and writing that perfect script, that she does not realize the romance happening right in front of her. LIAM IS THE DREAM BOYFRIEND PEOPLE! A very entertaining read for all you rom-com lovers.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and really liked how each chapter was written for the same date over 10 years. It has all the elements of a rom-com without being a regular rom-com. I think the characters were written well and worked perfectly as their characters.
This book has plenty of emotions that suck you in completely and have you rooting and cheering. Definitely recommend!

With a beautiful hallmark feel to this story, I was instantly hooked. Turner gives us this fresh, stunning protagonist with big ambitions and show us a huge romance adventure, one of the most amazing ones I've read in books.

I enjoyed this book. The story was different from most books in that it told the story only on one day of the year for ten years. Sometimes I wondered where she was going with it, but I really enjoyed how she wrapped it up at the end. Give it a try, but you have to finish it to appreciate it!

I was looking forward to reading this book because I have enjoyed some of her other rom coms. Unfortunately for me the format of a chapter catching me up on the life once a year didn't draw me into the story. I pick up contemporary romance because I want that banter, I want to witness the relationship develop, I want to be in the moment. This wasn't the book for me. Perhaps if you like books that are formulated more like a once a year diary entry, you would like this.

The title of the story is so appropriate; I didn't think I was going to enjoy it but, PLOT TWIST, I really did! Olivia was a fun character to read and I enjoyed spanning a decade with her.

I absolutely love the cover of this book and the premise too! And I love that it centers around a chance meeting at a coffee shop. Talk about the perfect set up for an epic story! Unfortunately the characters were a little frustrating at times and I wished it had been 5 years since some of the book dragged on a bit. I did like the big moment 10 years later and the ending!

I really liked this Christian book! If you think it sounds interesting, I would definitely recommend trying it!

February fourth somehow ends up in a mess every year for Olivia Ross. However, this might change this year. Or next year. Or the year after. Or will it? Plot twist?! I am not going to tell you anymore. Find out for yourself. But February fourth certainly is something special!

Olivia and Liam go way back. And they are always there for each other no matter what. Or maybe not no matter what. Something could change their relationship forever. However, I love the relationship between them.

Fiona pushes Olivia to get out and to talk to some people. Some could say that she makes her better as well. They become very close and move in together. I love it when they are being truly honest with each other. That is what a healthy friendship looks like!

Everything loops back to the same thing in this book.

The writing style is indeed perfect and engaging. The language is warm, beautiful and lovely. I love that everything circles back to February 4th and how everything surrounds the same characters and somewhat the same storyline every year. It keeps you as a reader engaging and wants to read more.

Also, the element of the greeting cards in between every chapter is absolutely amazing! It is such a cute detail and it sure makes the story even more exciting and engaging somehow. Also, the greeting cards are pretty cute and hilarious.

This is a very cute story. I really enjoyed this one. This summer, "Plot twist" should be the book you read!

I really dislike not finishing a book, especially when given an ARC book to review.

I liked the writing style and the plot sounded really interesting, but I was unable to really get into it. I have a rule of thumb that I follow - read around pg 100 and see how I feel about it.

Plot Twist by Bethany Turner was a sweet rom-com, perfect for fans of Kerry Winfrey and Helena Hunting. Plot Twist is a heartwarming story of second chances, family love, father daughter relationships, and pursuing your dreams, and I loved how the story followed screenwriting in particular. This romance was the perfect book for the second half of summer vacation.

I struggled with this book a little. I love Bethany Turner’s books, and this was hilarious as always, but the format was different and I struggled to like the main character. Still a great book, though.
