Are they Trailing a Killer or is the killer trailing them?

Erin Jeffries is shocked to uncover her former high school flame in the aftermath of a hurricane, he has been trying to stay out of the path of a killer bent on taking him out. Can Erin and Cody stop the killer before its too late?

An engaging read, with likable characters and a clever canine. I liked that Erin encouraged Cody to rethink his stance on faith, as well as how they work together to make it out alive. They had good interaction, and I liked that her family welcomed him into their lives.

Overall, this was a quick read, enjoyable, filled with mystery and suspense.

This is a Suspense Clean Romance, and this is the second book in the K-9 Search and Rescue series. I love the characters in this book, and the storyline keep you wanting to read the book. There is not a ton of romance, but the two main characters where so good together. I books with dogs in them, and Alcee the rescue dog in this book, I love so much. I did not guess the ending, and it was so good. I really enjoyed this book. This book was page-turning, gripping, and heartwarming. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Love Inspired Suspense) or author (Carol J. Post) via NetGalley, so I can give honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

This book was an ok read and my first book by Ms. Post.
I like how she brought something different to this story and her characters were A ok too.
I think my favorite thing about this series is how they use the K-9's to help and be their partners. I think it's truly amazing how they can train these dogs to do this kind of work.
My 2nd favorite thing is the mystery part of the story. It makes you want to turn the pages quickly to see what happens to the characters on their journey to help solve whatever crime has been committed and sometimes I like how the author comes up with the idea to make the story happen.
This is a fast read and will keep your attention throughout the book. I finished it one hour because it was so interesting.
I recommend!
My thanks to Harlequin Publishers for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review and all opinions are my own.

Trailing a Killer (K-9 Search and Rescue #2). By Carol J. Post. 2021. Love Inspired Suspense (ARC eBook).

After a hurricane, police detective and search and rescue volunteer Erin Jeffries searches a collapsed building with her K-9 Alcee. They find one survivor, Cody Elbourne, who is Erin’s ex-boyfriend. Cody’s grandfather however, didn’t survive. What was first assumed to be a causality of the hurricane quickly becomes evident of set explosions. Now someone seems hell-bent on taking out the sole survivor and witness.

The romance element of Trailing a Killer is the second-chance at love between Erin and Cody. Both hardworking and independent people who have had some bad experiences in the romance department since the last time these two were together. There are some explosions, arson, gunfire and canine heroics from Alcee to ratchet up the action. Overall an entertaining read for those who like a bit of a slower pace and Christine tones to their mystery suspense.

Who is Erin? Where does she live and what does she do for a living? What has recently happened in the location that we find her? Who and what is Alcee? Who is Cody? How do they all meet? Is this the first time? Who dies and how? What happened at the location? How do they know? What strange things keep happening? I did not expect some of the things that happened. Holy smokes, the person behind all the suspense was not whom I expected!! Why did they do the things they did? What is the deal with the key we hear about at least 2 times in the story? This story would not let me stop reading until I was finished!

I don't believe I've read anything by Carol J. Post so this was a fun first experience, and I'm loving the K9 themed stories lately from the LIS publication line!

I loved the mystery and characters in this one, and can't wait to read more by this author!

Sorry but this book just doesn’t work for me.
Erin is a detective and Cody is a contractor. He doesn’t listen to her and does stupid things that put him in danger.
If there is a killer out there and strange incidents are happening to me, I’m going to listen to the police.
This was too unbelievable for me.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an arc in exchange for my honest review.

Detective Erian and her K-9 is helping out a survivor caught under a collapsed building. Little did she expect this blast from the past seeing that person is her ex, Cody Elbourne. After a couple of straight occurrences, its clear this was no accident and someone is after Cody. Now Erin will do everything she can to protect him and try to keep her heart out of it.

I enjoyed this book there was plenty going on to keep me hooked. I loved seeing that bit of romance between the two clearly they had something that never really went out and I enjoyed seeing how that played out and appreciate that this book remained clean. I love seeing everything getting pieced together and how it call came out in the end it was just such a fun read I kept wondering when something would happen next.

Trailing a Killer by Carol Post is a great romantic suspense. Erin is a detective and volunteers with search and rescue. She find her ex in a building after a hurricane. However they soon realize the building disaster was not a natural disaster but from an explosive that someone took advantage of during the storm.

I enjoyed how the couple reacquainted themselves with each other. And how they were so cute together.

The author kept us on our toes and they are trying to find our who set the explosives. And who kept taking shots at Cody.

Although part of a series the book reads well on its own.

I received this book from Netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review.

Detective Erin Jeffries is pleased and relieved when she and her K9 Alcee find two people under the rubble of a collapsed building after a category 3 hurricane hit their Florida town,. She's shocked when she realizes that one of the men she save is Cody, who was her boyfriend when they were teens. And even more shocked when it turns out that the building was actually blown up. Was someone targeting Cody's grandfather, who died as a result? No, someone is after Cody. Erin, Alcee, and Cody find themselves untangling the mystery while trying to stage safe- and falling for one another. This is a novel which is faith inspired so there's no steam but there is good friendship. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. This has good characters (even Alcee!), a plot where I didn't guess the answer to the mystery, and smooth storytelling- you'll be turning the pages.

"Trailing a Killer" is a Christian romantic suspense novel. I liked that Cody never questioned Erin's abilities as a cop. When he resisted her suggestions on how to stay safe, it wasn't because he thought her incompetent or that he knew better but because he didn't like his freedom being restricted and financially needed to keep working. After she was proven correct several times, he was willing to follow her suggestions because he realized that the situation was serious and she could keep him alive. The romance started back when they were young, but they parted and had some really bad romantic experiences that put them off dating and marriage. As they got to know each other again, they realized what a relationship between them could offer might be worth the risk.

The main characters were thoughtful, likable, and reacted realistically to events. Suspense was created by multiple attempts to kill Cody while Erin's investigation kept hitting dead ends. Erin found strength and healing in God. Cody initially wasn't interested in religion, though he was curious about why Erin believed since she didn't need a religious crutch. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I really enjoyed the story and would highly recommend it.
