For Your Own Good by Samantha Downing is a compelling mystery, full of complex characters and a wonderfully crafted setting. Downing knows exactly how to hook her readers and keep them flipping the pages long after the sunsets. Downing explores new territory in her writing, balancing multiple perspectives and character ages, all while maintaining a very distinct narrative voice. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel, and look forward to the day I have another Downing thriller to rush through.

This book was a lot of fun to read! I love books set in schools that are not YA and leaning towards a dark academia genre. I really enjoyed knowing what was going on the whole time instead of trying to solve the mystery. I liked being in the heads of all of the characters and watch how it all played out in the end. I think this is one that thriller lovers are going to enjoy because it is so different from the rest.

Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review.

Love thrillers set at swanky prestigious private schools!! This one didn’t disappoint. Every single character had some pretty major flaws, and no one was entirely likable, but it worked! Recipient of the Teacher of the Year Award Teddy will do anything to keep his students in line and focused...even blackmail? Lie? Murder? A quick and thrilling read.

It's a murderous, twisty, lying, betrayal-filled comedy of errors - what's not to love? Where there silly and oversimplified events? Sure. Do those events take away from the overall surprisingly fun read? Nope, not even a little.

Teddy Crutcher is an amazing teacher, just ask him. After all, he’s just won the the prestigious Teacher of the Year award. His wife must be so proud, although no one knows for sure, because no one has seen her for a long time. And what about the parent whose death is looking more and more like murder or the student who has become obsessed with Teddy’s personal life? Teddy just finds it all to be so tiresome; his job is to teach, and no one better get in his way. Super creepy, reminded me of my 4th grade math teacher who still gives me nightmare to this day

If this book isn’t already on your to-read list, add it now! This book was a thrill ride right from the start for me. I couldn’t put it down! Every chapter had me wondering what was going to happen next. I love all of Samantha Downing’s books, but this one is by far my favorite! Thanks to Berkley for the gifted e-ARC!
