Great collection of women in many different roles. As a mother of a middle schooler, I find this book of short descriptions of each women a good fit for all. Some readers will find this easily digestible and may go on to read more in depth books about each of these women learning more details of each. Some readers, this is a good short read about meaningful, strong, women! The illustrations are amazing and even I learned a few new things.

The authors of this collection have taken some earlier stories from earlier Rebel Girls stories, and combined them to honor Kamala Harris being elected vice president of the United States. It is such a glass ceiling breaking moment that they felt that they had to come out with her story and put out stories of other leading rebel girls.

So many strong, amazing women from around the world are covered in this illustrated one page biographies that give you a taste of what makes them famous. With a mix of current and historic women any reader can get a good sense of what makes these women special.

I love that the book is so up to date that we have Stacey Abrams, the activist from Georgia in this group.

It might surprise you to find Lady Gaga in there, but she is featured for what she has done for the LGBTQ community.

Great book to introduce teens to some women who have made a difference both in the past and in the present and the future.

I keep giving this series a try. Over and over. Every time I'm hopeful. And every time I'm disappointed. I should know better by now. The authors are so biased in who they include in their "rebel girls." It's actually sad to me that they can't set aside their partisanship to include leaders across cultures and religions that they clearly don't agree with. I love that this includes women from so many differing nations, ages, backgrounds, and cultures. Except Christianity. Except conservative female leaders. Take a look at the 25 women. There is a clear bias here. And it makes me sad. I'd love to teach my daughter about these rebel girl leaders...but also ones who reflect our own belief system. I am not attempting to bias her at all. I love her seeing strong women from all walks of life and all cultures. But clearly, these aren't the books to show her that.

Also, I think the descriptions of each woman is far too brief. It doesn't give girls a clear picture of the hard work that goes in to leadership.

I enjoyed reading this book - and looking at all of the great artwork. I learned about many women leaders that were new to me - and I also learned interesting information about female leaders that I did know.

This is a valuable and wonderful book for all families. My daughters loved reading this book. We all felt empowered and excited to learn more about these amazing women who lead. We highly recommend this delightful book.

This is my second Rebel Girls book and I loved it just as much as the first one I read!

So many different women are represented in this book! From Lady Gaga to Kamala Harris to Oprah Winfrey, these women are all AMAZING. They believe in changing their country so that it will be a place for everyone. Although society is not yet where it should be, these women have made a start to it.

This book is gorgeous! It’s filled with inspirational woman, some of which I’m embarrassed to say I hadn’t heard of. As a teacher and a mother to a daughter- I can say this is such an important resource! The descriptions are brief but just enough to educate and peak your interest. The illustrations and quotes are beautiful. I love that this book includes a quiz for girls to figure out what kind of leader they are. Might be cool to someday add the social media handles so that young girls can “follow” these brilliant women online!

Rebel Girls Lead, perhaps, and Rebel Publishers recycle. This hit the ground running in order to celebrate Kamala Harris becoming the first female Veep in the US, and while it touches on President Biden's running-mate it generally sticks, by its own admission, to revisiting a few stories from the first few Rebel books. So, in very scattershot way, we jump from gymnast to Angela Merkel, from indigenous Mexican politicians hardly on the tips of people's tongues, to Malala Yousafzai. Every entrant gets the same one-page biography, a one-page portrait (perpetually created by a female artist), a pull-quote and a birth date/death date line, and that's it. Easy, but also welcome – these books are actually a lot quieter than you might think in how they just present success story after success story, and let them combine to show the fact that anything is possible.

Wow, what a phenomenal book! This installation of the Rebel Girls series does not disappoint! Rebel Girls Lead is a beautiful collection featuring a huge variety of women all over the world throughout history who have made their mark in a number of leadership positions, whether in government, activism, business, sports, etc. It details their careers and actions they've taken in a succinct, readable way. It shows how leadership can take many forms. This book is also beautifully illustrated. I loved how children can imagine their own future and determine their strengths through the Leader quiz at the end. Children will love this and be so inspired!

Let's be honest, women rock, but they don't really get celebrated like they should be. Often throughout history women have been overshadowed, and their achievements have been ignored, and sadly this still happens today. Thankfully, books like Rebel Girls Lead exist to help highlight women who have achieved amazing things.

This book covers twenty five women from recent times who have excelled in personal achievement, and some who have gone on to change the world for thousands of people. The book has fourteen previously published figures, as well as eleven all new women to celebrate.

Within the pages of this book you'll find brief one page descriptions of some well known people like Angela Merkel, Queen Elizabeth I, Lady Gaga, and Kamala Harris, as well as some figures that you might never have heard of before such as Leymah Gbowee, Rigoberta Menchu Tum, and Wilma Mankiller. Whilst the book is aimed at younger readers the variety of people it's celebrating means that even adults will learn something from it. There were several people in the book that I'd never heard of before, and the book spurred me on to go away and read more about these amazing women.

That's really what this book is about, inspiring you to learn more about these overlooked figures, these amazing women who have achieved amazing things. Whilst the descriptions in this book as basic, giving you a broad overview of their lives and achievements, it encourages you to learn more about them, and other women too. It's a gateway into a whole area of history that you may never have considered before, and the lack of knowledge of some of these people will make you want to change how often women get forgotten, and strive for equality.

The book is also filled with some amazing artwork, and each person covered in it gets their own portrait, each done by a different artist with their own unique style. These images capture the essence of these women, and it makes the book way more interesting than just filling it with photographs.

Rebel Girls Lead is a great book for any child who wants to learn a little bit about history, as well as any kid who wants to be inspired to push themselves to achieve their dreams. The book is full of stories of people who were told they couldn't do something, who were in situations that they thought would limit them, yet achieved amazing feats; and it's perfect to inspire that kind of drive and determination, no matter what your gender.

Representation matters to us, to the ones that will follow us and hopefully outdo our fantastic achievements with even more greatness. I love these books as they successfully blend the more identifiable figures with lesser known but just as worthy subjects together to celebrate what can be achieved by the inspirational women that have forged on to smash through whatever barriers were placed in front of them.

A great leader not only inspires now but for evermore through their actions and this latest addition highlights new stories and some collected from previous volumes. These literary snapshots show young readers they can be whoever they want to be and are the perfect stepping stone for further investigation into the full biography of the subjects.

This book was a well designed collection of inspiring women showcasing diverse accomplishments, backgrounds, and time periods. Each woman featured in the book is given a short narrative of how they overcame the world and became inspirations. The book includes illustrations of the women next to their biography with an inspirational quote. I think the illustrations and narrations were well done and can be easily receptive by kids in an engaging and educational manor. The end of the book allows space for students to brain storm the impact they could leave on the world, along with some encouraging questions of how to be a leader. I would recommend this to anyone with kids, especially girls, looking for a good book featuring role models. It could easily be used in my classroom and I hope it does.

I think very highly of the Rebel Girls brand and the content they produce, and this short collection is no different. This book is a great starting point for younger readers (of any gender, let’s be real) to pique interest in strong women leaders and encourage further research into their stories and accomplishments. I am PUMPED to see Pat Summitt included - she was my hero growing up and I didn’t even fully grasp what she did for women in sports until I was older. I’m also so proud to see Kamala Harris with her new title included, which will be officially official by the time this book is published! The artwork is beautiful and is created by women...I just feel so empowered when reading this and hopeful for our world; even though this book is clearly geared towards younger readers, it still affects adults :) I definitely recommend this book and will be buying it for my niece when she starts to read!

This is an important topic that I will be sharing with my daughter and her friends. Enjoyed the vignette style and the lively illustration.

I'm absolutely in love with the concept of the Rebel Girls series. I have gifted the "Good Night Stories" many times, but I'm a bit embarrassed to say this is the first I've sat down and read one myself. The "Rebel Girls Lead" installment is sort of greatest hits bonus collection, as it contains 14 previously-published stories plus 11 brand new ones. Written in fairytale style, middle grade readers will learn about:

Now if you've read that list of women's names, you've surely clued into the fact that the authors lean left (to put it mildly). Even though I do as well, I wish the book felt a little more bipartisan so it wouldn't alienate a large faction of readers. There is so much power in the notion of inspiring young girls to do great things, and that message should (and can) be universal. Maybe that's wishful thinking on my part, but this is a book of fairytales after all.

Every one-page story has an accompanying portrait of its subject, each done by a different female illustrator from all over the world. LOVE. THAT. The book concludes with a spread for girls to write their own stories and draw self portraits, a What Kind of Leader Are You quiz, and Leadership Training exercises (e.g. "Get Ready to Protest!").

Would I gift a Rebel Girls book again now that I've read one? Absolutely. I'm just now more aware that some recipients may find the content heavy-handed in opposition to their own viewpoints.

Rebel Girls Lead tells the story of many women in politics and activism, who are changing the world by their leadership and strength. I absolutely loved it, I'm so looking forward to reading the rest of this series and might've spilled some tears...

The diversity here was so important so young girls can see themselves in someone who made it big and paved the path for us. Of course, it did romanticize much of politics and activism because it is for kids and it has only one page per woman.

I wish it had hundreds and hundreds of pages about these women. Couldn't recommend it more.

This was cute, but you can only tell so much on one page. And important parts were cut out of stories, maybe because the authors felt they were "too mature" or maybe because they just didn't want to rewrite them from earlier books - like Aly Raisman taking a stand against abuse or Ann Richards' daughter becoming a crusader for women's health. But then talking about violence Harriet Tubman and Malala endured or about Lady Gaga's history of abuse was fine? Which like... either trust kids to be able to handle difficult details, or don't include any? In general I think kids in the target age range for this can handle more difficult subjects than the book gives them credit for (which I can fully attest to from reading way more detailed books about some of these woman at that young age lol). Idk it was confusing to me.
The shortness of the biographies also resulted in some confusing history - like the way Queen Elizabeth's I story was told made it seem like she was the daughter of Henry VIII's first wife and then he had a second wife and that's it?
I did really like the features on activism at the end though!

An incredibly powerful foreword to an equally powerful book. This was the first Rebel Girls book I have read and it did not disappoint. Featuring inspirational women from all different walks of life, Rebel Girls Lead is a vibrant and powerful read. One cannot fail to be uplifted by the stories of personal and professional triumph encapsulated within its pages.

There were many things I loved about this book. Firstly, there is an incredibly diverse range of women featured: diverse in ethnicity, diverse in background and diverse in profession. The short biographies are child-friendly and accessible. The illustrations are breath-taking, each one created by a different female illustrator, offering a range of styles and colour palettes to suit the person profiled. The book is interactive with a quiz at the end and space for children to write their own story.

This book has a place on every classroom bookshelf and I very much look forward to adding it to mine. Thank you to NetGalley for affording me the opportunity to read this inspirational, motivational and educational piece of literature.

When will there ever be a Rebel Girls book for which I don't write the feedback as "fantastic"? Never!!!

I have read and loved the first three volumes of the Rebel Girls series and this special edition continues in the same format. The book informs little ones about 25 extraordinary leaders who had humble beginnings and worked hard to make their dreams come true. While some of the names are historical and some have been included in the earlier books, there are eleven noteworthy new names added in this edition. I was especially happy to see the inclusion of Jacinda Ardern and Kamala Harris in the Rebel family.

As always, a wonderful read and a worthy addition to your little one's library.

I love this book and believe it is perfect for any young teen. It provides the story of successful females that empowers the young mind. It includes activities that the teens can do to see what kind of activist they are. Also there is a page for the teen to add themselves to the book and write a short description about themselves. Overall I think this is a perfect gift for any teen to help motivate them to dream bigger.
