This is a great tool to get kids interested in cooking! I was expecting more kid-friendly food but I was pleased with the array of recipes. It has a lot of healthy recipes and ideas to get kids helping. I liked the family anecdotes as it really made the book feel personal. As a fan of the blog, I was excited to read the cookbook! It didn’t disappoint. My thanks to the publisher for the advance reader in exchange for my honest review!

This is a beautiful family cookbook with everyday recipes. Each recipe has a personal note, prep and cooking time, tips, and a full page color photo of the finished dish. It is a great cookbook to have in your kitchen and would make a fantastic gift.

I was so excited to see Oh, Sweet Basil (Carrian Cheney) have another recipe book coming!! Her recipes are easy and delicious. One of the best things about being at home more these days is that I have time to cook more. After reading through this book I immediately made a grocery list and ran to grab it at my local pickup. So far we have loved the Cafe Rio Salad, the Garlic Butter Steak, and the Cherry Pie Bars. As I am typing this the Slow Cooker Pot Roast is in the crockpot! I highly recommend this cookbook and can't wait for the book to be released to I can buy a physical copy! Enjoy!

Raised in the Kitchen by Carrian Cheney is an enjoyable family-based cookbook and instruction manual wrapped into one wonderful package.

My son is now almost 6 and we have been including him in our daily meal decisions and kitchen preps for a short time now. So far stirring and measuring is as far as we have gotten. I love that this cookbook encourages families and gives the message that nourishing one’s body and soul is a full-family affair.

The recipes are simple, concise, appealing, and easy to execute. I love the way it is laid out with the basics first and gradual change thereafter. I want for my son to feel comfortable in the kitchen and to also know that he is welcome there as well. I don’t want for things to be intimidating as I have felt learning these things later in life. I am glad I was able to come across this book that projects these sentiments exactly.

I have already preordered my own copy. A great addition for any family.

5/5 stars

This is a cookbook I wished I would have had when my children were young. Even so, there are so many recipes that I want to try. Filled with pictures and recipes from breakfast, breads, dinner and dessert. The ingredients are ones, you will already find on your pantry shelf. I'm going to purchase a copy when it becomes available. I have followed Carrian Cheney on Instagram and love her posts.

I am loving this cookbook by Carrian of Oh Sweet Basil! It has beautiful colorful pictures throughout that inspire you to go buy ingredients and start cooking right away! I love that it is a collaboration with her kids. It's so important to start children in the kitchen while they are young, I wish I had started my kids way younger. I also appreciate that every aspect of cooking is addressed, from food prep to cleanup. This is new to me to see in a cookbook and I think it's great! This book is totally full of recipes I can't wait to try! Thank you to Shadow Mountain and Netgalley for an arc of this awesome book!

All the food in this cookbook looks yummy. I love that there is a section on breads. That isn’t something you normally find in a regular cookbook. I have tried a few recipes. The instructions were easy to follow and the ingredients were regular ingredients I had normally at home.

My kids are getting older. They are all in the pre-teen to teen stage but something we have always done is hang out in the kitchen to gether making recipes, so I adored the concept of this book. I thought maybe we could find new recipes for my 11 year old boys who still love to cook both with me and without me now. I love the way the book is set up, starting with simple, basic recipes and progressing into family friendly favorites that might be a little more challenging (yet still doable) for little ones. I will definitely be recommending this book to my friends with younger children, and we will also be utilizing some of these recipes in ourkitchen as well!

“Food connects more than just people and memories; it connects hearts.” -Cariann Cheney

I love being in the kitchen and after reviewing this cookbook I NEVER want to leave my kitchen! I recently started following Cariann on her page @ohsweetbasil and adore her! I love how involved her family is in this cookbook and loving seeing pro tips offered by her kids. I have a 10 year old who has a goal of becoming an “epic chef” and this is the book I’m going to use to get him there! I love her tips and tricks for letting kids help. As a perfectionist and clean freak, the kitchen is an area I could use some help on with letting the kids do more! The content of this cookbook is unreal. I want to make each and every single recipe! The ingredients list had common ingredients, easy to follow instructions, and gorgeous photos. There are so many tips and tricks in this cookbook that I feel like after I learn all of these skills I will be an “epic chef” as well!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I am always on the look-out for family-friendly recipes. My kiddos are so picky. Any time I can try to push them into something new, I want to give it a go. Raised in the kitchen had some great ideas. My one complaint is I wanted more photographs of the completed foods. I hate cooking something new, blind. I want to make sure my final product looks the way it should.

Thank you to NetGalley Shadow Mountain Publishing and Carrian Cheney for the ARC of Raised in the Kitchen in return for my honest review.

This cookbook is filled with very easy to follow recipes Some recipes are old favorites made with updated twists and/or ingredients. As the title of the book suggests--this cookbook is the perfect addition to any family's cookbook collection. Would be a great gift for a newly married couple.

Quite honestly, kids cookbooks are a struggle for me to use with my own children. Often the variety of foods is not there and the simplicity of the recipes are behind my kids skills. However, Raised in the Kitchen, was a very pleasant surprise. My older son was sitting next to me while I was looking at the book and has made plans to make several of the recipes in this upcoming week. We were thrilled to see the variety of foods, the easy of instructions, and recipes that had must have basics, some classics, and some new twists on dishes. Things like Rice Krispy bars, baked potatoes, and peach cobblers, as well as easy soups, seem to get overlooked in kids cookbooks. We loved seeing those included among the others. This cookbook was like having my grandma's church cookbooks with me, with beautiful pictures, and easy to use instructions. I would highly recommend it to anyone with kids that they want to be in the kitchen more often.

I loved this cookbook. It’s great for families! The recipes were all family friendly, but not boring or repetitive. I can’t wait to try out all of these, and to let me daughter help. I really enjoyed the tips in the book, and stories that went along with it. Definitely recommend!

This cookbook is a great family resource for meals that all the family can help make. The recipes are easy enough to teach children , which is a win . As the mother of teenagers, it is a lifesaver to have your kids have an arsenal of recipes in their back pocket that they can use when they need to cook for themselves. I also like that the ingredients are easy to find at your local grocery store . Great book to have on your shelf .

A lovely cookbook which encourages the whole family to get involved in the kitchen. I particularly liked the idea of the Family Bake Off that the author suggests. The recipes are easy to follow and look delicious.

After looking through this cookbook not only was I craving just about everything I saw in the pages, but I was anxious to try out so many of these recipes. This book looks like food that I would actually want to eat and food that my family would enjoy. The photography is stunning and the variety of recipes was another bonus to this well rounded cookbook. I am definitely grabbing a copy for myself and as a gift for a friend! I cannot wait to try out some of these dishes!

I was offered the chance to view this book on NetGalley and I really appreciate it. I love a good cookbook and this one has lots of delicious recipes.

The book starts with breakfast recipes, offers dinner recipes, steak, chicken, Mexican, pastas, pizzas, and even desserts.
One of my favorite things is that there is literally a picture with every recipe! I love that!

This book mentions cooking with your kids but it’s not geared towards kid foods. I don’t have kids and this cookbook still completely appeals to me.

The recipes I plan to try first are:
Sausage hash brown casserole
Cheesy potato casserole
Pan fried tortellini
Broccoli cheddar soup
Bottom of the jar chicken
Steak fajitas
Garlic butter steak

This cookbook is phenomenal. I tried out several of the recipes myself. I made the Slow Cooker Pot Roast and my step son (former Army and has traveled the world trying dishes all around) said it was the best roast he had ever tried. I also must rave over to the Cheesy Potato Casserole. Wow, just delicious. This recipe book shares useful tips and notes throughout, including suggestions for having your kids involved. I am adding this to my library's cookbook cart immediately. I also recommend to children's departments that collect cookbooks for parents of young ones.

I find it difficult to read cookbooks in digital form, but even so, this one looks like it would get used frequently in my house. The recipes weren’t too complex, and they each had a color photo of the finished product. (A huge plus in my book.) I want to have my kids help out more in the kitchen, and there are several recipes in here that I can see us all enjoying. This is a cookbook I would like to add to my collection.
