I tried to give this book a chance. I had a hard time connecting to the characters and their relationship. I will not be sharing this review on my pages.

A sweet book with lovely characters who support her on the trials of her rollercoaster journey when it goes pear shaped along the way . Really enjoyable slightly different novel.

I really liked this book, but I felt that there were lulls in the story that needed some help.. However I found this to be really enjoyable and entertaining and would recommend.

This has been on my NetGalley shelf for over a year, and I still have picked it up. I've tried, but it just isn't for me right now. I hope other people enjoy it more than I did.

The introduction of Jameson Ford, the cold and emotionless publicist turned unlikely ally, feels clichéd and lacks authenticity. The romance that develops between Addie and Jameson is underdeveloped and lacks the necessary chemistry to make it believable. The potential for emotional growth and healing through their connection is squandered, leaving their relationship feeling forced and uninspiring.

The novel's plotline, which involves Addie's long-lost father and distant relatives vying for her success, is rife with missed opportunities. Rather than delving into the complexities of these relationships and the potential conflicts they could bring, the narrative falls into predictable and unoriginal territory. The resolution of these conflicts feels rushed and lacks the depth needed to truly engage the reader.

Furthermore, the humor that is supposed to serve as a source of relief in the midst of the chaos falls flat. Addie's reliance on popping chocolate kisses as if they were Xanax feels contrived and fails to elicit genuine laughter or empathy from the reader. The attempts at humor come across as forced and detract from the overall impact of the story.

The writing style in "Her Turn" is competent but lacks the finesse and depth needed to truly captivate readers. The prose feels formulaic and fails to evoke the emotions necessary to fully immerse oneself in the story. The pacing is inconsistent, with moments of slow development interspersed with rushed resolutions that leave the reader wanting more.

In conclusion, "Her Turn" by Allison Jones is a disappointing novel that fails to live up to its potential. Despite an intriguing premise and the promise of a heartfelt exploration of family and fame, the execution falls flat. The underdeveloped characters, lackluster romance, and missed opportunities for emotional depth contribute to a lackluster reading experience. I DNF’ed this book at 20%. I just couldn’t get into the characters or storyline. There was something just off for me. After reading reviews on GoodReads I see others felt the same as me.

I DNF'd this book very early on as I hated how juvenile the writing was. I hated how certain things were portrayed and 90% of what I read, I just did not care about. At all.

This book was not for me.

I couldn't connect with the characters and the plot wasn't holding my attention. It did have it's charm, but I couldn't get myself to care about what was happening on the page.

I found this book a little hard to get into at first. There were some editing mistakes throughout the story and the main characters were often repeating themselves chapter after chapter. I don't like not finishing a book, so I forced myself to finish this.

Addie had a tough childhood with an unloving mother more concerned about appearances than giving affection to her kids. Addie grew up raising her younger brother, Owen, who was born with Down's Syndrome. Her dad left right after Owen was born and her mom started drinking. Now it's just Addie and Owen left. When her mom died, she left Addie her vast fortune and guardianship of Owen- that's the only thing she really wanted-Owen legally. Addie's lazy cousin, Matthew, and his wife, Dorothy, feel they are entitled to the inheritance, not Addie. So they bulldoze her monthly for "loans" but she never says no, no matter how terrible they treat her.

Addie has been working on finishing her book manuscript for the past 10 years. Now it's the biggest success in the country, and Dorothy is sick of watching Addie getting everything she's always wanted handed to her. Now it's Dorothy's turn to cash in, and she'll hurt whomever gets in her way to get the job done; especially Addie.

I like this books. It was really good. I would read more books by this author. I would recommend this book to others.

This book was good . But wasn’t my favourite. Some parts where good but some I got quite bored of reading it

Found the characters pretty much all to be unsympathetic, so it was difficult to get behind anyone to root for in this story. The people are supposed to be adults around their 40s, but the prose read a lot like teenagers who don't know any better, so this was another level of dichotomy taking away from this one.

Her Turn by Allison Jones is a story of what happens when something you have always wanted happens. Addie always wanted to be a writer and when her first book becomes a huge hit she is not prepared at all! She is a primary care giver for her brother Owen who has Down syndrome. All of a sudden she goes from basically being at home writing, to book tours and television appearances. And relatives seem to come out of the woodwork looking to benefit from her success. And there is a love interest too! Really enjoyed this book!

I love books in the bookish world! The author did some interesting things in how the characters relate to the reader that felt new and fresh. Overall the story was lovely if a little slow at times. Overall this is a very easy fun read!
