I didn't enjoy this book. The plot and the writing were really rough. I think it needed more editing and tweaking,

I will attempt to read this again in the future, but at this time it isn't suiting my mood. I appreciate the opportunity and will leave reviews on Goodreads and Amazon after reading it.
Thank you to BooksGoSocial and NetGalley for the arc.

Unfortunately reading several reviews of this book I am no longer interested in reading it for myself and will be unable to provide feedback at this time. Thank you for the opportunity

This is my first time reading something by Ms. Jones. The blurb is definitely what drew me to this book. I had to admire Addie's character and how she took over the role of caretaker for her brother after their father left them. The dynamic between brother and sister was the part of the book that appealed to me the most. Owen was the sweetest, being his own person and just having a great personality. Addie was a feisty and smart woman, although she did seem a bit jaded at times, and of course that is understandable given her past experiences. The story was interesting and at times intriguing and, overall I enjoyed the plot.

I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.

I did not complete this book. There were writing/grammatical errors that I could not get past. As I was reading I was waiting for there to be more character development and context but this did not take place. Wanted to love this but it fell short.

This is a great book about the love of family and doing everything in your power to protect the ones you love.

Was only able to get 20% 0f the way through this book before DNF-ing. The main character was painful to read, and, despite the promising synopsis, the plot was thin and unbelievable.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t get very far into this one. I tried to get into it a few times but each time I quickly gave up. The writing is really clunky and awkward and I just couldn’t do it.

Thank you for the arc in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Her Turn is just another contemporary love story of a low self-esteem Addie who had to keep herselft afloat with her brother with Down Syndrome. Her life was quite ‘miserable’ as she got a cousin (and his wife) who happened to squeeze her out for money.

When Addie lost her job, she started writing right away. Her life was blessed as she gotten herself famous for her publicised 1st book. There, she met Jameson, her hunky publicist. They fell in love but both characters were trying hard to hide their feelings - they were afraid of committing in a serious relationship.

It’s a simple story which I feel it’s more to their love story, and how complicated the family was. The ending, anyway, is subtly a happy one.

I honestly liked the plot idea but went flat with execution. Addie was portrayed nicely but her thoughts were rude sometimes .

It could have been better , otherwise an ok read

Not really for me. The friendship was a good part but everything else wasn't really for me and I couldn't finish it.

This book left me wanting more - you know the ones where you want to part of the story and be freinds with the characters? Will be watching out for Allison's next novel

This was a decent read. I felt that Addie's inner dialogue was very honest and how a lot of women actually think. The romance was not there for me. Addie and Jameson just seemed thrown together but with no real chemistry. I did like how Dorothy got her own chapters. It was interesting to see how the villain thought.

This romcom didn’t quite work for me. I liked the premise of the book. Addie has her first book published and her life completely changes. She is responsible for her brother Owen who has Down’s Syndrome. Owen is a great character and my favourite in the book. I didn’t really see the romantic connection between Addie and her publicist. Some of the descriptions and Addie’s thoughts get a bit repetitive.

Her Turn by Allison Jones follows 40 something writer, Addie Snyder as she finds herself unemployed after the death of her emotionally abusive mother. Addie decides to take this time to write the great American novel. As she sends her novel out into the world, her book begins to gain attention and becomes wildly successful. Enter Jameson, the publicist/ex-Navy Seal, a.k.a the Silver Fox.
From their first meeting, Jameson feels a spark for Addie, and as they spend more and more time together on her book tour, the more their feelings grow for each other. Unfortunately, Jameson, being ever the professional, is determined to keep things strictly professional between the two. Until one night when something not so professional happens.
Jameson begins to create distance between himself and Addie, but all the while trying to keep a handle on the ever-growing problems that have arisen with her new fame. The relatives are coming out of the woodwork to try and get their hands on what they feel they deserve from Addies new fortune and they have begun a tangled web of blackmail, bribery and a quest to destroy Addie at all costs.

Let's start with the book dedication. Not something that I normally read or pay attention to but the one for this book was pretty spectacular. Honestly, I loved it and was willing to give it a 5 star rating just for that alone. However, with a dedication like that, you needed a better book to back up that middle finger. I say this with enjoying for the most part the book...ok the middle of the book. The beginning and the end were choppy and need to go through editing probably a few more times to make the book amazing.
On the actual book, the story had a Better off Ted (The TV Show) quality to it where, the characters routinely talk to the reader like they are friends being retold an interesting story. I liked that about the book and thought it was a somewhat unique way to draw the reader into the story.
There is a lot of jumping in time in the beginning and end of the book. It starts with the death of her mother, jumps 10 years, then jumps 3 months, then jumps 9 months and then the story starts to form when she starts to see the success from her book. It was jarring and made it so that the story did not flow. It felt like the writer rushed through the beginning and the end and only gave the middle of the book meat. A few more times through with editing, remove the POV of Matthew and Dorothy, the author could've added a bit of story and not made the book to much longer. As the story is, it’s only 288 pages. They should've developed the story more and added another 100 pages to the book.
I felt that there was to many POV’s in this book. It really should’ve been just Jameson and Addie. The other POV’s were unnecessary and could have easily been edited out if the author had shown us what Dorothy and Matthew were up to instead of telling us.
Character wise, I did like Addie. She was fun and quirky with a fun sense of humor; However, I really couldn't reconcile her with a 40 something women. I felt like she was a 20 something with low self-esteem, and a few quirks that drove me a little crazy. Like, she apparently didn't own clothes without stains on them and lived in yoga pants.
Jameson, is a wounded soul who suffers from PTSD from his time as a Navy Seal. With a fierce loyalty and drive to protect the people that he cares about, Addie and her brother Owen quickly become people that he is determined to protect at all costs. I might say too quickly. When Jameson and Addie first meet, he is sizing her up and saying how she doesn't measure up and then suddenly, sparks. In the same paragraph...Just like that. No No No. There needed to be more of a buildup and an awakening to how amazing she is.
Owen was adorable, and my favorite character in the book. He was written perfectly.
Overall, I did enjoy the book. It was a quick read. I liked the characters, well, except Matthew and Dorothy, but I’m sure that was intentional. I do hope that we will find out what happens with Nina and Harrison in the future.

I received this book complimentary from NetGalley but all opinions are my own.
This was a sweet one. Very closed door but the characters were fun and interesting. I liked Addie a lot and Jameson is excellent. Obviously, the character everyone falls in love with is Owen. Duh. I really liked this! The setting was a bit unclear at first but I appreciated how it was handled later in the book. Overall this is a cute story and I’d read more by the author another time.

A light-hearted read with adorable characters. It was enjoyable without being too comic. The twists and turns are enough to keep the reader going on.

This was just an okay read for me. I did really enjoy the main character Addie was a writer and I loved the Downs Syndrome representation in the character of her brother but the story dragged a bit in places for me. A bit disappointing overall but had such high potential!
