This was an excellent remembrance of Kate Fagan's father. Raw, real, and beautiful. I enjoyed getting to know Kate and her family more through this book. Many thanks to Little, Brown, and Co and NetGalley for the advanced copy!

is a touching heartfelt memoir about Kate and her father, Chris Fagan. He was not just a good father to her and her sibling, he was their mentor and a constant supporter of whatever they chose to do. Chris Fagan gets ALS, This book left me in tears at numerous occasions and touched my heart in a special way. The human spirit is so special and this family proves it

I wasn’t sure how I felt about reading a memoir written by an author I didn’t know. But the subject of a father-daughter relationship and how it plays out as he fights a terminal illness was compelling. The initial premise reminded me of The Middle Place by Kelly Corrigan but that might be because I loved the analysis of a father-daughter relationship. Having lost my own father in my 20’s I found much of what Fagan wrote relatable.
I love that Fagan didn’t sugarcoat their relationship, yet included the highs and lows. Throughout it all, though, the love she has for her father was evident. What she learned about herself through her father’s battle with ALS provides a lesson for all who read this memoir.
