A very prettily illustrated copy of Jane Eyre. It will no doubt decorate wonderfully any book shelf with all its little flowers and realistic birds in the margins and its beautiful bound. The text doesn’t need any introduction, it is as enthralling as ever and I am sure it will enchant many more readers.

I wasn't really reading the book, but I wanted to see the edition because I'm looking for one to buy.

It is very beautiful and elegant I really like the illustrations scattered between the chapters.
Will definitely buy myself a copy and maybe gift some.

Thank you for the chance.

This is a beautifully illustrated edition of Jane Eyre, and the lovely artwork certainly adds to the experience whether you’re retreading an old favorite or meeting Jane for the first time.

Stylistically the illustrations seem fitting, and they’re both gorgeously rendered and unobtrusive in the sense that they don’t distract from the text.

I’ll be curious to see what the final published edition looks like. My galley had lovely birds, flowers, and other tiny nature-related details, but did not include the maps, family trees, and sheet music that the publishers summary claimed it would. It’s a bit difficult to rate this edition because of that, given that much of what we’re meant to evaluate is missing from the digital ARC.

Regardless, what I did see of the illustrations was lovely and fitting for the story, and I have no doubt this edition will make for a beautiful finished copy.

This one is hard to review. This is not necessarily my favorite classic, but I don't regret reading it and I still recommend it. It is just not one that I would suggest people to start with if they rarely read classics if that makes sense? The relationship here is definitely interesting but I just think that Jane can be whiny at some points which made for a difficult read.

I received a copy of Jane Eyre: Illustrations by Marjolein Bastin in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Jane Eyre has long been on that list of must read classics, and with good reason, if you ask me. Charlotte Bronte's work is beautiful, enthralling, and has a strong Gothic vibe to it. It's one of those books that I've picked up (and completed) a time or two in the past, so you can imagine my excitement when I saw that there was an illustrated edition in the works.

Illustrated by Marjolein Bastin, Jane Eyre is taken to all new heights. Though I would like to clarify that the artwork does not, in any way, shape or form overpower the writing itself. The little details are found all over, some at the ends of chapters, others found in seemingly random spots on the pages. They help to reach this certain aesthetic that frankly I adore.

Whether it's your first or hundredth time reading Jane Eyre, I can promise you that the delicate illustrations will help to set the tone, and make the read all the more enjoyably. Oh! And I have no doubt that this would make for a great collector's item as well.

“Do you think I am an automaton? — a machine without feelings? and can bear to have my morsel of bread snatched from my lips, and my drop of living water dashed from my cup? Do you think, because I am poor, obscure, plain, and little, I am soulless and heartless? You think wrong! — I have as much soul as you — and full as much heart! And if God had gifted me with some beauty and much wealth, I should have made it as hard for you to leave me, as it is now for me to leave you. I am not talking to you now through the medium of custom, conventionalities, nor even of mortal flesh: it is my spirit that addresses your spirit; just as if both had passed through the grave, and we stood at God's feet, equal — as we are!”

The quote cited above is perhaps one of the best things I have ever read! I loved that Bronte shows Eyre as an independent and strong woman. Her character development is fantastic. I also loved that she doesn't magically transform into some goddess! But I think that the book falls flat towards the ending. She deserved better. Wayyy better!

Absolutely love the plot (for the most part) but the book is tedious to read at times.
Certain chapters are super super super boring.

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte is one of my favourite books of all time.

This is a gorgeous edition, that would be nice for a collection or Bronte fan.

The flowers are gorgeous. I always think of nature when I think of Jane Eyre so I think the illustrations are a nice touch.

I can't wait to see the final copy of this book and the rest of the books made in this edition.

I received an eARC from Andrews McMeel Publishing through NetGalley. All opinions are 100% my own.

The illustrations of this book are absolutely breathtaking. The cover is stunning and they are woven into the pages to make a classic even more appealing to read. I would definitely recommend a hard copy of this book over the eBook copy so that you can view the illustrations.

Sometimes I wonder if I should focus more on reading some of the classic novels I haven't had the pleasure of enjoying yet. With so many books on my TBR list I gravitate towards new releases and the current hot titles.

Then I see Jane Eyre on Netgalley with the most beautiful illustrations and I realize I was just waiting for the perfect copy to cross my path. This book is STUNNING. I'm obsessed with each little flower and petal drawn by illustrator Marjolein Bastin.

Weather you've enjoyed this book before or also have it sitting on your TBR list like I did, you are going to love this added addition to a classic story.

This is a beautiful gift for Charlotte Bronte fans. The cover looks stunning. The appeal of this book is the life-like illustrations of the flowers, birds, butterflies, and bees. I was misled by the title which said illustrations. I thought this would be an illustrated novel (graphic novel) with characters illustrated. It will be wise to clarify that the illustrations are nature and non-character specific.

This has been my second time reading Jane Eyre (I studied it at university a few years ago) and knowing what I knew about it (the symbolism, the motifs etc.) I think I liked it even better this time. I am not going to bother making a review of the novel itself (I still despise Mr. Rochester, Jane is still a bit annoying but she could’ve done better than Mr. Rochester, and it makes me so sad to think of Bertha, who deserved so much better), because I don’t think there are any new things to say about it, but I will be doing a review on the beautiful edition that Netgalley so kindly provided me with.

There are beautiful watercolour flowers that appear in each chapter, most of the pages have at least one flower, which add to the experience of reading the novel. Flowers were very well regarded during Victorian times, and in my opinion it is very fitting to this novel. Also, I have to highlight the “illuminated initial” or firs letter of each chapter, which was also watercolour. I think it is a little touch that makes the text more appealing to readers. Overall, I think Marjolein Bastin did a very good job with this edition
