First, I like the author's style of writing. It's so easy to read through and it goes well with the thrill and suspense. It got me curious but not enough to make me want to get to the end; I rather liked the reading journey!

Second, the story was dark and a bit cliche. There are also parts which, in my opinion, are either unnecessary or unbelievable. And while the flags are all there, it just wasn't built properly to support the finale. I suppose it could've been done on purpose to keep the reader off the track. For me, it would've been better to keep the explosive revelations at a minimum and make it so that the trail shifts smoothly until it all gets tied to the very end.

Lastly, the points of view of the various characters left a lot for me to ponder. Take for example, people's fear of being bashed on social media. Another thing is personal bias towards an issue where neutrality should be maintained. Some of it hit deep and really amde me think deeply.

Tell Me the Truth by Matthew Farrell is an awesome twists and turns page turner that will keep you guessing right up until the end. Eighteen year old Jenny is from an affluent family but wants to get away from it all. Her mother finds her body and she calls the police hoping to get answers. But the answers she gets are not exactly what she hoped for. The police turned their suspicion to the family. Did they have something to do with Jenny’s murder or were the police looking in the wrong direction? The police procedural in this book was outstanding. The author did an amazing job of keeping my attention throughout and the characters well developed and flawed almost to perfection. Did Jenny have more suspects? The killer is hoping so.

An enjoyable twisty mystery, however, some of the plot points are a little bit outlandish that beggars belief at times.

Tell me the Truth is an enthralling story with lots of action, it's fast-paced written, and keeps the reader guessing what will happen next. I started reading one night and finished the story the other day. Great police procedural and although part of a series can be read stand-alone. I'll be looking to read other books by this author, as they provide good entertainment!

Superlative,,,
The second in the Adler and Dwyer series as the duo investigate a gruesome and vicious stabbing. Jenny is discovered outside her home by her mother. A tragedy, Jenny was just eighteen years old. The clues at the scene don’t match the story told by Jenny’s family. Something about the whole thing simply doesn’t add up but what exactly is it? A superlative whodunnit with a perfectly drawn cast of characters, engaging protagonists and a cleverly threaded plot.

Even though this is part of a series this reads well as a standalone, which I attest to since I seem to always be intrigued by a book I find out of order in a series but read it anyways. Jennifer is an 18 year old on her way to college.... or so she thought before she is discovered near her family home brutally murdered by stabbing, that doesn't sound personal at all?!?! Insert the state police investigative team Adler & Dwyer and you have a tag team duo that is about to find that everyone around Jennifer seems to be caught up in lies and contradictions when they are questioned.... so what do they all have to hide?? This an intense thrill ride that has layers of twists and turns until the truth is revealed! Now I will have to go back and read the first book to make sure I keep up to date on the happenings and the beginning of this investigative duo! Thank you NetGalley for the copy to review based on my own opinions. This is a really good book!

Thank you to Thomas & Mercer, Matthew Farrell, and Netgalley for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

I'm a big fan of murder mysteries so I really enjoyed this one. It's a tense, twisty thriller that had me saying 'just one more chapter' all night. This book is full of twists and turns, that when you finally think you have an idea of whodunit, a twist will flip it all around.

I hadn't previously read any books by Matthew Farrell going into Tell Me The Truth, so I didn't know it was the second book in a series until I was already into the book. It works as a standalone, but fyi, this book mentions things that happen in the first novel Don't Ever Forget, so I would recommend reading that first, so nothing is spoiled.

I fell in love with Matthew Farrell books from the very first book I read. Every book just keeps getting better and better! This book sucked me in and I still haven't recovered! Highly recommend this !

I don't know why but that book kept getting on my nerve the whole time.
The plot was so so weak and the writing style was so basic which was unfortunate since i expected it to make up for the weak storyline.
The dialogues of the interviews with the suspects were truly cringe worthy, there weren't any climax points it went on like this:
The investigator: hey you, we have some clues about you that are related to the crime, are you the murderer?
The suspect: No!
The investigator: okay, cool👍
Infuriating 😂🤦‍♀️
The characters were like ZERO dimensional if that's even a real thing, they were written so bad that it felt almost embarrassing 😓
The twists all happening towards the end and the ending itself were at the same level as the whole book, so don't expect to be blown by the ending.

Talk about twists galore !

18 year old Jenny is set to head to college when she’s brutally murdered outside her family home. And that’s just the beginning of layers upon layers upon layers of secrets, lies and twists as her case gets investigated and her family’s secrets exposed.

I love a twisty read. But by the last part of this book, the twists felt artificial and heavy handed. Sometimes less is more and that was the case with this one for me. With a full cast of characters, we don’t see a lot of development of the leads, which is disappointing as Susan and Liam both have interesting stories. While it does say it can be read as a standalone, I do think reading the books in order is important as it would be hard to get a sense of the relationship between Adler and Decker without it.

Overall, its a quick read that will keep you turning the pages, but for a regular thriller reader, I found it promising but ultimately predictable with a bit too much going on across the board.

Thanks to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you to #NetGalley, #MatthewFarrell, and #Thomas&Mercer for this ARC in exchange for an honest review. This is the second book in the Adler and Dwyer series. And even though it’s described as a stand alone, and it 90% is, at times it’s not. They reference the first book and the Bad Man a lot. And if you haven’t read the first book, or want to read it, after you’ve read this you might as well not as it describes the characters and plot/outcome of the first book. But as far as the book as a whole is concerned, I really loved it! The characters are well developed and you may find yourself cheering for some and annoyed with others. And just when I thought I might have figured it all out, nope. Completely wrong lol. I will read more from this author but definitely in order next time!

A brilliant whodunit filled with twists and turns.
I have just finished reading this book and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is only now as I am beginning this review that I found out that it was the second in a series, I need to read the first one! However, having said that, I would not have realised that this was not a stand-alone book and it was just as good without reading the previous book.
Jenny Moore is 18, just about to go to the college of her dreams, she lives with her parents, Noel and Mindy and her younger brother Charlie. She is found in the woods outside her home by her mother, having been stabbed to death.
Susan Adler of the state police and her partner Liam Dwyer is called in to investigate and very quickly realise that the family are very much involved, or so it would seem, in this murder. The father Noel has an alibi, he was on business in Florida and arrived home to find his wife in a catatonic state having just discovered Jenny’s body in the woods. Mindy is unable to give any information, but it is soon apparent that Charlie knows more than he lets on.
The apparent innocence of the family’s involvement is further compromised when Adler and Dwyer discover traces of blood inside the family home.
I enjoy a book where I start off knowing more than the detectives investigating it but at the same time as the story progresses, I realise that I don’t know much at all. As a reader, you think you know what has happened but in fact twists and turns and new evidence lead you in other directions.
This was one of those books that you actively find the time to read because you want to know how everything pans out. I did find the ending quite sad and was not sure what could have happened previously, however on discovering that there is a prequel maybe that would have made things clearer. Suffice to say I will be purchasing the previous book and any further books that I can find written by this author. It was a really good read.

I didn’t read the previous book in this series so I was a little bit confused and wish that I had done that. I think he’s a great writer though and I did enjoy this.

I’ve been a fan of Matthew Farrell since I discovered his first book online and continue to devour every word he writes. This book is an example of his exemplar story telling and descriptive writing. The one will not disappoint.

What an absolutely twisted story! And I mean this in the best way possible.

We are back with Detectives Adler and Dwyer as they work the case of a viciously murdered 18 year old girl.

I thought I had this one pegged right away, I thought I knew where this one was going but I was very wrong.

Adler is a fantastic character and I love reading her, so many of the detectives you read about are loners who can’t have a happy family. It’s nice to see her be a great detective and still get to see her be a great mom too.

I can’t wait to see where this series goes next!

Tell Me the Truth by Matthew Farrell is part of the Adler and Dwyer series but reads well as a stand-alone. Jenny Moore is months away from leaving home to attend college. But, sadly, she is found in the woods behind her house in the middle of the night and she has been stabbed to death. Adler and Dwyer are tasked with assisting the local police force as they investigate the horrid murder of this young girl in Lewisboro, New York. It becomes apparent that no one is telling the truth about what happened the night that Jenny went into the woods and never returned. Her wealthy father, her strict mother, her confused teenage brother, his friend who has a crush on Jenny, her best friend all have different versions of what might have happened. The clues are plenty but readers will be led down the wrong paths many times. This is what makes Tell Me the Truth such an excellent thriller. The tension is intense and the original plot never quits keeping the reader’s attention. This is a great read for all mystery fans. I look forward to reading more titles by Matthew Farrell. Highly recommended. Thank you to Thomas & Mercer, NetGalley and the author for the e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Matthew Farrell has been giving us pulse-pounding suspense stories for years now. Tell Me the Truth slides right in with another addictive hit! Somehow I missed the first book in this series but luckily for us listeners/readers, you don’t have to have started with book 1. Yes, I’m sure you’d get a better more well-rounded story and no all the ins and outs of relationships but I felt as though I knew what was happening. The plot is easy to understand without that first book. I loved how quick and choppy the audiobook felt. I felt like I flew through the chapters and it made it feel more addictive than that pulse-pounding story.

The narrator, Cynthia Farrell, did quite well. Her male voices are decent. I do wish there was either duet or dual narration done with the book. I mean, the main characters are both male and female. So while, Ms. Farrell is passable, I’d prefer the real deal. However, with that said, she’s great at portraying emotions and really bring feelings into her voice. I see no reason not to follow this narrator’s upcoming releases! I am curious if she is married to the author or if their last names are just coincidence… what?! I’m nosy!
