Neither Anna nor Liam have time for a relationship. He's busy doing his residency, she's on the verge of owning her own fitness studio. A mistyped email address leads to an unexpected connection but Liam's life plan doesn't include a serious girlfriend for at least another few years. Maybe it's better they stay as friends.

It was fun watching Anna and Liam banter their way from penpals to friends to lovers. The slow progression let them build upon all the little conversations and connections until they made a believable couple.

I really liked Liam and could understand where he's coming from even though his insistence on following his well-defined plan nearly derails them completely. His reservations came from a place of wanting the best for Anna and stemmed from a catastrophic failed relationship (though I don't think he should take the blame for his ex's depression but that's another conversation). Apart from his reluctance to commit he sounds practically perfect (and he gets bonus points for his honesty regarding the no-commitment boundary).

Anna was more difficult to like because her emphasis on healthy living sometimes felt like I was being preached at by a well-meaning but misguided and judgy influencer. For instance, she cleans yoga mats with cleansing essential oils and refers to canned cheese as poison in a canister. Most frustratingly, her idea of bare minimum makeup is mascara and blush which is two products more than the actual minimum. However, I did love her friendship group as the supported and challenged each other through trials, tribulations, and drunk fishing (sounds fun but possibly a very poor idea in practice).

The book could do with a little extra editing particularly in terms of continuity. The most egregious error comes early on, when Liam and Anna bond over a Tolkien quote. Supposedly. There was no discernible Tolkien quote in that email. I'm willing to be wrong and hope this would be fixed in an update.

Overall, I found this a charming and funny novel with an engaging premise with a few hitches in the execution.

Anna and Liam were an adorable couple, I love the trope of mistaken friends to lovers! Both Anna and Liam were wonderful on there own as well, both mature and driven people. I really enjoyed seeing a romabce where the characters don't sacrifice their drive and passions for the love of others.

However, I felt like the complication, of Liam leaving for 6 weeks didn't warrant that much of a rift between the two.

I can't tell you how much I need my own Chickens. A wonderful support system!

I thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful, easy and unforgettable read! Perfect for anyone that wants their own Mc. Dreamy.

I loved the dynamic between Anna and Liam. Their chemistry poured off the pages and I love a good romance where the lovebirds meet by accident online or through a text, so this was great.
The drama was just enough to keep things interesting and the makeup was bliss. These two were meant to be!
I’d recommend this HEA romance.

Email mixup, love growing through words, doctor, workout instructor.

This is my second 5 star read of 2021, it was outstanding.

I have to first say the meet cute is wonderful, and I love mixed up emails/ text message meetings. I have to say both characters are in their own ways sunshine, normally you get one grumpy but not here. The hero, Liam, is working through a lot and as hard has he tries I feel he still falls into the good guy territory. The chemistry between Anne and Liam is on fire, and the world building with the group of ladies makes you want to get to know each of them more. *hint hint, please write a book for each of them*

Not giving anything away, but the big situation that happens between Anne and Liam. Oh my gosh.. this completely happened between my best friend and myself a million years ago. Reading that chapter brought back so many memories, and even though I didn't my HEA with him, I really felt what Anna was going through. Please read this book, its amazing and you won't be upset that you picked it up.

Funny and amazing! This book will have you laugh out loud a few times and be so invested in the story you will not want it to end.

Loved! This book was absolutely amazing. I was instantly taken with this cute read, I absolutely loved both main characters as well as their friends. Anna was just brilliant, I loved her love for motivational quotes and that she wanted to save the environment. It was super easy to follow the connection between Anna and Liam after all both of them were healers in their own ways. Liam was definitely a hot doctor, what wasn't there to love about him? He wanted to help the less fortunate and was still a nice guy!

By Mistake was a perfect depiction of modern living and how many a times the hunger to advance in one's career can often sideline the heart. Ehrlich did a brilliant job with this cute romcom, I can not wait to read the rest of this series!

I really liked the story! the author was a new one to me and I actually read the book in one sitting!

This book was so unexpected. I’m usually such a pretty cover reader and while no doubt this book had a good cover, it just didn’t shout at me like some other covers do. The story though? I couldn’t have fallen more in love with it.

How could one twist of fate; one wrong email forward to the wrong person, a chance encounter & so much chemistry exist? The two main characters captured my heart in so many ways.. it had been so long since I’d been able to see myself in the female lead personality wise SO much. I love a storyline with a good group of female friends and guys, this one so delivered!!

“Forgive me sister for I have sinned, it’s been... umm, ten minutes since my last confession.”

How could it get better than this?! A story where the female lead is a woman who has such strong bonds of friendship that had this been the main plot of the story, I STILL would have loved it and read it all in two sittings as I did with this one.

I was disappointed with the lack of epilogue (we all know me and my love of epilogues..) but with the promise of more stories within this world to come, I can’t wait for the next book!

It was predictable and sometimes a bit unrealistic, but overall this was a great comfort read that I would highly recommend for a romance lover!

After mistakenly receiving an email from handsome Dr Liam meant for someone else, Anna jokingly replies to the email. This begins an email friendship until they decide to meet face to face. They both have career commitments that keep them from having a serious relationship, but when their feelings turn from friendship to romance, they have to decide whether to make it work or end it.
This was a unique story with a good character build up. I was getting as frustrated as Anna by Liam's reluctance to take things out of the friend zone! It's a cute and heartwarming story.

Liam sent an e-mail to an old friend and it accidentally goes right into Anna’s inbox. She decides to write him back to let him know he has the wrong e-mail address and from there, a cyber friendship starts. The more they talk the more they feel connected to each other. At some point, they decide to meet in person and then it really gets interesting and also a bit complicated ! Liam doesn’t want a relationship and says it clearly on Day 1. He’s all about his work and doesn’t want to start something with someone and disappoint her later. He simply has no time for a relationship.

I love Anna’s character, she’s this sweet, independent girl and her friendship with the « chickens » is the best ! This group of friends is great and they all really care about one another !

The romance between the two main characters is quite adorable, their dialogues are often funny and you can feel that there is a real connection between these two ! I really enjoyed reading this book ! It’s a solid 4-star rating for me and i totally recommend it !

Put your pjs on, get a blanket and a glass of wine and curl up for an evening with this brilliant book.

We’re only halfway through January, but I’ll be hard pressed to find a book this year with characters I enjoy more than I did Anna and Liam. Their story, for me, was perfect. Perhaps because it reminded me so much of my own - communicating solely through emails/IM’s, then phone conversations, then meeting in person as friends and forming a very close friendship before dating. Beyond those two and their slowly evolving love story were the friendships that both Anna and Liam had outside of each other. There was a lot of women supporting women and all the relationships were believable. Perhaps my favorite thing about this book was the chemistry between Anna and Liam - it felt so real, like the story was playing out in front of me and it had me feeling ALL the emotions with them. Loved this one and will be recommending to others.

This is a wonderful accidental online friends to lovers romance, it's been a while since I read about a character who is a doctor and that aspect of Liam's life is done extremely well.
Anna and Liam become friends accidentally over email, and fall for each other a time which is not very conducive for their relationship. The book touches upon the difficulties of focussing on high stress careers while wanting a relationship, but also about the importance of giving people a chance to be supportive instead of deciding for them.
I may not agree with all of Anna's dietary views, but her take on prioritising yourself and losing your self worth in the face of a partner who does not give their all to the relationship.
It's a fairly long book but every scene is enjoyable, and with purpose in the plot. Anna's life as a fitness trainer and entrepreneur, her wholesome friendship with other women, Liam's friendships, they are as important as the love story itself.
Definitely a book I'll find myself reading again.

By Mistake is a lovely and well written romance with lots of humour and a great underlying story. Anna and Liam are brilliant characters, but I also really enjoyed Anna's friends and the relationship she has with her sister. I will definitely be reading more from Sigal!

Sigal Ehrlich’s writing style was a little hard to get used to at the beginning of this book. The chapters go back and forth between Anna and Liam and there’s so much stereotypical guy vs. girl language used that I wasn’t a huge fan of. The story also felt like it dragged on more than it should have and a little frustrating at times. Aside from all that, I thought the story was good and interesting - definitely something that fits within our digital age. A nice casual read but just missed the mark for me.

She wants to buy her own fitness studio and Liam is concluding his residency as a doctor and waiting for acceptance with Doctors without borders. When they are connected because Liam sends an e-mail to her address by accident, they strike up a friendship through e-mail, text and on the phone. Without even meeting. And when they do meet, there is chemistry all over the place. But Liam knows this is not the right time in his life for love - even when it seems more and more likely Anna is the ONE.

I liked both characters and we get both their POV in alternating chapters. We also have their friends as secondary characters. After the very strong start, the story did lag a bit for me. It seemed there were a lot of scenes with friends or family that were a bit extensive and wordy so I skimmed a bit. It might be because the author is setting up for the next books in the series, but I was actually just interested in Liam and Anna and not really in their friends and family.

But overall the story was quite adorable with strong leads who both communicated and tried to make their friendship and possible romance work. 4,5 stars rounded to 5.

This was such a sweet and cute read. And I just love the idea of wrong number/sms/email type of romance.
Yes, it is not likely this thing to happen. From all the people on the world, Anna is the one who receives Liam's email, and she is his dream girl....
But let just say it is just pure luck. I love their conversation, you can just feel the attraction.
And after they meet, they are just a dream couple.
I get that Liam is 110% devoted to his job, and yes he needs to be, but I hate that he broke Anna's heart... But I am happy how this all went down.

I love that they grown as a couple. And I just can not wait for Vic's story. The sisterhood and friendship in this book is just great.

I read this one in one sitting, and this really is just a good, sweet romance read. Not to hot, but not to PG 13, just right.

I was so excited for this book because accidental online communication is one of my favourite tropes. In this book, Liam accidentally emails Anna when trying to contact his old friend and they strike up an online friendship, only to discover that they live in the same city.

The email situation wasn't used to the fullest potential in building a connection between the couple, but I still enjoyed the romance between Liam and Anna. It's definitely on the sweeter side, with just a few steamy moments, but I enjoyed the slowburn. The small amount of angst at the end as Liam tried to balance their relationship and his career was well written and kept me invested in the couple.

Unfortunately there were so many random scenes and text messages with Anna's friends that detracted from the romance. They were supposed to be amusing but got tiresome pretty quick, and I ended up skimming a few chapters. I know the author is trying to set this up as a series but I'm reading it for the romance, and until right at the end it felt like every scene with the couple was followed by two with their respective friendship groups.

Also definitely a minor thing but something that cropped up a few times: Anna's obsession with living a healthy lifestyle got annoying after a while. I get that it was an attempt to build a unique character and have Liam and Anna connect over something, but it came across as preachy and could have been toned down a little.

Overall this was just an okay read for me. There were definitely things I liked but the whole book could be improved with less focus on the side characters and more on the romance.
